  1. I'd argue it's a values proposition now mate. Draft picks or the player you eventually get. Six good or okay players versus one Christian Petracca or Clayton Oliver. I like the aggressive backing of our recruiting team. But it sounds like it's a moot point anyway.
  2. People overrate picks too much. If Reid is the best player in the draft, do whatever it takes with your draft pick currency to get a deal done. We've put it out there, doesn't sound like it's going to happen now. @Mach5 is probably right and we need to pivot to facilitate the play for North, whilst strengthening our own draft hand.
  3. I think what Dwight is saying is that height is irrelevant. He doesn't think Caddy plays like a KPF. Hence Caddy vs JVR 'they're different players'.
  4. I need to watch more of Duursma, because from what I have seen he seems soft. But he's valued very highly, and I rate your opinion too, so will need to do more research to convince myself haha.
  5. Good call mate. I guess it's that Weideman pick in a draft with all those talls that makes it seem like a worse record haha.
  6. Caddy looks a very ordinary kick to me. I don't get the wraps on him. I'd have Curtin or O'Sullivan at 6 IMO. I'd have O'Sullivan ahead, but that's just me. JT has a better record with mids than talls (Petty being the exception), so it'll be interesting to see who we rate in the top 10.
  7. Quite incredible that we've got a chance to land Curtin, @Pennant St Dee, and will pikely land him at 6. We love the West Aussies too. We have spoken to him, right, mate?
  8. One of my co coaches out at Caulfield Grammar who's a St Kilda supporter says he needs to play forward pocket and he'll be very handy, but he claims he's got no idea in midfield or on the wing. I said, well, we've probably brought him in to play high half forward/wing and he said, he won't be much use then. I'll reserve judgement. I think he'll be handy. He's no softer at it than Lingers, but a better kick. I'd use him like Kozzy, a front of stoppage player at high half forward and deep forward, with some potential wing minutes. It'd certainly be nice to have some more genuine competition for wing spots. Let's hope he can provide it.
  9. I have a feeling O'Sullivan is going to be a star, but I think Reid will be too, so I'm happy with either.
  10. So many people [censored] the bed. Each to their own, but I don't like [censored] in my bed.
  11. Agree with all this. I reckon we're gonna get Reid. Bookmark is out and ready.
  12. But what about the promise to upgrade D Turner to the primary list? That leaves us one less primary list spot.
  13. Sure, but unless we get Reid, I can't see us having enough list spots.
  14. This is pretty much my view. I think McAdam will add x factor to our forward half and therefore improve us, so it's then about getting continuity forward of centre with Petty, Fritta, McAdam, JVR and Fullarton. Ideally, we get 10 games out of TMac or BB, but I think they're both done.
  15. Adelaide might want to remember that they do not operate in a closed market. The longer they [censored] around, the less likely we are to be accommodating next time.
  16. The thing about the Naughton deal is it's like Clarry and Trac's deal. Such a long term that it provides flexibility and certainty to list management strategy and TPP management. If Naughton had signed a shorter deal, say five years, then I think JUH would have been gettable. That said, Croft coming in is another that threatens that key tall post. I wouldn't be surprised if Naughton and Darcy end up taking the key back posts.
  17. Our last 4 or 5 games against them we've had 'all duck, no dinner' (Langdon); 'see you in two weeks' (Mcrae); football action (Maynard); and now we have May's we're better than them. There's definitely a fierce rivalry building. That said, I'd much prefer our players letting the football do the talking. May has to back that up now.
  18. And what will it do? Make you feel better? How will it help the Melbourne Football Club?
  19. I'd go top end talent. If we can get that gamebreaker/gamechanger like Trac or Clarry with Reid, go hard for it. We have, I'd argue, 25 or so players that are AFL quality and we therefore have a strong bottom 6. The more we turn over the list and replace those guys that we have question marks over (Harmes, Dunstan, Grundy), and replace them with McAdam, Reid etc, the stronger our bottom 6 will become. And draft picks are just that. Draft picks. If we had to give up 3 picks and we got another Clarry or Trac, what would you say? The punt is worth it.
  20. Why? I don't want the club showing their hand. Downright dumb. 'Hey, rest of league, here's our plan for next year.' Why do some supporters think the club owes them a response at every turn? And don't give me the 'I'm a paid up member' claptrap. It's dumb. And the club should STFU and get on with trying to win premierships, not spend their time placating neggy nuffies who [censored] the bed every time something doesn't go perfectly.
