Too right! The MFC are right behind it and the book features a fabulous long interview with Jimmy Stynes.
-
They are great mates around the club and developed a special bond on the trip to China last year. There's a great photo of the two of them in my forthcoming book,'The Liam Jurrah Story: From Yuendumu to the MCG' coming out on Victory books (Melb Uni Press)on 1 August.

He's certainly missing Aussie and looking forward to having Flash back in.

19 disposals, 2 goals 4 points, 3 goal assists and 4 tackles. Not bad for a 'floating forward flanker'. He was a bit crook last week, so it was great to see him up and about this week. He's obviously been encouraged to rely more on his ground work skills and less on his aerial ability, which means he's probably going to be less spectacular. However, with Watts, Howe, Green and Jamar/Martin as marking options, it's probably inevitable that he's being used more as a crumber. He's only played 30 games, so is still learning. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the best is yet to come.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

He was actually a bit crook last week, but is fine now and raring to go. He's looking forward to playing alongside Jamar. I told him to tell the Russian to keep out of his way..ha, ha

You're probably right. I guess it says more about an old dinosaur like me. I'm more twit than twitter!
-
Ideally I'd like Jamar in the goal square with Liam alongside him in the forward pocket. At present it's pretty clear that Liam is taking some time to adjust to a new role further up the ground. He's got all the attributes to succeed in this new role, but he's definitely on a learning curve. I just hope that the evolving structures of the modern game do not take great leaping for marks out of the game. This would be a shame, as we all know just how damaging Liam can be in the air, especially if the ball is kicked down forward quickly enough.
-
Don't disagree with any of that. I just reckon he's better off starting much closer to goals where he plays instinctive football.
-
Because of my association with Liam I won't pretend to be objective. Obviously he had a poor game today and has been relatively quiet for a few weeks. However, maybe the coaches should think about playing him closer to goal, where he mainly played up until this year. It was his instinctive play near goals and high marking which set the football world on fire, leading him to kick the fastest first 50 goals (in 20 games) in a decade. Now he seems to be positioned further up the ground as a flanker - in no mans land. I agree with several of the comments about him - he seems a bit lost, not knowing what his role is and is not working hard enough for this position. Maybe dropping him will do the trick, but then again, maybe he needs to be played out of the goal square and told to just play his natural game and go for it. I heard Leigh Mathews recently describe LJ as a natural full forward. Maybe he should be given the opportunity to play as one.
-
Glad he's not twittering. He's a smart bloke doing a good job, and maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to take anyone seriously who wastes their time on twitter.
-
Liam Jurrah owes Collingwood big time after they gave up on him back in 2008. Monday will be the first time LJ has had a chance to play against the Pies. My dream is for him to kick a 70 metre goal to win the game after the siren.
-
Believe me this young bloke is a natural leader and top quality individual.
-
The club knows that there's no point trying to force him to stay or come back early, while he's in a stressed state and still grieving. When he's feeling strong again he'll return better than ever. I think the MFC should be congratulated for the way they've handled this situation, and hopefully he'll come back soon.
-
Dick's been stiff not to get a game in recent weeks.
-
With Jamar spending more time in the goal square when he returns and Watts beginning to find form as a key forward, Liam Jurrah will be unstoppable. He's already kicking 3 goals each week in a poor forward structure. Throw in Jamar and i reckon Liam will get another 2 goals each week.
-
Last year the Dees drew and lost by a point in their two games with the eventual Premiers. Liam Jurrah did not play in either game. Surely it's time to let him off the leash and let him go for his marks and he could help get the Dees across the line on monday.
-
Well said. Liam was crucified by all and sundry earlier in the season for going for too many speccies, and since then I reckon he's become a bit tentative in marking contests. For what it's worth, I reckon he needs to be encouraged to play his natural game which is so incredibly instinctive. Time to let him off the leash. While he's kicking his 3 goals each week, he also is a goal assist player and is viewed by many inside the club as the most unselfish player in the team. He would have had 4 goals against the bummers had he not passed the ball to Neville Jetta. I thought he tackled really well on friday night and was unlucky not to get a couple of free kicks. It could easily have been a 5 goal night for Liam. Sure, he needs to keep working harder each week, but I can't wait to see how he goes when he's got Jamar along side him in the goal square.

Mr Whirlpool is an expert at spin.

The MFC should be congratulated for its understanding of Aussie's need for a break to clear his head and go through some necessary grieving with his family back in the Tiwi. There is every chance that he'll come back better than ever. Good luck Aussie and well done Demons.
-
Liam has kicked the fastest first 50 goals for a decade in the entire AFL, so I wouldn't be worried about how he's traveling. A bit better delivery tonight and he'll add a bag of 6 goals to his tally. Not bad for a kid with less than 30 games under his belt.
-
Dees will smash the Blues tomorrow night and Liam will kick 6 goals.
-
He'll kick a bag tomorrow night.
-
Couldn't agree more mate.

Knowing my luck it would be Dougie Hawkins sister!
