  1. I think the greatest exhibit of Goodwin's proposed game style was witnessed in the Geelong win. The words coming out of the club in the lead up to and afterwards back this up too. That's not to say Goodwin won't always look to tweak his style, like all great coaches do, but I reckon it'll be more like our Geelong game. Really attacking. Using the corridor. Fast, sling-shot footy from half back.
  2. I don't want to deal with the Roos or Freo. If they help drive up his price, great, but I want us to be dealing with GCS. I'm sure our FD hold the same view.
  3. I've been saying he's one dimensional for three years. It's got nothing to do with his contract status, but I acknowledge his inexplicable trade value.
  4. It's not ideal, but if having to rely on Pedersen and/or Dawes is our biggest problem in 2016, we'll be very well placed for a shot at the lower reaches of the 8.
  5. No idea, mate. Haha. Ask the FD. But I suspect either Vince will continue in the shut down role or it will be handed to someone else, potentially Melksham.
  6. I agree the comparisons between Vince and Melksham are off, but I can understand the notion that Melksham could be as important to us playing his role as Vince is playing his. Their outputs will be different, because positionally, I think there will be different expectations. Having said all that, I've made is plainly clear that I don't rate Melksham, however I'm prepared to back in the FD.
  7. His decision making is the bigger concern for me. He really does play reactive, dumb footy at times. I'd love to see him play forward next year. I reckon he could offer us something up there.
  8. I know very little about him. In fact, I don't recall seeing him play, but if he has any toe, his disposal is neat and he's strong in the contest, he'd certainly fill a role.
  9. This is exactly the sort of deal I'm sure the club were hoping Howe could be involved in. Reckon Watts might be involved in a similar type trade elsewhere if the price is right with next year's first rounder.
  10. I reckon it's just as likely that we offered him a low contract (read 'lowballed him'), hoping he'd say he'd prefer to test the market. Sure enough, that's what he said. We said beauty, we might get something out of this afterall. That's how I would have played it if I was Todd Viney. Reckon we offered about $250k then.
  11. Well, didn't he barrack for them as a kid? He wouldn't be too concerned about that, I wouldn't think.
  12. What I meant (facetiously) was that Freo could be playing funny buggers and telling Bennell to look as unappealing as possible to the rest of the competition.
  13. Or is that what Freo wanted us all to think?
  14. Good post. I used to love Colin, then went cold on him, due to his limitations. It's funny, but reading some of those quotes has made me fall back in love again. What a legend. I too will back the club in here. What I want to see from him is an attack on the game. That is, run and carry, taking a few risks off half back. We can't carry reactionary defenders who stuff around with dinky little kicks across half back and are hesitant one-on-one. When Colin is playing his best, he's beating forwards one-on-one (with a good spoil away) and then rebounding strongly. Alternatively, what I'd much prefer to see Colin in next year is the swingman role. Could see him being a really handy second KPF, particularly if we trade Dawes, even if we don't. Hogan, Pedersen and Garland would be tough to deal with.
  15. Haha, I'll probably check in to Demonland each day anyway.
  16. I'm just saying I'd prefer not to wait. I arrive back in the country after trade week is over, so less [censored]-teasing for me and just the real news at the end of it all.
  17. There's always the internet. Two years ago. Last year, there was talk about a big fish all off season and then nothing.
  18. Not sure it was a lot of mongrel, but he was the one that cleaned up Riewoldt earlier this year (?) or was it last year?
  19. Thanks everyone for your contributions. Demonland is the awesomeness that makes each season far more interesting than it would otherwise be. Not to mention, the site is a great reminder that I'm not alone in the torment that has been the past decade following my beloved Demons.
