I think it's a reactionary decision anyway. The net trend was upward in the second half of this season, so they've done it to placate some angry members who have stopped attending because they don't like Goody.

If they'd sacked him in the middle of the year that would have made a lot more sense than waiting until 3 weeks before the end of the season...

The decision shouldn't have been made IMV until the end of the season.

Let him coach out the last three weeks. If they were going to sack him, sack him weeks ago, but instead they've waited until 3 games. It's ridiculous. They tell the players nothing. And then it comes out in the press.

Disgraceful move by a rudderless board. The time for this decision was in three weeks. I had lost faith in Goody to turn the ship, but was prepared for whatever decision the club made. That decision should have happened at the end of the season. I have absolutely no faith in this board or admin to make the right decision. They can't even oversee a FD review properly or ask a CEO his start date before appointing him. Amateur hour. Thank you, Goody for a decade of great service to our club. Despite the lows last year and this year, you have put our club back on the map, my family and I saw a flag we thought we'd never see under your reign and almost always, we've been competitive on field when you've been our coach. Good luck for the future. As for our club, let's hope the board can accidentally get something right.

I prefer the G obviously, but accessibility wise, Marvel is way easier because you can park under the ground. Yes, it's $33 but way easier.

It's become increasingly clear to me that Goody and the FD won a flag in spite of the horrendous off field management of the club. Remembering of course that we changed presidents in 2021. So management did their best to ruin that opportunity too. As far as I'm concerned, we need the club back in AFL hands, because it's clear our ladder climbers sit on our board to further their own careers, with no love for the club (there have been exceptions of course). We've had two recently past presidents that became MFC supporters just prior to sitting in the chair, and a congoline of born to rule board members that seem more interested in what the post can do for them, rather than any incisive strategy and adequate decision making. We've got at least another newly donned board member who supported the Bulldogs until all of a sudden a MFC board position came up.

And the majority of members voted for the status quo. 🤦

Mitchell and O'Meara are the guys they brought in to replace the senior players they jettisoned in the first place.

So who's mentoring the next gen of defender if Lever goes? May has one more year (possibly) left and his leadership style is authoritarian and probably won't fly with younger players. Likewise, we should not get rid of other senior players willy nilly. Hawthorn were in the wilderness for ages because they did that, North the same, and we ourselves know what happens when we clear our senior players and replace them with younger players. All well and good to say we want to get rid of senior players, but you then have to replace them with senior players. Better the devil you know IMO. I don't entirely disagree with you on Clarry, but I think it's still possible he plays an important role going forward. But we need different ideas in the coaches box.

But Trac's game as a forward was always built around score involvements, not kicking goals himself. In the first half of last year when he was on fire, he was kicking goals (see the Carlton game), but his main strength was score involvements around the arc and the pockets.

Because Langdon is an elite winger.

Completely agree. IMV it reflects very poorly on our supporters how some talk. Some post as though premierships should be automatic and can be accidental or flukes. God given things. It's ridiculous, naive and/or arrogant in a multi billion dollar industry to think this way. Yesterday's finish was heinous and the last straw for me with Goody, but I saw people compare it to 186, we lost by a kick after the siren FFS. I was at 186 and I was there yesterday. Completely different situations. We should be better than two straight bottom 4 finishes, but we are also not 186 level or even 148 level insipid. 148 was another I had the horror of seeing. There is no doubt our fall from the top has been drastic. However, this does not undo the incredible 3 years we had at the top as pace setters, and no amount of potting in that thread will erase what Goody gave me and many other Melbourne supporters. Something of dreams and something I thought I'd never witness. We may not have been there to see it in person, but we won a [censored] flag. Goody deserves respect for his tenure as one of our most successful coaches and certainly our most successful coach of the last 50 years. It's a huge achievement, and potting him repeatedly page after page doesn't reflect well on anyone. I hope we can manufacture a dignified exit at the end of 2025, he deserves it. But with this administration, I don't trust them to make the right decision on any front. I hope I'm wrong.

Fortunately, my little bloke had no idea what was happening. But the first thing he said to my wife when we got home, who I finally converted to Melbourne this year, was "Melbourne lost". 🤦
