  1. So the general consensus in the media is that Collingwood and North are bigger premiership contenders than Melbourne? I haven’t got this vibe or seen it anywhere. Do you have any examples?
  2. Haha just some phone issues there. So a lot of media are claiming Collingwood are premiership contenders but none are claiming Melbourne are? Any proof of this? I just find it fascinating why people are so obsessed by what people in the media think about how we might go this year. The same people that most on here whinge about having no idea. It just comes across as being really needy.
  3. ‘It was pointed out to Buckley after the game that the only top team Collingwood had beaten in that stretch had been Adelaide, with its four losses coming at the hands of Hawthorn, Greater Western Sydney, Richmond and Geelong.‘ Selective reporting by someone accusing people of.....selective reporting.
  4. This thread is embarrassing. Are we North Melbourne? First of all, the OP has drastically misrepresented what was said. Second if all... WHO CARES!!!??? Why would anyone in their right mind give a stuff how much ‘credit’ you get from media for winning games of football? We’ve got a strong team playing amazing football and people still wanna have a whinge. Remember where we’ve come from and enjoy the ride.
  5. Haha oh Jack. There’s always one. I’d love to know how this is a ‘diversion’. Mass exposure to an audience that otherwise wouldn’t see the MFC, great work by the club. If we lose this week though it will definitely be down to that over cooked steak 4 months ago...
  6. Maybe we just don’t play the MCG well? We’ll find out over the next month.
  7. No mention of the Oliver deal, Hibberd and Lewis deals and the fact that we haven't lost anyone that we wanted to keep over the past 4 years. People bag out Dodoro then get upset when we don't act like him. We don't play games with trades. Our list is top 4 worthy, it's time for the High Performance team and the players to deliver.
  8. An interesting statement from Waldron if that's how it was articulated. Despite people having an unhealthy hate for media, the good journos word their statements well enough so they don't get it wrong often. There isn't any wiggle room in that one about Watts. Langdon still hasn't been held to account enough for saying 'I've got no doubt that Jesse Hogan's next contract will be back in Perth'.
  9. He said the WA clubs believe he's gettable. Same as the article. The club can nip this in the bud early and have him state he's not going anywhere. If not, the chatter will continue. Simple.
  10. How do you know it was a whole year if you stopped watching them halfway?
  11. I find that a strange opinion. You obviously rated the Roos list quite highly? The majority of people didn't rate their list and seemingly their coach. So they had a poor list and a poor coach yet made 2 consecutive prelims. They've also beaten us 200 times in a row by playing proper, logical football.
  12. So I assume that theory applies to people on here writing letters and giving feedback to our club?
  13. Not a Melbourne one but I've heard Tom Rockliff will sign with the Hawks.
  14. It's just so disappointing. I'm pretty flat after remaining calm all year. We've thrown away such a golden opportunity for development. How many good first quarters did we have this year? Why didn't they fix our starts? Why do we continue to let poor teams dictate terms to us? Supporters could see this coming a mile away. We needed to come out with energy and for the second week in a row we looked lethargic. The game plan needs to change. We cannot continue to handball backwards and play into the oppositions hands. Richmond changed their fortunes by stopping stuffing around with the ball.
  15. Great news. Always liked him but wasn't sure he could play the graveyard role he currently is. Unfortunately the new deal coupled with a game day article means any hope of him getting a kick today are dashed. Hopefully 21 blokes can cover for him.
  16. Has this ever been confirmed or proven? I see posters say this often but suspect it's exactly what they're accusing journos of doing.... guessing without proof.
  17. Wow. A commentator didn't give a player votes so they are a piece of &*%$, should be sacked and mass abused on social media. You need some perspective in your life.
  18. It's a quad strain. How does Josh Kennedy blow up his leg and miss 2-3 and our soft tissues miss 4-6? It's almost every time too. Gawn was a standard 4 week string...of course it then ends up being 12!
  19. Yeh that's a fairer comment. I feel our lapses are more game plan based rather than effort. We can't expect our whole game to be based around being on top of contested possession. Because if we start losing it then we fall apart.
  20. I do understand this 'cliche' and why it's used. However it's impossible. If we played '4 quarters every week' we'd finish top of the ladder, likely undefeated. Name 1 team that plays their best every quarter every week. It's about finding ways through the patches in games that you aren't. Hogan is important to being able to achieve this because he's a big body and a target that helps us hold our structure. That he kicks goals helps too.
  21. Summary of us in the HS: 'A Demon takes the ball and streams forward with numbers in front of him. But Wait. Let's stop this promising foray forward by handballing sideways to a stationary teammate, who has an opponent next him' This is our major issue for mine. People talk about bad quarters and not winning contested possession at stages. That is correct but no team is going to be 100% at every quarter for the entire season. Teams have lapses in every single game. We, nor any other team in any sport are going to play 100% for even a game let alone an entire season. The point is, that when we aren't dominating in the contest and are under pressure, that we keep our structure and move the ball forward and make them defend. it won't be perfect, but instead of being outscored by 6-7 goals in that time, it might be 2-3. We continually try to be perfect when under pressure which plays perfectly into the opposition's hands.
  22. This is the heart of our problem. Compare it to their midfielders. If our decision making clicks I think we'll improve out of sight. But if we keep handballing backwards, to blokes facing the other direction, blokes in worse positions etc. we will invite every team we play to stay in the game.
