  1. Perfectly put. Despite your feeling on the contract situation, if you cant view his game objectively you just look silly.
  2. He was our best defender today. Simple as that. People are bashing him because they think he's going. The entire team made mistakes today. We build pressure on ourselves because of our own stupidity and the mistakes become contagious.
  3. Wow. You probably need to have a spell from posting for a while. Frawley not best 22? He was in our best today. Just because he hasn't signed doesn't mean people can get away with stupid comments.
  4. People having a go at Frawley's game today obviously have bias given his contract status. Absolutely smashed his opponent and provided run. Made some poor decisions but the whole team's mindset was poor. Garland was much worse. Some comments on him have been pathetic. Likely from the same people who talk up loyalty. Spare me.
  5. It's ironic how so many here talk about commitment and loyalty yet are happy to slag off all our players both professionally and personally at the drop of a hat. He has every right to hold off until the end of the year and we know barely any of the facts. It's his livelihood and so he should be able to assess where the club is at. Would you trust this club? It's funny all that all negative comments posted here over the last 7 years are forgotten because we've played ok for 10 weeks which all of a sudden means we're going to win 6 flags.
  6. Some of the comments in this thread are worrying. Lack of pace? Not willing to help teammates? Am I watching the same player as these blokes? Even if they were issues, people do realise he’s key defender? On this theory we need to delist Jamar today. His kicking and decision making could use a LOT of work but he’s been doing a reasonable defensive job each week and that’s his prime role. The other areas mentioned are bonuses and until someone can do the majority of them better than him (unlikely) he’s safe as houses. We struggle to match up on the really tall forwards and Tommy is exposed when he has to play on a Petrie type. He’s also 21…
  7. First of all...not sure what either party gains from agreeing to a deal last year. Secondly, even if he did, he would absolutely cop it if they announced it before the season. Look at some of the disgraceful, personal abuse our players cop on here.... and they are giving 100% and committed. Imagine if someone wasn't. Thirdly, if he does stay (which I still believe is a chance) there have been some silly people saying some silly things around this place.
  8. I live in hope but can't see it happening. He's said 3 years max, we'll hire a successor after this season, so there's no turning back after that.
  9. This is very true. Despite real live examples being right in front of their face, some people will always write players off prematurely. We are still seeing it right now with Blease, Strauss, Tapscott etc. Then, if one if the above starts playing well they'll be all 'oh I was wrong haha' and write someone else off in their very next post.
  10. I know, I was agreeing with you. Hopefully a few others start realising that writing players off like they do makes them look silly.
  11. Confidence brings improvement you say? So you think nurturing players through form slumps and giving them a chance to improve by having faith in them and building their confidence might actually be the way to go? I've read on here that dropping players like a sack of spuds after a bad game or 2 to rot in the reserves as a form of punishment is the way to do it though. Watts, Howe, Jetta, Grimes should all have been sent to the gallows apparently. Maybe this Roos bloke knows what he's doing?
  12. While I don't hold hopes of him playing this year (only because i don;t want them crushed again), 10 weeks at best to return to Casey? He hasn't just started walking this week. He's missed 12 weeks, that's a little over the top.
  13. The people that get stuck into Maxwell fall into the same category as those that got stuck into Dawes. Just sheep who enjoy jumping on a bandwagon for their own amusement, Not saying you're one. He's been playing some good footy this year and given their young backline, his leadership will be missed. Good out for us.
  14. Agree. He was really poor today I thought but his deficiencies can be easily fixed. He just takes so long when he has the ball and then makes a poor decision. The amount of times he sells his mates into trouble is an issue. No way should he be dropped though. At the start of his career he looked so poised and knew what he was doing, Now he just keeps making the wrong decision.
  15. People saying he's done or we should trade him are kidding themselves. Thought he was poor today because he turned it over so often. Although was he on Wingard? I'm not sure if he was because Wingard was barely sighted. No issue with his work rate, defensive skills and effort, he just makes shocking decisions. Needs to play with more instinct and stop trying to pinpoint 10 metre kicks in dangerous areas. Get the ball moving forward Jack!
  16. Roosy getting stuck into the recruiter/s that were quoted in the famous Tyson/Salem/pick 2 deal was brilliant. Shocked this hasn't been highlighted more by the media. This was a classic case of journo and other clubs trying to lay the boots in. Kelly may well be a superstar and its unfair to get stuck into him, but the disrespect shown to our club and the players involved was disgraceful. Tyson is all class. Hard to believe he's played 25 odd games.
  17. I don't get it either. Besides his Viney suspension and Tyson trade opinions, I cant think of times when he's attacked us and been totally wrong. He probably has, but who cares? Why does his opinion matter so much to people on here?
  18. There's nothing wrong with wanting players dropped either and your reason there is a rational one. I'm more referring to people giving up on players and being dramatic about their form. While players are on our list it's the coaches job to help them improve, not just cut them mid year due to frustrating performance. In Watts' case I don't think dropping him would've improved him, it would've been detrimental. And in the end that's what it's about, not punishing players because you're frustrated by them.
  19. Well not nobody. There are some here that have rational views like Roos does. Then there's plenty on here that declare careers over/players are to be taken to the gallows etc. after a bad game, or we have the next Ablett on our hands after one good one. Not everyone suggested Watts and Howe be dropped.
  20. Am a big defender of him, have always been against him being dropped and against those that get stuck into him. My comments are simply constructive criticism. He was good today, his ability allowed him to kick clutch goals. Just want him to build on it and improve his intensity and commitment. Got all the talent in the world Jack, which showed today. If he really wanted to he could've been even better and hopefully that's where he ends up in time.
  21. Pendlebury. The bloke is gonna be a star. Clean, hard, smart and kicks goals. Have we had a midfielder like this recently?
  22. Big fan of Jack's talent. Thought his goals covered up some significant lack of intensity today though. With his talent, if he developed his intensity and 'want' to be the best he could be, he could be anything. He was clutch today though. Best kick in our team and has all the ability. Become our best player Jack, you clearly can be!
  23. That's correct and I'm amazed at how many people also interpret this way, including the tribunal. It was pretty simple. Viney didn't bump, he protected himself from imminent contact correctly. Was there another reasonable option? Tuesdays tribunal though 'getting out if the road' was, Thursday correctly didn't. People keep talking about the bump....Viney didn't bump!!
  24. That's true. And no issue with people calling him on it and debating it. But people get so worked up and obsessive over it when that's exactly what he is likely aiming to do. Doesn't mean he's wrong all the time either like many think in here. See Hogan, twice. He doesn't bother me as I don't care what he thinks. His 'opinion' pieces are often incorrect and loaded. But he does break news whether we like him or not.
  25. Agree. Who cares what they say or think? Listen to their commentary and form your own opinion. People get really worked up on here if someone says something negative about us (deserved most of the time) but then themselves post vile stuff in during or directly after a loss. Barrett doesn't have a vendetta against us, he just knows we as a club have been poorly run for years (anyone disagree?) and gets stuck in about it. He's blatantly wrong on the Viney situation and that's been proven. I'm really confused as to why people lose their mind over opinions of people in the media. Everyone has a right to one.
