I really like this from The Age Schwab talks about 4 key questions posed in the interviews. One in particular catches my attention. "The final one is how he is going to lead, how he is going to set standards, how he is going to drive performance, almost the pure leadership element of it." It gives me great confidence if ticks all those boxes.

I was thinking the same thing Darkhorse. With all his talk of the team being hard and him being direct, I hope that means he'll be imposing hardness as a standard within the team. I guess this really means a cultural change, which isn't easy to impliment, but ultimately rewarding. There needs to be an expectation of hardness, and it needs to be reinforced. And once it gets to a cultural level, the players will find that they also are reinforcing these standards on one another. A new game plan will take some time. A new intent should be evident almosts straight away.

Crickey. He was still under contract with the Pies. Will Eddie sue?

Ha. We're Dees supporters. It goes without saying!

The announcement was by far much better than our last coashing appointment. Mark Williams announced Bailey as the new Melbourne coach at a Port press conference. From memory Port ended up getting thrashed by Geelong in the GF. I wonder if that is a bad omen for Collingwood!

With the recent recruiting of GWS and the ridiculous money being thrown around, I'm sure the general public will think that they're being greedy. They're being greedy.

I'm sure I heard/read somewhere that the Saints had recently recruited someone from the Hawks, without the knowledge of Lyon, and gave him a role with more authority than Lyon. It was Chris Pelchen.Article Here

I think that's what happened with Fevola at the start of the season. Did his own deal with Casey. But then again he's probably not a good example.

I'll be very interested to hear the Coaches Association response. One coach basically shafting another in a very underhanded way. Not that they can do anything about it, but will be interested nonetheless.
-
It's a serious issue, But I couldn't help but laugh. Nice work.

Gold.

I was thinking that it was a bit underhanded by Fremantle to be making offers to other coaches. But maybe not! Pretty crazy stuff.

I hope Collingwood lose the prelim too. But finding out a week earlier would just be a bonus!

I guess it depends on how many more the sign. The more they sign the less room they'll have for the genuine star. Frontloading is fine to a certain extent, but with the size of their contracts it's still a fair chunk of their salary cap over the coming years for just a few players. Once their 2 year window is up for signing players from other teams, they then have to sign up their own players. How much room will be left for them?
-
And on top of that Collingwood weren't exactly hard done by GC, Fraser was on the outer and looked like moving on anyway. Although it remains to be seen if GWS snare anyone from the Pies (The way they're going they won't have any money left for a genuine star).

Couldn't agree more.

Juice is on the rookie list, so I don;t think he counts. But I'd be very surprised if he was still on our list next year.

I think if anything the last few years has shown that there's some great coaching talent out there. They just need to be given a chance. Could anyone have done a better job than Scott at Geelong this year?
-
I think Gold Coast were also very lucky that the Brisbane team was in the middle of a rebuild and snuck in a win over them. The way the Swans are situated I can't see GWS getting a win over them for many many years. How are the GWS supporters going to take that?

Poor ol' Jurrah is copping a Trenners uppercut. MRP?

The compensation that Geelong got for Ablett was inadequate at best. Particularly considering what West Coast got for Judd, a comparable pleayer, a few years earlier. I just can't see the AFL comprimising themselves by offering much more than the Ablett compensation.

Morton, Martin re-signed; Green soon to happen
Jack Jack replied to Striker475's topic in Melbourne Demons
According to the MFC twitter it's a 2 year extension for both (contracted til 2013). -
Speaking of hints, I like the way Schwab hinted that GWS where fools. Mentioned that the rules were put into place so that the new clubs could get some hard/seasoned bodies into the team and not just have a bunch of kids running around. Then pointed towards GWS' signings, a bunch of kids.

Has any of the compensation been announced yet? ie for Adelaide, Doggies and Dockers?

Was that Youtube video uploaded yesterday?
