    Aaron Davey

Throw Trengove and Scully alongside him in the midfield (where Flash plays best, and immediately the pressure comes of Aaron. Look at how quickly Daniel Kerr's game deteriorated when Judd and Cousins were no longer playing alongside him.
  2. Take Jolly, Pendlebury, Swan and Heath Shaw out of Collingwood's team and they'd be struggling most weeks as well. I can't understand the vitriol being directed at Dean Bailey at the moment, given that he simply does not have anywhere near a decent list to work with. It's worth remembering that last year the media and others were writing off Woosha at the Eagles, after they won the wooden spoon. My how quickly things can change. Let's judge Bails on how the team goes, when he's got a good list to work with.
  3. LJ loves being at the Dees and aint going anywhere. Don't worry about ill informed commentary about the feuds up north potentially dragging him away. The opposite is the case. As to his football, it should be obvious that he's carrying a few niggling injuries at present (like many players), but there's nothing seriously wrong. I would love to see a lot more (and better) forward entries, to at least give him a chance. Even with so few opportunities, he's still kicking 2-3 goals each week. More supply could easily lift this to 4-5 goals each week. If I was him, I'd certainly be very frustrated at the high number of low percentage outside 50 shots on goal from midfielders, who instead should be looking for LJ and other forwards to pass to. He copped some abuse after round one for going for too many speccies, and since then I reckon he's been holding back a little. It might be time let him off the leash, and just tell him to go for it!
  4. I'm sharing the publishing royalties with Liam and the Yuendumu football club.
  5. Yes, on both counts. The publishers and I are currently in discussions with the MFC to help promote the book.
  6. As many of you on Demonland will know, I have had a long association with Liam Jurrah, his family and the wider community of Yuendumu, going back to 2002. Anyway, after being pestered by many people, I finally decided to write a book about Liam's journey from a teenage desert footballer to an emerging AFL star. The book, 'The Liam Jurrah Story: From Yuendumu to the MCG' will be published by Melbourne University Publishing and released on 1 August. I know Liam is much loved by most Dees supporters, so you should all find it a fascinating and enjoyable read, enabling you to learn a little about Warlpiri culture along the way. you will also get some insight into the enormous hurdles and obstacles Liam has had to overcome to get to where he is today. It also explains - for the first time - the full story of how and why Liam got drafted by the Dees and why Collingwood missed out!
  7. Let's not forget it was Barry Prendergast who went out on a limb and drafted Liam Jurrah, when other club's put him in the 'too hard' basket.
  8. I understand everyone's criticisms of Bailey, but the fact is the team lacks a structure because of the lack of quality big men in the team. It's no wonder the team struggles to get it out of defence when there are few big marking targets to kick to. Imho, the problem is the list not the coach.
  9. I'm not sure how many people are aware, but Liam Jurrah has kicked 50 goals in his first 20 games. He is only the second player in the past decade to do this (last player was the Eagles, Troy Wilson). So in case anyone doubts Liam's credibility as a genuine star, it's worth noting he's kicked more goals in his first 20 games than was kicked by Buddy Franklin, Johnathon Brown, Anthony Rocca or Brendan Fevola. Only 25 other players in the 150 plus years of the VFA/VFL/AFL have equalled Liam's achievement - the Dees' Alan Jakovich was one of them.
  10. Liam is up there right now. He is safe. It is a very tragic situation which has erupted there, but Liam has shown incredible courage and strength of character in trying to calm everybody down.
  11. Liam should have had 6 goals today, if that stupid umpire had paid advantage as he should have.
  12. I reckon the Dees would have had a few more wins this year if Liam had not missed 14 games after shoulder surgery. At the very least, he'd have delivered 2 wins against the Pies.
  13. Liam has taken a while to recover the confidence in his shoulder, following his major surgery earlier in the year. He's been dying to take a screamer like this one for a few weeks now and if he has a good pre-season, get ready for something special in 2011 as you ain't seen nothing yet.
  14. Don't worry guys, the Jurrah train is raring to go again. It promises to be an exciting second half of the season. Can't wait to see LJ, Aussie, Flash, Jamie and Neville play in a game together for the first time.
  15. Nothing to add to the earlier reports. Liam is recovering well and expected back for the second half of the season. I am very [censored] off that I won't be able to see him take on the Pies this week, but will most likely have to wait to see that next year.

  17. For the record, I only post stuff re Liam to correct misinformation. I think a check of my posts will show I'm informed on matters pertaining to LJ.
  18. Mate, I only post stuff about Liam occasionally to correct misinformation. For the record, there's no guess work made by me - I took LJ to the hospital and picked him up this morning. He's now recuperating, living with my family.

  19. Just got back from visiting him at the hospital. He's very determined to come back fit and strong later in the year. For those interested, the amputation went well, but he's going to have to work more on his left side from here on.
  20. Read my other post in "Rudeboy if you're out there".
  21. It's up to the club to inform the public about such matters, and because Liam is my mate, I am also aware that I have a responsibility to respect his privacy, especially concerning his health. However, I think I should set a couple of things straight before panic sets in. Firstly, he and Bell will both be having some work done on their shoulders tomorrow. Secondly, while he'll be out of action for a while, he will definitely be back playing mid season, so talk of his demise is definitely premature. Believe me, he'll be back stronger and hungrier than ever.
  22. Channel 9 are tossers. I spoke to Liam, and it's a dislocated shoulder.

    Liam Jurrah

He played a shocker for sure, but I wouldn't stress over it. He was actually quite Jet lagged and had hardly had any sleep the night before the game. I also wouldn't take too much notice of Liam's pre-season form at all - he's a big occasion player. Believe me, you ain't seen nothin' yet.
