  1. Love Aliir Aliir as a player. Would fit in nicely to our back six. As would Jones, who has really become a good player nowadays. Maybe a little defensively left wanting at times, but a really exciting player. And unlike many speedy linebreakers, is tough at the contest and in the air.
  2. For such a reliable defender, Grundy has been ordinary this year. And tonight has cost them probably 3 or 4 goals.
  3. Interesting. I'd actually just go Peter Wright. He comes out of contract at the end of 2019. Our window will be open well and truly by then. I reckon we go for him, but at the moment I'm happy enough to allow Weideman to develop alongside Hogan and Watts. I disagree with this in time. Weideman and Hogan will rotate from deep and CHF. We can also play a tall KPF beside them. At the moment, I'm happy to go small, quick and agile at the feet of Hogan, Weideman and Watts. As much as he is fast becoming the best player in the game, the money we'd have to fork out would be too much and I'd fear it'd upset our list balance from a financial perspective. I think we have to hold out for a gun FA until they're either willing to take a pay cut to come over, or come across without us having to break the bank.
  4. Yep, agree with that, but their midfield depth in terms of genuine guns is not what it once was. Or, perhaps, it's more that midfields have to run deeper these days. I'd argue ours runs a lot deeper than theirs.
  5. I seem to remember this as well. I wonder if we read it on Demonland then?
  6. Yep, Jack is pretty much finished as a player. Amazing. Was a gun. No longer.
  7. It'd also be a PB for Weeds. Can't see him kicking that many. I'll take two.
  8. Different strokes for different folks. I'm not a Bugg fan at all, but I also like Goody's selections, so I'll back him in this week.
  9. I wonder if they were so disappointed in Oscar's form that they rushed Frost back or whether it was a sign of how high Goody rates Frost. It could, of course, be a mixture of both.
  10. If you mean "big" as in height, he's taller than TMac, but if you mean weight, yeah, Tom is heavier. I'd agree on the rest though. I think Oscar struggled in the St Kilda game, did well in the Carlton game and struggled last week - I thought our defence, with the exception of Jetta was really poor though. Very interesting to see him dropped nevertheless. That was a bit left field. Didn't think Goody would drop him, but that's good to see. Would be fascinating to get a reason why. I may have answered it myself, but that's tough. I like Frost though as well, so looking forward to seeing what he can do this weekend. Wouldn't be surprised to see him take a few rucking contests either.
  11. I find his intensity at times to be lacking and he loses concentration during key moments, but I'm a fan. Would like to see more upper body strength, but that will come, as will the decision-making and other standards. I agree though that a little bit of time down at VFL level won't necessarily do him any harm. I'm certainly not in the Steve camp. I think he'll be a player.
  12. I was taking the [censored] about the name, mate. I don't care what he's called, although I'm with WB in that I hadn't heard him referred to as Ozzie before. So how many takeaways did he create? Did they have that stat or not? Because if they didn't, they should have if they were going to use this as a segment. It has legs as a way of examining efficiency. I hate the DE stat and the turnover stat, as this topic would suggest, is misleading.
  13. So hang on. The Ox put forward OMac (I'm not calling him Ozzie) even though he's only had three turnovers in three games? It must have been an inspiring segment. I'm sure Oscar's average of one turnover a game sparked lots of discussion. Surely, you'd pick a player that exhibits this "giveaways" and "takeaways" theory...? Loved Schwarta as a player, but as a commentator he appeals to the lowest common denominator.
  14. What do you dislike about the current state of the game? GCS and GWS were the legacy of the last boss.
  15. Well, it turned out that apparently Jetta wasn't match fit. I think it's pretty clear that Jetta is in Goodwin's plans. At least, at the moment. Rightfully so too. Nev has been in our best 5 each week so far. And he's got on the scoreboard 2 out of 3 weeks. His kicking also looks to attack the corridor more than I recall too.
  16. Can't quite understand why some wouldn't want footy on a Friday night or any night for that matter.
  17. I questioned whether he was in Goodwin's plans. There's a difference.
  18. Still don't think he'll surpass Nev. If Nev gets a full season uninjured/suspended and we start winning (ie. He's playing in a good team), he could well get an AA jumper.
  19. I'd love that, but as he's only got a one year deal with us, they'll just talk him into walking for free.
  20. When he comes back, I'd be playing him at half back. This is where he has played his best footy. And given how we use our half backs as essentially wingers, extra mids or as the term may be, inside sliders, he's perfectly suited to that role as he hits the contest hard and is a beautiful penetrating kick once he gets it. He could be really dangerous in that position. It's all well and good to demand your players have versatility, but he's never been good in the half forward role. But some of that might be a confidence thing at this stage, so play him in a position where he can gain some confidence first and then push him forward if you must.
