Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]
sue replied to Dr evil's topic in Melbourne Demons
Since none of the solutions offered so far to GNF's riddle make any sense, all will be clear when GNF reveals his own solution. If it is as weak as those offered to date, then we will know he is merely a floating piece of wood or a duck out for a cheap laugh. On the other hand...... -
Good to see some posters trying to hijack a riddle thread with trade issues. Only fair.

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
sue replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm not blaming anyone - as I said we don't know what really happened. It could be he was pushed too hard compared to where he was up to, or he pushed himself too hard, or it was about to happen regardless or that Richmond simply did a scan which revealed the problem without doing anything physical. Let's just hope he does finally recover and is part of our future success. -

As usual we know little, but it is not unreasonable to speculate that Richmond could have overdone things in a fitness test. It was stated that JT was in recovery, not yet 100%, so if he was pushed beyond his planned recovery curve it could have caused a re-injury which may not have happened if it was managed as planned. On the other hand, it may have happened anyway. Either way you have to feel for the bloke. -

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
sue replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
That struck me at the time (just after the court case) as indicating the players were in a very thick bubble. But now I find it absolutely incredible that they could be so insulated from the real world that I don't know what to think. -

I seriously doubt if any of this is to 'get members used to the situation'. It is either to send a message to other clubs or to deal with information that has become public. -

Yes, but if Richmond had heard that we needed 12 for some big deal, they might make the first move. -

As I posted a bit earlier, even if the drugs are in fact safe, all it will take for one unusual disease to hit a player or their child in the next 20 years and fingers will be pointing regardless. -

Absolutely. But even if the injections turn out to be 'safe', Essendon will always fear some mysterious health problem arises which people will attribute to the supplements program even though the problem was caused by some other unknown thing. This will be especially true if they don't fess up to what was injected. Sooner or later someone associated with that club will think of the long-term interests of the club rather than their own backsides and sort this. (I've given up them thinking of the players' interests a while back.) -

Does this take the record for criticising a player early in his MFC career? -

Excuse my ignorance, but why was Carlton happy to lose him for very little? -
Ash - if your club hadn't wasted the last x months with that stupid court case, maybe it would have been.

While Essendon coach James Hird, in a club video message, is labelling Ryder as a “required player”.... For the good of the game, when is Essendon going to label Hird as not a required coach? -
Just when you think the AFL can sink no lower.....

A question I hope PJ is asking the AFL. -

A bloke I know is a rabid Essendon supporter - his son used to play with Hird at Ainslie in Canberra. He told me tonight that he has given the game away because of the drugs and in particular Hird's behaviour. Then again I know a better class of supporter.... -
I see no Demon is in the International Rules team just announced, so no danger of injuries. Unless......... Australian squad: Grant Birchall, Travis Boak, Luke Breust, Patrick Dangerfield, Dustin Fletcher, Nat Fyfe, Brendon Goddard, Robbie Gray, Brent Harvey, Luke Hodge, Kieren Jack, Steve Johnson, Jarrad McVeigh, Sam Mitchell, Leigh Montagna, Nic Naitanui, Nick Riewoldt, Tom Rockliff, Joel Selwood, Brodie Smith, Nick Smith, Harry Taylor, Jobe Watson, Chad Wingard.

No. I can't take any more of this. Bream me up.

How can supporters boo the AFL? Maybe booing players involved in FA etc is the only way to express displeasure with the system? But 2 things wrong there - first, the player may not deserve it, second the AFL will interpret any emotion by the crowd to be a good thing regardless.

I presume (or hope) it is only the lunatic fringe who believe that. -
Is it draft tampering for club A to make an over-the-top offer which they intend to withdraw if the player surprisingly says yes? If not, I can imagine deals being done between mates at different clubs to push up a departing player's value in return for something else in the draft. (Not saying it was in this case of course, just wondering)
