  1. TU, give us a break. I like your work, but what else have we had to look forward to, in what has been the leanest period in AFL history? I don't lament MFC supporters looking towards the draft. Particularly, when our season is usually shot by Round 2. I'm not so sure 30,000 supporters would have stuck fat across 7 years of rubbish at many of the other AFL clubs. We saw what two lean years did to Essendon. We saw what three lean years did to Carlton. We're a remarkably resilient supporter base and whatever we turn to for solace is completely understandable.
  2. There's not a single MFC supporting kid in the program I coach at. It's just preps, grade 1s, 2s and 3s. But that says it all. A bunch of Hawthorn kids though. I'm convinced that's where tens of thousands of ex-MFC supporters have gone.
  3. We had 9,000ish at a Port Adelaide game at the 'G a few years ago, but I agree.
  4. Spot on, mate. The Blues always clean up against the weak sides and struggle against the good ones. Carlton struggling does provide me with a little bit of solace though.
  5. Because we don't have a forwardline to kick goals or play through. There's just no way we'll be able to kick a winning score against anyone until we get Dawes and/or Hogan back. It's just not going to happen.
  6. The stopping and propping comes from the lack of upfield options though, P. Give us a Dawes or Hogan and you'd see less indecision and quicker ball movement. It really has made it almost impossible for Roos the first three weeks. What can he do? There have been a couple of facets that I think he could have been a little more imaginative with (kick outs being one example), but it really has (pardon the pun) hamstrung our side.
  7. I actually thought he was dominant for a period of about four or five minutes at the start of the last quarter. In that time, surprise, surprise, we hit the lead. The rest of the day he was smashed though. As he was last week and the week before. The answer is no replacements.
  8. Yeah, fair point, mate. I'm sure I could find another gun who doesn't kick many though. It's just fantastic seeing a bloke that consistently cracks 25+ possessions and his efficiency is fantastic. We're coming from a low base. I'm happy with him winning clearances and contested possessions for the moment.
  9. That's rubbish, mate. I love this club. Our football team has been hopeless since 2007, but I won't ever stop supporting and I will go along every week.
  10. Judd doesn't really either. I'm just happy for Tyson to be getting his hands on the ball so often. Once he has some more support and spread from the midfield, I'll expect goals from him.
  11. Vince had 19 touches and was far from our worse. He wasn't great, but he certainly didn't play a shocker. Frawley looked okay as a forward, but the delivery to him was abysmal.
  12. Love it. One of the best written shows of all time. The characterisation, I would describe as 'aspirational realism'. It's about how these characters grow and change as people. They redeem themselves in very subtle and human ways, IMO. It's not for everyone, understandably. I wish some of our players would have character arcs, instead of continual insipidness. If the MFC was a TV show it would have been cancelled a long time ago. Apologies for the horrible segue-way.
  13. And he's lazy. Lazy, lazy, lazy. You only had to look at his game against St Kilda to see that too. Or watch all of last season.
  14. He did a couple of good things, but he was caught on the wrong side of the contest too many times today. He just has no discipline and I really wonder what Jade Rawlings is telling our defenders. I know they are consistently under attack, but their ability to spoil this season, their positioning is so often left wanting. I hope Rawlings isn't the successor. Absolutely agree. I think I remember one, perhaps two kicks through the corridor that hit their targets from Terlich. That's if I'm being very kind. I wonder if those that were singing Terlich's praises all last year are still doing so. He continues to make appalling decisions with ball in hand. Having he, Grimes and M Jones using the ball from the back, it's simply a death wish. I think I would prefer to see Strauss play (I think he's injured). He's had a hopeless career to this point, but let's see what he can do. It couldn't be any worse than Terlich or Grimes.
  15. I've been saying it since we drafted him. He's a horrible kick and an even worse decision maker. I was living through Roos when he was giving that spray. You've also got Grimes who is the most unreliable captain in the history of the game. Then there's Bail, Evans and M Jones. They are borderline VFA standard. Seriously. You cannot win games when all your runners from the back (this is where attack is generated these days), turn it over two out of three times they get it. Furthermore, coaching wise, what is our plan from kick outs? We've still failed to address that since 2005 or '06.
  16. So you've got Terlich, Bail, Evans, M Jones and Grimes, most of whom play off half back. None of them can kick it and every one of them is an atrocious decision maker. You cannot win games with one player of that sort in your team, let alone FIVE of them. Oh and Kent has to learn to tackle. Absolutely as soft as butter. EDIT. Terlich, Bail, Evans, M Jones and Grimes wouldn't get a game for any other AFL team. One of them is our captain.
  17. As will be the case until we get some KPFs back, I just can't see us kicking a winning score.
  18. I agree, but Jack just has to learn to control that aggression at the stoppages. He gives too many free kicks away at this stage. He's a beautie though.
  19. What was Terlich doing there? He's spare man and he just let the GWS guy go.
  20. Half this team is not AFL standard with their disposal.
