What an odd post. You'd be a strong advocate for him, but have heard mixed things? What is going on today? Demonland is bizarro world.
-
You call what we have 'sound administration' and 'stability'? F M D.
-
What are you talking about? Cultural issues over the last 12+ months, struggling to land a shorts sponsor, horrendous club comms. It's time for Pert to go.
-
Again, it's not up to Pert to be calling other footy departments and floating players.
-
Why would list management ask the CEO to ring around other clubs? They would do it themselves.
-
That was Cameron Schwab's MO was it not? And we know how that ended.
-
It's mind-boggling how some posters are supportive of Pert arguing he's met his KPIs. If culture, a training base, growing the membership base, sponsorships and financials are in his wheelhouse (clue, they are), he's been an ordinary appointment.

Rory Sloane to the Dees as Assistant Coach?
Adam The God replied to petzy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Unless we make some tough decisions with number 13 and number 5. -
Yuck.

Why? Because Hawk is saying things you don't like? I'll say it again, Rennick said installing candidates into casual vacancies was not an approach the board said they wanted to take (despite doing it for years) as members had told them they were against it. They have just done what Rennick said they wouldn't do again... against the wishes of members. You or I don't owe the board anything. By holding the board accountable, you are not attacking the club. You are protecting the club from unaccountability.
-
No, I've never agreed with you on your strange want and need for the board to be an unaccountable, autocratic being. When David Rennick, the Vice President was cross examined in May, he repeatedly said the members didn't like having casual vacancies filled just prior to an election. He even said it wouldn't be a practise they would continue, and yet they clearly still are. It's unacceptable. It erodes trust.

Love it.

I'm not sure of Angela's suitability for the board, but I do know that this board are continuing to insert their mates into positions of power. And until this MO stops, how can the board expect members to trust them? Green will then conduct some electioneering when it comes time to vote again, and tell us members who to vote for. It's pathetic and you can see it coming a mile off.

Rory Sloane to the Dees as Assistant Coach?

Funny world. Wasn't it reported on Demomland in like 2012 that he and his family wouldn't go near the club after we promised to draft him and then flaked? Glad to see people can move on after a decade. -
Speed and spread is a coaching and fitness thing. If we added numbers to the stoppage, we'll look quicker. I'd also like Jagga Smith if he's available, for this reason too.
-
Maybe Carlton being nuffies will open the door back to us... I wouldn't want to part with more than one first rounder though. 5 should go on the best player we can get our hands on this year in the draft. And we need another pick inside 25 to land another like Cooper Hynes. Then if Port dropped their high starting point (although given he's contracted they probably don't need to), we could land 2 young mids and an elite user that can play between midfield and half back. That's a solid injection of talent.

Nathan Bassett to Dees as Forwards Coach?
Adam The God replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
What about Ben Hart? Former team mate of Goody's, midfield coach at GWS... Chaplin back to forward coach. Hart to midfield coach. Bassett to defensive coach. Cameron Bruce to strategy and ball movement? Again, soft cap makes this unlikely. -
Andrew McQualter - Appointed coach of the West Coast Eagles

I'm hoping Chaplin back to forward coach (ala 2017-2018, highest scoring team in the comp in '18) and Bassett to the backline. Then that leaves midfield and I hope strategy/ball movement, though I suspect our soft cap is at its limits and we won't have more than three major line coaches. -
Green joined the board in November 2020. Since then we've seen two presidents exit and questionable culture take hold of the club. A portion of blame should absolutely be attributed to him.

The Harry Petty pick. 👌

The next time someone says you can't have a ruckman as a forward coach, just remind them that soon to be premiership winning coach Chris Fagan never even played footy at the top level.
