Grimes turns it over again. Absolute liability.
-
Salem is an absolute gun. What poise!

Grimes is done as a player. An absolute joke. What leadership.
-
You're an ordinary captain, Grimes. Have a jog.

No, I genuinely want to know. I'll take it, just tell me if it has been reported somewhere or if it's inside info you've heard etc. Thanks.

Hogan tells Hawkins to stay positive
Adam The God replied to hells bells's topic in Melbourne Demons
Even though I knew the result, I watched the 11pm replay. I wanted to see Geelong struggle, but I was intrigued to see how well Sydney played. Their ball movement off half back and numbers at every contest was simply awesome. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10

That could work too. With a new midfield coach in Stone, I would expect him to look less lost and actually know where to be positioned at stoppages. Last year he looked lost, but so did most of our mids. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10

I'll be intrigued to see how Roos plays Trenners upon his return. I'd say he'll probably play him as a defensive forward, come wingman. It'll be interesting to see though. In his first two years he was a terrific kick from outside 50, he could be very dangerous on the edge of the 50m arc and his tackling pressure could be a real asset, despite his lack of speed. He's a smart player. Can't wait for his return. Digression! -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 10

Strong midfield and forwardline, but the backline are just hard-working role players. Yep. A big bag's on the cards, I reckon. He and Wingard might just be the difference. -
Really? Where has this been stated? Not having a go, mate, just wondering.
-
Yeah, that just added to the 'basketcase' tag we had. It's fantastic knowing there are professional people running the club.
-
Sydney's half back line ripped the Cats apart. Their rebound and run through the middle was intense.

There is another possibility. He's not staying long term, but he's not finishing at the end of this year either. Two or three more years ought to do it. I don't remember anyone saying he wouldn't stay past 2014, just that he won't be at MFC until 2020.

Are you saying we'll get six players? I think we might be able to land three players at most. There's no way we'd get Luke Park and Jack.

Players to target at the end of the year
Adam The God replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Also, on Kennedy. At Hawthorn he seemed to be played out of position a bit, mostly for his own development, but this showed up his lack of pace and at the time, decision making. There's no doubt he was a fantastic pick up though and Roos' ability to instil confidence with unchanged teams probably helped JPK's development. -

Yeah, you're probably right. -
Contested Possessions -How good are we!!!
Adam The God replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's actually a similar ethos that we played to under Neeld. Kick long around the boundary and kill the ball over the boundary at every opportunity and re-set. The problem with this under Neeld was that we'd rarely win the throw in stoppage. A similar thing was happening earlier this season under Roos and I think our inability to win the throw in stoppages against GCS and the Swans was a major factor in those loses. Over the last three matches, I haven't seen the stats, but I would imagine that we've improved dramatically in this area. For this, a lot of credit has to go to Mark Jamar, who I had ridden off as finished. Stone and Roos have to take a lot of the credit, as well as the midfielders themselves. * Damn it. My previously post was lost, but I think this is the crux of what I was saying. -
Yeah, I agree. I still think he'll continue past the three years as senior coach. I think he's trying to keep the club in check and leave himself a plan B if it goes pear-shaped, but I guess what I'm saying is that it's not working as well as it could. Still, I'm glad we have him for now.

Contested Possessions -How good are we!!!
Adam The God replied to Demon17's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think Demon17 meant that the stat has been kept annually for the past 3 years, but this particular year we are second. The stat re-sets every year. -
It'll be interesting to see just how much pull Roos has. I think him signing on for only two or three years could hamper some prospective players from choosing Melbourne though. If he didn't keep flagging this successor plan, I think there'd ironically be more stability. I know what he's trying to do, but it wouldn't make me pick Melbourne.
-
Haha, if we got those three, we'll be playing finals next season. I hope you're right, mate.
-
Go on. Who are the two GWS players you think we'll go after and nab? I like this thread, BTW.
-
The cynical side of me says, what else is he going to say? But I feel in recent seasons they wouldn't have been saying anything at all. Something along the lines of "give it our best shot". I hope we bring a frenetic and frenzied effort, much like Port imposed on Hawthorn last week.

Players to target at the end of the year
Adam The God replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think we should target the players we actually really want and go after them hard. If it's undermining another club, then so be it. -
Roos' rule: Stability helps to breed success
Adam The God replied to Adam The God's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree. I thought that exact thing myself. They'd be very interesting reading, I reckon.
