  1. Look, I value Nate Jones and respect the bloke. But he's never been more than just a good footballer. Having him amongst the club's greats on the basis on loyalty alone, sure, but if he's classified as one of the club's "greats" well that epitomises how [censored] we've been. No offense Jonsey.
  2. Viney and Jones have been immense disappointments this year. Jones has had one "leader's" game and that was against Sydney. I am not expecting him to set the world on fire but his drop into mediocrity has peaked this season and it would be difficult to justify a spot for him in the top 22 next year. Viney has had obvious physical battles but it's more clear every week that we can't have Oliver, Brayshaw and Viney competing for the same ball. Goodwin needs to grow a pair and start making changes because it's not working. Gawn is far and away our only on-field leader.
  3. First one to really put the heat on Goodwin. "This one sits in the coaches box." Can't see it turning around this season. That gives Goodwin 6-8 weeks in 2020.
  4. Should have started after the Adelaide loss. All pointless now. But this week's game was arguably our worst on a skills front for the season so unsurprisingly the heat has risen now. Looking forward to listening.
  5. I've been in the Acceptance stage since our Hawthorn loss last year, just waiting for the inevitable, looking for ways to change and improve where we were. I admittedly fell for the hype early on but it was the Saints loss in round 5 that had me back to where I was, accepting that we have a long way to go. Many here are still firmly in the Denial or Anger phases.
  6. Almost identical. High hopes. Among premiership favourites. We get a couple of injuries and it all breaks down. We really need to be mentally prepared for another 4-5 years down the bottom.
  7. Sure, but at the same time, you're talking about a pretty significant change to the way the game is structured with 6-6-6, and a team that has seen both collective drop off across the boards, of perhaps among the greatest drop offs season-on-season after finals of all time. All year, we have looked more like a poorly coached team, than a poor team. Gold Coast are a poor team. Earlier in the season I remember someone here posting that they couldn't tell if we were playing bad or we were just trying really hard for no reward. Or if we were simply just a bad team. It is extremely difficult to put your finger on. Goodwin's press conferences the past two weeks have been his most honest of his coaching career, but also his most damning: three years into his coaching career, his team's skill are getting progressively worse, they are being utterly smoked in final quarters, and there is zero -- ZERO -- mention of gameplan. Why? Because the actual fundamentals have gone missing. How does a team lose grasp of the fundamentals to such a degree that it allows almost 100 points from turnovers, can barely score, can't transition, can't rebound, can't defend, can't tackle, and on and on? Skill errors are one thing. But I don't think skills are a catalyst here. They are very clearly a symptom of a complete systematic breakdown. That is down to the coach.
  8. I was super defensive after the Port loss but the Saints loss in round 5 I think it was turned me.
  9. what is concerning scoop is that it was the same in 2014. We were in front in 10 final quarters. We won 4 games for the year. And lost our last 10. We look set to end the season on 7 straight losses. Not only do we find a way to lose. it appears we've forgotten how to win. The loser culture is still prevalent.
  10. Mate we were never a chance. That Saints aren't that good is a GOOD thing because if we play like that vs Richmond we will lose by 20 goals. That was a putrid performance. We may not have been *hammered* persay, but we were begging for the Saints to hammer us.
  11. suggests there is a disconnect and/or lack of intent in regards to the gameplan. In some regard it does come back to the coach. We know how good they can be because they were literally ranked 1st at one point. They are now playing and coaching themselves into the ground. Astonishing.
  12. Goodwin: We were outplayed for majority of the night. In the end, we were lucky to be in it. Our decision-making and fundamentals are just stressing our game.
  13. Gawn - Only true leader Oliver - Many useless touches Harmes - Most damaging mid Salem - Defender became Defended Lever - Mostly okay interceptor Trac - In and Out ANB - Uninspiring and wasteful Petty - Liked his fire Brayshaw - Typical 2019 game Frost - Never hit teammates Viney - Not my captain Fritsch - Still finding form Hunt - Speedy yet slow Lewis - Was okay forward J Wagner - Why oh why? OMac - Not a player Tim Smith - Oh he played? Jetta - Lost in moment Jones - is retirement imminent? Hibberd - Fall from grace Baker - tried by raw C Wagner - Never again, please
  14. Imagine losing to this spud of a club twice in two years. Imagine beating them only 3 times in 13 [censored] years. 14 inside 50s in a row to the Saints. [censored]. Pathetic.
  15. Harmes spoils it, but 4 Saints players nearby lineup to swoop it up. Pathetic. This season is running on fumes.
  16. Our star midfield once again MIA in the last. Bruce just waiting for another deep entry. Who's ready for more heartbreak?
  17. Let's be honest, even a win tonight won't change much. It would be nice, but it won't change much.
  18. Finally ANB does something. why does he grind his jaw every time he kicks a goal like as if he's been doing blow?
  19. Why us OMac still on Bruce? Why do Bruce and Membrey consistently smoke us every time we play them? Who is going to stand up?
  20. trust a melbourne player to be the first player all year to get called play on for taking too long to take a shot.
  21. Membrey and Bruce with 31 of Saints' 56 points. They must lick their lips when they play us.
