  1. I'm a huge fan of your Alive and Kicking tracker Jaded! lol - here's hoping he can get that tracker way up because we all know how important he is. He wasn't brilliant today but showed his usual lack of self preservation and will improve. Loved Cheney's game - scored probably the most supercoach points out of any debut player this weekend. Petterd was lively and might start living up to the hype most dee's fans place on his shoulders. Overall I'm reasonably happy, certainly better than last year's diabolical start.
  2. Exactly what I was thinking as I left the ground tonight, let's not count our chickens yet though!?
  3. We should tell Jack Watts to chill out for another year - finish his studies then TANK OUR [censored] OFF next year, win under four games and take him with our priority pick. Taking Rich or NikNat this year. One more year of pain and we should be ok for the 4-5 years of GC welfare. Our timing is perfect.
  4. JS said on MMM on Saturday that they would accept extras, might end up being the 157 heroes dinner......the more the merrier.
  5. I just called the club and asked Demon85 - it is legit so you haven't just donated to some Nigerian scammer! The site will be officially launched on Wednesday after the 150 heroes dinner, it will also be updated then so it hasn't taken into account the thousands of dollars pledged since our encouraging performance against the bummers on the w/e. To all the knockers - the club is finally doing something and getting the word out so just give them a break and get behind the idea. We will see in the next 5 years if it is a complete waste of time and we can't stand on our own two feet.
  6. Thanks for the link BBB, I always look forward to Chopper's assessments of our players. This would have to be the most positive report on our youngsters for the year. Really excited by Grimes. His back problem saw him get to us with pick 14 last year after being highly rated by the club. It's always a risk taking a player with this sort of injury so let's hope he gets over it and becomes a champion. I'd like to see Maric in the team this week. As we know he's young and is still probably coming to terms with the extra attention he gets form all the chicks at school!! We might as well give him a little taste before the year is out even though he may not be quite ready. I wouldn't say I'm as big a fan of Petterd's as most people (I want to see more of him first) at this stage but he seems to be coming good as well. I'm also looking forward to his return to the dees team. When we get more games into the likes of Bate, Morton, Jones, Garland, Warnock and Dunn to name a few, we should have the makings of a reasonable team. Add in a few nice picks in the next draft and we will come out of these dark times. It's going to take a while so hopefully we will still be around when they start negotiating the new round of TV rights.
  7. from latest email: The dawn of a new era Supporters far and wide have thrown their support behind new Club President, Jim Stynes. Over 600 memberships have been sold since last Thursday, bringing our membership tally very close to last year's record of 28,077 - a mark that we expect to pass in the coming days. Every membership sold adds vital revenue to our Club. If you know anyone who barracks for MELBOURNEfc but is not a member, we ask you to encourage them to pledge their commitment by joining before the AFL's membership cut-off date on 30 June. In the coming weeks, Stynes and his board will be announcing a number of ways that you can help, but if you have any ideas that you would like to share with our new directors, please email them to [email protected] I have emailed a link to this thread and highlighted the double membership / give to someone less fortunate idea which I believe is the best one on here. If you have any other ideas send them to [email protected] - lets try and flood them with great ideas that provoke a bit of thought.
  8. From Cards13's post "There a many many ways it could be administered as well... one group of double memberships could be used to take school kids to games, another set we could use to take some of the kids at Jimmy's Reach program, another set to refugees another set to underprivileged, another set to disabled." Cards13 - this is an absolutely brilliant idea that should be presented to Jimmy and the board. Benefits: - shows MFC as good corporate citizen - leverages off Jimmy's great standing within the community - provides MFC with $$$ - provides the member with a feeling they are helping out someone less fortunate - expands the membership/supporter base in the long term
  9. 1000% correct. How can the AFL come out and say that the competitive balance fund is there due to inequity in the draw (two years ago) and then go back on their word. Demetriou's house will be burnt down if this happens. He is a 8===D. Actually he is a V.
  10. You are correct and it is the reason why our club is stuffed and won't be around in 10 years time. Enjoy it while you can.
  11. Good on everyone who signed up last night but why did it take a player calling you up to buy a membership?
  12. belzebub59 - I don't want to misquote CC but he did mention the amount of young talent on our list, and the fact that our older guys are guiding them very well. He mentioned that we are in a new era now and the need to stick with the club. CC is a fantastic addition to our club and has real passion. All the heroes on this site can slag off our greats like Neitz (300+ games) and Yze (250+ games) but these guys are leading the way and the spirit amongst the boys seems fantastic. I get the strong feeling that once we click with Bailey we be very strong again. He believes in what he is doing and his vision must be encouraging for the players. Don't forget that although we haven't won a flag, only a few teams have been in the finals more than us in the past 10-15 years or so. I know you (belzeu59) will stick fat but I worry about some of the other battlers on this site who don't realise that we are a real football club with real people doing their bloody best to turns things around. Our new CEO needs to be given a chance. Get behind the club, we need fairweather supporters to become real supporters. Anyone posting on this site who hasn't purchased a membership yet is more gutless than the players they slag off. Those who do this know who they are. Get to the G on Sunday as I know those involved with the club will be busting their balls to beat Carlton. FACT.
  13. CC is as dedicated to our cause as ANYONE. Even all the anonymous internet heroes on this site! I was fortunate enough to hear him speak at a function tonight. He spoke for a good ten minutes and I got a STRONG feeling he is 110% dedicated to sending us back where we belong. He is a great appointment to our club and a great right hand man for Bailey. From what I've heard tonight Bailey isn't nervous at all and believes in the road we are going down 110%. Give him some time and just accept our position at the moment. We won't be there forever let me assure you of that. Now is the time to stick fat and support the club. All the Bailey knockers will eat their words - I have no doubt of that.
  14. Bate is (and expected to be) a little sore from playing at Sandy this week. Don't expect him back for at least two weeks. He is going to be a good player for us but needs a little bit of time at the moment. No need to rush him back right now.
  15. knowing our luck his hammy?
  16. Just heard from a mate who is fairly well connected saying that Cousins is in more trouble at the Eagles. Expect something to be announced today ...
  17. Welcome aboard - they have only been broadcasting for 3 and half years!
  18. I wasn't rude at all - stop being so sensitive! I'm not pro or anti drugs I just hate it when people come up with sweeping Today Tonight style statements similar to the one you posted. We've heard them all before: "If you take cocaine once you'll be hooked for life" "As soon as you take a pill YOU HAVE A PROBLEM" These statements do little to stimulate proper debate on the supposed drug problem in our society. People who have taken drugs in the past will just laugh you off as they probably have 50 friends who have all taken drugs, live normal healthy lives, and don’t regret it for a second. Anyway, have a good day and welcome to Demonland…….
  19. Tell me why I HAVE A PROBLEM as soon as I have a pill mate?
  20. You forgot to add "WILL SOMEONE PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!" "as soon as you have one - YOU HAVE A PROBLEM" - LOL! Get a grip mate!
  21. EASY money! Hope you all got on.
  22. We won't finish last but Carlton have a serious fight on their hands if they think we will hand them first pick in the last round. Back Essendon tomorrow at the $1.67 on betfair. I absolutely double dare Carlton to throw away top pick and a priority pick and will be happy to pay good money to see them do it via a lumpy bet tomorrow. Just look at what they did a few weeks ago when they were in danger of winning - take Fev off in the last three minutes? Give me a break. Easy money here and happy to be proven wrong.
  23. How could anyone pick dal santo over Riewoldt? Glad none of you are involved in with the club. Actually, come to think of it maybe you are.
  24. POSITIVES (for me) = I won $16, put $100 on Port after seeing our "backline". This season is a joke and I couldn't give a flying $&^$ how we go for the rest of the year. Backing the opposition and hoping we get belted is better than bank interest and fun in a morbid kind of way......
  25. DELIST!
