Frightening thought. Davey is much more to the club than just a great player. His loss could be devastating. Throw the checkbook at him to get him to stay I'd say. Perhaps arrange for a captaincy after Junior retires.
-
Chill dude. We have only one press release from the club. The rest is speculation. If things go totally pear-shaped I'll agree with you, but they're not there at the moment. McLean is a loss, but we can cover it. We don't have anything else but worst-case scenarios being thrown up in panic. I'll wait until the club tells us something before I worry too much.
-
I can't see Davey leaving, but then I couldn't see Brock leaving either. Davey has had a huge amount going on behind the scenes with his indigenous development efforts. He's doing huge things for the club, and is well and truly entrenched with the surrogate family of indigenous players. Surely that would be enough to keep him with us? I doubt he'd be able to get more money at a good club. We have more room to maneuver than most in that regard.
-
I'd be thrilled if this deal went ahead. It would remove the temptation for our club to make a bid.
-
Why would we want Burgoyne? Great skills, but heading towards too old for our window and has dodgy knees. Let the Hawks have him. Now if we could get Dangerfield or Boak...
-
My Apologies dafatcat. I honestly thought this was another rubbish rumour started by someone desperate for a little online attention. Congrats on the scoop. Please tell me the other player you mentioned isn't Sylvia.
-
Once again assuming that this is all true... It could be that he simply sees the writing on the wall and thinks he will struggle to get games. Many of us have been stumped by the problem of trying to fit all of our midfielders into the side over the next few years. Perhaps he's been doing the same thing and wondering which of our young guys is going to take his spot.
-
Is Healy an official source now? I thought he was a Journo. But seriously, I really hope it's not true. I think Brock still has a lot to offer to the club and will be better for an injury-free preseason.
-
Not the strongest draft, but there are 5 of them playing in the GF this year, and another who has a brownlow to his name. That can't be called a terrible year. Do you believe that this year is better?
-
Out for the season isn't so bad at this point. Isn't it only a few more weeks? Could easily be a sprain, strain or pulled muscle and keep him out. He has no history of injuries that I know of, so I wouldn't hit the big red button just yet.
-
We give a player who went 5th in a pretty good draft for pick 11 in a crap one? Good call. Sounds like something Richmond might do.
-
Did he embarrass himself last weekend? He was great against the dogs. Looks like he handles pressure well. There is no way Dawson will be dropped unless he manages to injure himself during the week (or is caught having a drug-fueled orgy with midget transvestite hookers). As for Hudghton, if his form warrants and there is a need for an extra tall defender (there may well be) then he should play. If not, then he shouldn't. Simple enough.
-
I don't think we can find a trade that would work to get him. The dogs would want one of our KPPs and a pick for him. On top of that there are other clubs who will offer higher picks than we can. In this case having the picks we do is almost a curse. For trading purposes our first pick is 18, and we can be undercut by any other club in the comp.

He was a god in the Sydney game. Beat Goodes hands down.

2009 Player Review - # 7 Brad Miller
RalphiusMaximus replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The poor kicking of Butcher could be his salvation. If the best forward prospect can take a mark but not kick goals we might as well stick with the one we've got. -
I'm inclined to say Port Adelaide. While Richmond is a mess, they at least are taking steps to fix things with a new coach and player culling. At Port they have the same coach who seems to have presided over their descent into farce and rather than delisting their poor players they are having their quality players desert. Added to that is their low membership and financial difficulties. I think the fix will take longer for them than for Richmond.
-
Speaking of Tippett, what do you think it would take to get him?
-
Yes, he is a midfielder. He's big and strong for the middle, but has the speed and agility to dominate in the guts. Did you see him right before the siren last night? He very nearly got the ball out on his own. That effort really sold me on him. He will be a star sooner or later.
-
Maybe pick 2 is a little high, maybe not, but i'd love to have him.
-
If they give the cats a lead like that there's no way they'll pull it back.
-
Not just those two either. We're going to see something special next year at some point.
-
I've got us down for 7-9 wins I think. It depends on who we play twice of course. We should handle Freo, Richmond and the Roos comfortably. We're a chance against WC, Sydney and PA depending on who plays better on the day.
-
Impressive footage. In particular where he gets the hitout, makes a tackle and then wins the clearance in the same passage of play. I'm not sure he'll ever be a first choice ruck simply because he's a few cm too short, but as a forward who rucks on the side i'd love to have him.
-
I can't agree on getting rid of Buckley. He's still a kid and has a heap of potential. Give him at least another year, maybe two to get himself settled and see what he becomes. It's easy to write him off after he hasn't played for a season, but I think he's got a huge upside and can learn to use the ball better. Bate had a similar problem when he first played in the senior team, but now he's turning into a genuine gun for us.

Someone who knows the difference between a noun and an adjective! Are you lost or something? Re Pierce Liddle, do we have any advantage in recruiting him given that he is already associated with our club? Are we able to nominate him as a rookie or something or does he have to go into the ND first?
