  1. These are my favourite type of trade siggestions. Multiple players we don't want equals one good player doesn't it? Maybe we could ask Freo if they'd take Dawes, Grimes, Michie, Terlich and Matt Jones for Fyfe! 5 for 1....surely they win that!
  2. Are there still people who think we haven't improved? Where did they go? Would we be the only side outside of the 8 that hasn't lost a game by 10+ goals? We've essentially been in every game in the last quarter bar perhaps Sydney.
  3. His career will be written off by multiple posters by quarter time. Nothing surer. There should actually be a thread with outright ridiculous statements that have factually been proven wrong. Or would that be bigger than the Scully thread?
  4. Roos made an interesting point in his presser in regards to needing to ‘react quicker’ at Etihad and alluded to the tackle count being lower. I can’t recall his exact words but something along the lines of once the ball gets outside its away and pingning around quicker. This is certainly an area we struggle. 2 examples I can think of in the last quarter: - After St Kilda’s first goal to stretch the margin back to 2 goals, Tyson has the ball from the centre clearance. Instead of kicking into the 50 quickly, he handballs to a stationary player with an opponent basically already tackling him… ball spills…. Saints rush it down…goal. - Far half back flank, there is a contest and a saints player drops 5m out the back. all our players go the ball, saints player knocks it on and they are away…goal. We need to have a better feel for the game both offensively and defensively and make quicker decisions. This seems to be exposed more at Etihad. We’ve certainly improved this from last year, but it’s still area a lot of teams are ahead of us in.
  5. His refusal to kick costs us often. it cost us 2 goals yesterday. He halts forward momentum by looking backwards and sideways for handballs on most occasions he gets the ball. In saying that, besides the 2 mistakes that cost us goals, he was reasonable yesterday. The MacDonald's, Vince, Tyson and N.Jones also cost us goals through poor decisions and skill errors so he wasn't on his own. I just don't think a team can have too many players that just want to handball as a first option ALL the time. We have quiet a few including Oliver, Tyson and most of our defenders. Cant think of many players with this trait in the top teams. Perhaps Priddis. IF he gains the will to kick the ball he will improve as a player.
  6. 'Gone, gone, gone!!!'........ 'He'll go'........ followed up by 'It's just my instinct' Why use that language unless you know something? It serves 3 lame purposes: 1. Makes you feel better 2. Contributes to others' panic 3. If he does go, you'll go around spruiking that you were right all along when really you knew nothing and were only trying to make yourself feel better. Of course, if he stays, everyone is happy and no one remembers any of the negative Nancy's. A win-win for you and others alike.
  7. I disagree with this in general. I assume you want them to then tackle the hips which means players are able to get their arms free and release the ball. This is against what they are coached. Although I do actually agree we seem to give away a lot of frees when tackling. It's just the majority of frees to to Rhys would require players to tackle his thighs to not give them away.
  8. From a group of people (not saying you specifically) who don't believe a thing the media says, you've made a whole lot of assumptions and then paid out on a bloke based on them. I'm extremely frustrated by Tom as a player, but in what will likely be the most important contract of his life, he's entitled to take his time.
  9. I don't really get upset about what the media says, as in the end I find it irrelevant. However, this article is disgraceful. Besides being factually incorrect on multiple occasions, the aggressive language used to belittle Hogan is pathetic. I don't really understand what forum this is on but this bloke surely wouldn't be allowed to publish his stuff on any type of semi-respectable medium. I cant even work out his angle. He's either a Fremantle supporter, trying to use sensationalist journalism to get his name out there, or Jesse has done something to him personally. He should be ashamed and embarrassed by that piece.
  10. You seem to have an issue with the money he's earning. Whilst it can't be argued his output has matched his earnings, it's not his fault what he gets paid and injuries are part and parcel of the game. Please feel free to name any player we have lost or missed out on due to Chris Dawes pay packet and you may be justified in your angst. Or are you more upset that Rohan Bail missed out on extra $100k? Because we actually have to pay a certain percentage of the cap...
  11. I find it a little disappointing the negativity and sheep mentality surrounding Dawes. On one hand, Pedersen and Frost and talked up positively, yet Dawes' career is over. This view is often based on some made up facts. It's also without a body of evidence of seeing him play the new 'trying to score' game style we have adopted, and being somewhere near fully fit. Dawes seems to have never taken a mark in life according to some, and Pedersen is a marking beast like we've never seen before (note: they actually average the same amount of marks over their career). Frost is in no way a forward, yet he's actually been suggested as a better option. The only possible rationale for this is his ability to go into the ruck which, while much better, is in no way something to base your CHF role on. Dawes' 2015 was poor (had a few mates) but how about we see him play not restricted and in a team where the midfield actually gives their forwards a chance, instead of waiting for a 6 v 2 scenario to kick it like the majority of the last 2 years.
  12. Hearing Hogan is out this week. Dont shoot me if not the case, only what I've heard. Calf problem.
  13. But this is 2 years out. It makes sense to hold if. if after this season he puts talks on hold for another year....then we panic!
  14. I don't get this either. Why do people get so worked up by what journalists say? It's not anywhere near as bad as what is said on here anyway. We've sacked coaches at quarter time of a game and then knighted them by half time. If those people you mentioned have any effect on decisions and outcomes at our club then we should be more worried about the people running it.
  15. No sorry, not directed at you. But he's been accused of both by many people. Point is, no matter what he does, he is going to cop it. I didn't have an problem with him as football director as I do rate his football knowledge as see him as a leader. However I understand your point and it cant be argued you're wrong given the subsequent results. The majority of reasons he is disliked by Melbourne people are flimsy as best and most often completely made up (again, not putting you in this category).
  16. Again... 'I dislike him him because he shouldn't have come in to help when he didn't have the requisite experience to do the job.' When speculation of him coaching the MFC and he didn't put his hand up because he didn't have the experience and raw passion to be a coach.... the Demonland response... 'Why doesn't he give something back to the club? He's just lazy and wants easy money in the media etc.' Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't. Hypocrisy.
  17. So in other words, he did his job as an unbiased media commentator? After 186 (when Demonland was skipping around saying how lovely the day was), we wanted Garry to comment 'yeh just a bit of bad luck, lets get around the boys and hopefully they'll improve next week'. He speaks his mind freely of what is/has been wrong with the club? Lucky no one does that on here..... Anyone who thinks we haven't deserved multiple slaps over the past 10 years is living on another planet. He loves the club just as much as we do and wants to see us where we should be. I'm not saying you are guilty of any of this, and I agree they are the reasons he's bashed on this forum by some, i just find it completely hypocritical and ridiculous.
  18. You've made some poor posts in this thread that point to either a lack of understanding of football or trying to be to cool via putting someone else down. It's frustrating when people throw out lines that are blatantly untrue yet are disguised in a way that sheep can follow them. 'Week in week out he just doesn't make a difference'?. In 2 (half) of our wins in 2014 I'd argue he was the most important player on the ground. I concede he had a poor year last year but I'm certain it was due to other factors than lack of ability (injury, game plan, confidence). I find it interesting that people swoon over players like Morabito, Menzel and Trengove with their bad luck with injury, yet when Dawes breaks down some people seem to believe it's his fault.
  19. That wasn't a shot at Jack. I think he can go to another level. Not that I'm fussed what other clubs and the media/general fans think, but I was more referring to competition wise as opposed to club wise.
  20. It's got to be Jack Viney doesn't it. I may be wrong but not sure he's had a full pre season yet but seems this one he hasn't missed a session. Dont see anything holding him back this year!
  21. He wasn't a free agent. But yes, it's pretty obvious we didn't want to keep him.
  22. Previous 10 pick #25s are Wayde Mills, Nathan Djekurra, Tom Collier, Jack Redden, Aaron Black, Karnezis, Seb Ross, Spencer White, Dan McStay and Dan Neilson. Without knowing too much about Neilson I'd only take McStay & Redden over Melksham. Human instinct is to complain/brag when trades happen. Perhaps it's just a fair deal. Don't be a sheep.
  23. When I opened this thread I had high hopes that my team's supporters would show their intelligence. My faith has been rewarded. There's always the select few, but I hope there comes a day when we don't have to say that. In a way I'm disappointed he didn't play against us down here again, because we might've shown we have the classiest supporters. Perhaps we might not have, we'll never know. Goodesy, a champion on and off the field.
  24. I get it mate, i do, but when people say stuff like this i feel I'm watching that Voice show and it's emotional blackmail. It's a sport. Non one has died. Plus, look at the positives.... There is surely no better team to follow that teaches you more about dealing with adversity than us. What better way to be taught what happens when you refuse to learn from your mistakes when you see our players handball to a player in a worse positions 150 times a game? What team/movie/person can provide as much comedy as we do in 120 minutes? Surely you don't want to just grow being too good and never have any problems like hawthorn? The expectation in life would just be too much.
  25. You mean to say he's dangerous because he kicks the ball forward quickly meaning our forwards don't have extra defenders around them? What an outrageous tactic. Isn't it better to handball backwards and around and around until the defenders get back and then rush a kick onto the boot that lands 20 metres closer to the opposition's goals than if they kicked it in the first place? That sounds like the more logical move.
