Nothing overly exciting. Just saying Dockers trading Lobb to Bulldogs for Pick 29 will go along way to helping get the Jackson deal done, noting the Dockers are also trying to get Jeremy Sharp from Gold Coast.
-
Long Island is a great hidden spot.
-
So are you saying the Dees should relocate to Frankston for a similar advantage???
-
Jackson to Fremantle. Fremantle send Pick 13 to Filth and future 2nd Round Pick to Gold Coast. Collingwood send Grundy to Melbourne. Gold Coast send Bowes and Pick 7 to Melbourne with Freo picking up a large portion of Bowes contract. Dees get Bowes, Grundy and Pick 7 for Jackson Gold Coast get a future 2nd Round Pick and cap relief for Bowes and Pick 7. Filth get Pick 13 for Grundy. Freo get Jackson for Pick 13, Future 2nd Rounder and taking on part of Bowes contract?

I wouldn't be opposed to Francis. Could finally see him reach his potential and play him back while shifting Petty forward.
-
Pass on all the above names.
-
Agreed. If they had everyone play eachother once that makes 17 rounds. Means you could do the Magic Round easily. Not sure about SA, but WA could use the WACA. They used to play some games there back in the 90's and the facilities must be somewhat reasonable given they still use it for First Class Cricket.
-
Still say he should have come in for Tait for the 5th Ashes Test at The Oval in 2005.
-
I see him more in the Tim Membrey mould than Fritsch/Gunston. Capable of playing as a key forward due to his build and strong hands.
-
Just saw on their Facebook feed SOS say Melbourne's asking price of two early first round picks for Jackson is too much! F*%k me sideways! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. This is the same guy that demanded two first round picks for a cooked Bryce Gibbs.🙄

You said he's struggling (your words), not that he's not dominating. Turner is averaging 10.5 disposals a match. In the AFL Petty averaged 10.6 this year. Should he be dropped? Maybe you should educate yourself on the modern game. Everyone has a role, and the coaches obviously believe Turner has played his well enough to get a senior game this year. Now I'm not for a moment saying he'll be a star. But in no way has he struggled in the VFL this year.
-
You realise he's a key defender yeah? His main role is to prevent his opponent and the opposition scoring. I'd rather him average 9 disposals a game and average 1 goal against then average 20 disposals a game and 4 goals against...

Come again????🧐

Really good point. If we're lucky we could trade Salem and draft the next Jordan Gysberts!
-
If Kossi wants out, the price is Rachelle plus pick upgrades. Freo need to figure out a way to prize Pick 1 off North so they can send us Meek and Pick 1 for Jackson. At least then we'd end up with Rachelle, Meek and Cadman for Jackson and Pickett.
-
So rather then trial and error you reckon just assuming it wouldn't work is the better solution and persisting with an unfit B Brown, and Melksham was better??? Good work. He played forward at times with GWS sharing the forward line with the likes of Cameron, Patton and Lobb and kicked 35 goals and was a main stay in their team.

I'm amazed we never tried Tomlinson forward to replace TMc. He has similar strengths in his running ability, so was shocked it wasn't tried even once.
-
That's my understanding.
-
Thanks for that. Couldn't see it in the guide.

Looks like the VFL has been bumped from the TV today. Channel 7 going with the passing of the Queen coverage l, because heaven knows there hasn't been enough of that over the last 24 hours....

I think there's still a lot of raw emotion floating around (understandably), but suggestions Salem should go etc are laughable. TEAM CHANGES Retired: Daw Delist: Mitch Brown, Baker, Melksham, Rosman (re-rookie) Trade: Bedford, Tomlinson, Jackson (keep if he wishes to stay) Free Agent Departure: Hunt (offer contract, but let walk if price too high) Trade Bait: Weideman, Neal-Bullen Forward line structure to consist of Fritsch, Pickett, Tom McDonald, Van Rooyen and then don't be afraid to trial Laurie and Chandler ahead of Spargo and Neal-Bullen. Don't be afraid to give Blake Howes a go if his form warrants it and a review into our fitness base and last quarter fade outs is also paramount.

Great post. The Tennis Club is the one that would need to make way and also makes the most sense. They're still on the old onticar tennis courts which are fast being removed and replaced with the Plexicushion courts, so it would make sense to help them on their way. The space where the courts currently are could be used for a carpark and buildings. And you're right, if we could turn Brunswick Street Oval into one of the premier AFLW grounds, it would really appeal to the community there.

I get what you're saying. My view point is that Fitzroy are essentially dead these day and Brisbane do little to nothing to keep their connection going, unlike Sydney with South Melbourne. As for the not in my back yard types comment, I agree there's plenty of them in that area (I lived there for a short while). All I'd say is we'd just need to look to make it as community friendly as possible. That's the best way to appeal to the lot in that area. We would only need it enclosed during game day times for the purposes of ticketing. Otherwise like Waverley currently or even Gosch's Paddock, it would be open for anyone to walk through as they currently do. The selling point of the development would be about improving the facility. Community Centre near the original entrance, do up the old Grand Stand removing the squatters and all new buildings to be built with a retro finish to fit into the area. It would also involve new Tennis Courts and club being built up near the North playground which is good for them and improved facilities at Alfred Crescent Oval which again is good for the Cricket Club.

Although it falls into the seat of Richmond in the state electorate which is safe Labor. As for those suggesting its too much of a shoe box, does anyone know what the dimensions are? Obviously as part of any build they can re-do the dimensions some what. We could at the very least get it Marvel Stadium size dimensions wise?

I know they're wedded to be as close as possible to the MCG precinct, but why they have not explored developing Brunswick Street Oval is beyond me. The ground has history being the home of Fitzroy Lions from 1896-1966, but with Fitzroy now gone we could take over their old home and make it our own. It's only 4km from the MCG, has plenty of room to develop being in the Edinburgh Gardens precinct (might need to convince to Tennis club to relocate up near the North playground and cricket club to Alfred Crescent Oval). They could refurbished the old Grand Stand to have the locker rooms/showers done up. Build their admin, physio, Gym and meeting rooms. Maybe as well as a little supporter style museum and community hub given there are current squatters in the Grand Stand. They could avoid the need for a pool with Fitzroy Swimming Pool near by and a social club by coming up with some sort of arrangement/sponsorship with Lord Newry Hotel across the road which could become a supporter hang out and meeting area. Finally it means that our AFLW team could play out of Brunswick Street Oval while our alignment with Casey can stay in touch with maybe one training session a week at Casey Fields with the VFL and VFLW sides staying at Casey Fields. That's just me though and instead it looks as though they'll keep trying to get something in the MCG complex.
