  1. After 34 years membership so do I
  2. This is a very thoughtful article, defending his old mate. I do agree that MFC at times seemed to stand for everything but football and I do think the Keystone Cops could have managed better than many of our past administrations.. I am somewhat more dubious about the detrimental effects on the AFL coach's families though. That lies more with the incredibly low standard of sports journalism in Australia, sometimes makes Women's Day look positively profound. My main concern with the patience approach is that I only have one lifetime, at least in this incarnation.
  3. Ah Bliss There will be some caustic emails distributed to those poor misguided creatures who choose to follow Essendon
  4. "The future of the free world is not at stake' Quite right-this is far more important
  5. Unfortunately it was on TV interstate, in all its shameful detail.
  6. While transplants are possible it is hard to get 22 sets of intestines at short notice.
  7. Bad generals always fight wars using the previous war's battle tactics. The Somme, the maginot line and assymetric warfare are good example. So it is with football coaches- the crush, mosquito fleets, pagan's paddock have all been fashionable at some stage.. Perhaps Neeld;s game plan has been overtaken by events.
  8. Yesterday we had all the "talent" Richmond could play football though,
  9. Given the time between drinks I will play Grand old flag in C major on my harp.
  10. I don't feel particularly warm and fuzzy about all this. I never thought sponsors should be paragons of virtue and the bloke that is putting $2 million into the club is a jerk. So are many other sponsors- So is the KG Demetriou going to take Emirates sponsorship away from the wobble people over human rights issues.I wouldn;t think so. Essentially we have givers and takers in footy clubs and those rightuous souls who's hands were forced into sacking the sponsor put are takers. I just want us to play good footy and win a premiership. This aim has been set back a few years today.
  11. to think that after 30 odd years I actually fell for the offseason bs and upgraded my membership. What a gutless patheticplaying effort what an insipid unispired coaching effort So one more year of the same. Never again

    Weak Club

Absolutey there is no free market economics at play here, the AFL manipulate fixtures and venues to allow stronger clubs to obtain an unfair advantage over others/

    Weak Club

Diablo I would never consider intimidation but the little toad will have to play at "boutique" stadiums aka low attendance venues such as Manuka in the ACT where the voice carries accross the arena If the kneeless one plays us I will be their to give full vent to my feelings on his treachery.
  14. I wonder if the hairdresser has got out of gaol yet. I think 20 years is a fair cop for that effort
  15. Today's Hun has a photo gallery featuring the worst hairstyles over the past 20 odd years in the AFL. Melbourne and Hawthorn players seem to predominate- Baker, Biffen Lovell Healey Cattogio etc Diper Eade Another good reason th merger didn't eventuate, imagine the past players gatherings at least until aldness cut in.
  16. I often have need of a few Becks and a good lie down
  17. Do you think you could label your topic as a question rather than a statement it would add some accuracy and save me the trouble of readuing it.
  18. I am not that taken with scarf burning, after all I have a collection dating back a number of years and if we have too many more "efforts" like yesterday they will become valuable sporting memoriabillia. However there is a culture within some areas of the supporter base that accepts mediocrity. This culture arose through the really lean years and is noticible in the MCC members who are are terribly good losers. Sending back scarves and even membership tickets, as opposed to not renewing memberships gives a message to the club and players that losing by huge margins isn't good enough. 47 years is far too long!!

    GAMEDAY

My commiserations to all the true believers out there. I witnessed a similar debacle many years ago, I think it was against Fitzroy -it is gut wrenching. At least these days, I am at a distance far away enough from the club that i don't feel any obligation to attend these gutless fiascos. The sad thing is I really thought they were making some progress and kept the membership up over the years. But I guess my platinum membership card is starting to mean as much to me as an expired credit card.I must say the membership renewal is due shortly-the way I feel it may go the same way as the credit card. As well as a broad ax a written apology to all members would be nice.

    GWS

More importantly, what is the GWS club song to be I suggest Tina Turner's Tramps and theives
  21. There was a cave in in the mine where the seven dwarfs laboured. Snow White hurried to the mine and all that could be heard was a faint rendition of Good Old Collingwood Forever. "Thank Goodness Dopey's Ok", said Snow White.
  22. 100,000 members and one tooth between them
  23. IT might also have something to do with the quality of our training facilities andour medical staff. I seem to recall that one club sent its medicos to visit AC Milano, I think a similar trip may be in order
