Then messaged my mate on our internal messenger about it as he's in a building on the other side of William St. All he sent back to me was that Dawes wasn't giving much away but he reckons he might be off to the blues.

Work with a guy who studies law with Dawes. Asked him directly last night if he was going to be traded. Dawes played a straight bat but my mate was left with the impression he may be off to Carltank.

Yeah he was mentioned when they were talking about Toumpas for Melksham. However The Age this morning referenced it was going to be Toumpas for Kennedy and Young was the likely link instead. That many different scenarios get thrown around!

So it's sounding like: Toumpas to Port Young to the Filth Kennedy to Melbourne. Can't really complain with that I wouldn't have thought. Leaves our 2nd & 3rd round picks to secure Melksham & Bugg and the likes of Howe & Dawes on the table to get us back into the draft after Pick 6. I'm assuming by players not good enough to get a regular game, you mean players who played 16 games this year and the games he missed mainly being due to injury? Firstly I'd be thrilled if the whole Tyson being traded thing goes nowhere. Love him and would rather he stay. But disgree that the scenario does not improve the list. Griffiths fills the 2nd key forward/ruck role that we're after. Turning 25 next year and getting ready to hit his straps. Watch his first quarter and a half against us in Round 4 this year before he hurt his ankle. Was looking extremely dangerous and I reckon is due for a big 2016. Then at Pick 12 we could potentially pick up someone like Balic, Tucker, Bonner etc. On the other hand as I said, I'm more then keen to have Dom stay and watch him recapture his 2014 form next year.

If the Tigers want Tyson they can give us Pick 12 & Griffiths. Otherwsie not interested.

There wasn't a lot of talk regarding us. Apart from the brief discussion about Toump, the only other things of note were Paul Connors said he expects Jack Watts to still be at Melbourne next year, but 'anything can happen'. And Scott Clayton from Gold Coast mentioned that he would be meeting with Howe. Aaron Black's manager came out and as good as said that he'll be looking at his options. If only he could pinch hit in the ruck, i'd be really keen on him.

I'd happily trade Dawes & Pick 43 to Essendon for Melksham & Pick 59. Then just pick up Mason Shaw or Mitch Harvey as a DFA. Edit: DFA.

If we trade Dawes,as Wiseblood said we'll need to have a replacement lined up. Even if the plan is for Pedersen to be Hogan foil, we need someone else is the squad to cover injuries. I know a few weeks back we were linked to Josh Walker at one point. Then there's a few delisted free agents we could look at like Mason Shaw or Mitch Harvey. I'd be keen on Shaw, but if there's no one lined up then we may as well keep Dawes for the last year of his contract for depth.

If Crossy does go to another club, i wonder if they look at Brad Green?I know when Roos brought Miller in, he talked of the importance of having a Melbourne person in the coaching team. Green was just let go by Carlton, so if Cross doesn't accept the offer, Brad could certainly be an idea for Miller's replacement?
