  1. It's a really tough call. But i would like to see him be given another year. I think a melb forward line with him in it is better than without. He had an absolute shocker last week but he usually goes alright against scarlett. I believe he's still good enough to take the number one defender each week which would help our young forward line develop. That said exposing them to top defenders may be better for them. There are gonna be some big calls made the end of this year and it'll be interesting to see how the list turns out.
  2. Agreed i did much the same. she was terrible. some people have it, some don't. I'd like to say i'd give her another week but i could not listen to her again if she was calling a match i wantede to watch. Scrapheap for mine.
  3. but she was a women was she not? i was not being sexist just merely describing the goal umpire. or am i not allowed to mention she was a women for fear of coming across as sexist? It was totally relevant being that she was a women.
  4. i believe that was jurrah who hit up petterd. anyway, i was just curious as to why he was in the votes.
  5. agreed. she was awful. i'm all for getting women involved in the game but i could not stand to listen to that tripe. i turned her down and tried to listen to the radio but the 5 second delay killed it. ruined the match for me. enjoyed richo's comments though. he'll slot in nicely when he decides to hang up the boots. Also that bloody women goal umpire cost us that first goal too. touched my arse!!! anyone see the eagles game where hansen punched the ball back into play as a set shot sailed through the behinds and the goal umpire let play continue as the eagles tried to manufacture a goal in the pocket. about 15 seconds later the goal umpire ran out onto the field and informed the umpire that it was a point. the 15 secs weren't reinstated. umpires and timekeepers have been having a shocking season...
  6. I wasn't writing him off YM i just didnt think he had a great game and was surprised some people had him in their votes. I was wondering if i missed something. He certainly wasn't the worst on the field.
  7. sorry if this is off topic but i don't wanna start a new one. a few people were impressed with jetta today. I thought he looked sub par and failed to make an impact. Now don't label me as a jetta hater cos i watched him all last year at swans and i am a big fan of the kid. i just thought he looked lost and a couple of incidents like the run down where he got a free for a push in the back made me have second thoughts. he looked like he had an average game to me but granted bi was distracted by that awful call by underwood.
  8. damn you jarka, beat me to it. agreed.
  9. kicking efficiency is the most overhyped stat. scully was probably getting twice as many kicks as those he's being compared, added to the fact he was in a poorer side than the wa boys would indicate he was the goto man under pressure. i could run onto the ground, shank a kick 20m off the side of the boot into a team mates arms, get dragged and have a kicking efficiency of 100.00% scully as of now is a clear leader in this draft and looks unlikely to be overhauled. if a kicking efficiency stat is causing you to doubt his value as a number one pick, i would say watch the kid on youtube, read reports abut him. all things willing, he'll be a star. he'll go number 1.
  10. lewis is a gun, watched him chop up perth a few weeks ago. There are quite a few jettas in the swannies ranks this year.
  11. I was at the the eagles saints game on sunday and if masten gets the nod above jurrah for that performance i'll tear my hair out. He is awful and the fair weather eagle supporters are already turning on him, which i think is a bit unfair. He was often referred to as the new fletcher... Bit harsh methinks, let's not say things we cant take back.
  12. I'm with you rojik!!! I was on the edge of the way to the eaglesb saints game listening to rex and the boys bring us home. i was screaming at the radio which decided that with 5 mins to go and us up by 11 it would switch over to the weagles game preview just like it did in the tigers game. needless to say the poor girl at 882 6PR copped a serve. I was delighted to hear the boys had won. F**k the draft picks, we will get the ones we deserve. I don't see us winning two more games, i think we'll get over freo at the g and thats perhaps it. Tigers will come back hard at us. I'm sick of only beating rich freo and wce. Its good to beat a somewhat better team and i hate the power!!!! If we only win four, pick up scully and have to 'settle' for pick three i'll be a happy man. The draft is usually a lottery anyway. obviously scully is at the front now but in 5 years time who knows where he'll be or who's gone past him. Even if we miss out on him and i'll get over it. Finishing above the eagles, tigers and dockers would be priceless....
  13. I agree we should give the "fringe" players a go and see how they perform. Newton, valenti and bail and i would add bell desperately need to show something or i fear it could be all over. Plenty of talent but it just doesn't seem to translate to afl. But they've never really had a decent chance to get going. Let them play out the season. However if i was a young kid coming through i'd be [censored] to see these boys getting a run ahead of me, so i can see why bailey wants to field his best side. Bartram, dunn, miller and pj need an extended run but i believe all are considered a part of the side going forward. Buckley needs to get his body right but he's shown what he can do. I wouldnt include beamer or rivers in that list. Beamer is playing well after just completing his first decent preseason and rivers is finally fit, touch wood. Can't see the club getting rid of him with the patience they've shown getting him right physically, plus he'll only get better and better. Robbo will have another year in him and it's important he sticks around to help the development of watts, jurrah and dare i say it miller. Might be time for wheels to hang up the boots at years end and i think junior will follow him.
  14. Looks likes the swans have finally said enough is enough. Will anyone pick him up???
  15. heart breaking, just heart breaking. I'm worried at how serious it just might be but i believe big Jimmy could beat anything. Our club has the worst luck. Best Wishes Big Fella
  16. It depends on how long our poor jimma is gonna be out for. Those asking for Gaz to step up are getting a bit ahead of theirselves although i wouldnt be suprised if he did put his hand up. Mclardy did wonders with Jim and I think he would be great also. How bout leoncelli???
  17. why is maric's not up there and petterds/dunns are....
  18. I had an interesting chat with bailey at the aftergame function monday regarding cale, well actually my missus did. We know Cale, he's a good mate of my sisters, so my gf marched up to bailey and asked him why on earth he was playing him in the backline. She is a collingwood fan and compared it to mick's idea of playing thomas off a hb flank. Bailey had a laugh and told her quite simply that in the future, as cale develops as a player he will be subjected to tags most weeks. he said he needed to learn how to drop to a hb in an effort to break such tags and was keen to expose him to the role so he wouldn't be a fish out of water. He added it would also help cale to develop defensive pressure, his disposal skills under pressure and accountability. Speaking with cale later on in the night, he echoed db sentiments.
  19. that is straight of the collingwood forums but it is a great report and suprisingly unbiased for magpies fan. good job
  20. oh my god. this is insane. im flying to melbourne tonight for the game and i cant believe the moons have aligned and watts is making his debut. tis fate i tell you. was going to buy the new guernsey from the club store and get 19 on the back but it shall be replaced with the number 4. sorry adam. maybe i'll get two... btw im an interstate member and have not recieved an email or text. i feel left out. did i have to sign up for something? any wa members received anything??
  21. god i hate relegation dogfights... we can't go down, it's not right... howay the lads!!
  22. i'm frothing too mate. making the trek across the country to see the boys at the g again. i can't wait. i hope we get up. i think we can do them over.
  23. i really thought they'd hang on to him til the end of his contract. footy classified seemed to think he was sticking around last night. crazy.

    Dunn

Finally someone with a half decent post. Dunn will be at melbourne for a long time. You need versatile players like him in every side. Give the young kids TIME!!!! They will develop. People bagged out frawley, jones and garland, and they are still bagging morton. God forbid watts comes in and doesnt kick a goal........
  25. Newcastle 5 Man U 0 for me haha
