  1. Who knows. Maybe he'd have given up footy. Since most of us have no idea of what his family cirumstances are, these questions make little sense except add fuel to the fire. It's pretty clear Jaded knows what's what and it quite rightly keeping stum about matter that we don't need to know (though maybe some want to know). I'll accept what she says.
  2. They obviously don't care. If they wanted to even bother with an appearance of justice, they'd ensure no one involved in any way with one of the clubs involved in the case was on the Tribunal. One day a cashed up player may take them to court, denial of natural justice or somesuch. I hope so.
  3. Must have been hard for the club to concentrate on this case given #5
  4. Interesting that the commentators who made such a fuss about the free kick count when it favoured st Kilda said nothing when it was almost even at the end. Even BTโ€™s arithmetic skills would show there must have been a similar โ€˜biasโ€™ to make it even at the end
  5. When can we expect to know if the Club is going to appeal or not?
  6. Didn't the AFL say a few years back that to discourage head high contacts they would award frees against players for ducking. But they did not follow through - all they have done is (sometimes) not award a free against the opponent for head high contact.
  7. Should get off, but won't. Sadly. Meanwhile Maynard who deliberately clobbered a player who will never play again as a result and had zero penalty, had the audacity to take issue with Kozzie. Makes me sick.
  8. I agree he is not going to be personally influenced, but part of the negotiations will be his salary at MFC. The less keen he is to "sell" himself to us, the greater the salary he might want to overcome his reluctance. No? I assume in the above that he can back out and stay with Port after he says he wants a trade to MFC? If not, I'm wrong and he is in a weak position.
  9. But maybe that was just 'rumoured' to help with negotiations and forcing us to pay more for a supposedly reluctant player.
  10. yeah, I get that point. The point I was making, perhaps obscurely, is that that is no reason to discount what Lyon said as meaningless. Of course, we won't know till we know, but I'd much prefer Lyon to say what he said than echo Morris et al.
  11. umm, you might have cared more if Lyon had made a 'rational critique' on why both of them were leaving. What I mean is that you have to give some weight to him making comments which pleases Demonland.
  12. What was that post about?
  13. I agree that if bumping (footy act with due care, not thuggery) is allowed then it is unfair that the punishment should depend on the outcome (though if you look at the law generally, this is common). The resolution of this will be the total ban on bumping. That will make gentle shepherding another realm for the umpires and MRO to be confused about.
  14. or he might have medical appointments. Too much reading of tea leaves on here.
  15. I'm amazed that anyone could infer that from the question he was asked (Going?) and his immediate reply (Nah!) followed by the 'sort this out at end of year' type remark. If that wasn't him realising that you have to keep balls in the air during contract talks I'm the proverbial monkey's uncle. Of course, pessimists will say it's a double bluff to fool fan boys like me....
  16. Are you joking? Initial response was an enthusiastic YEAH. Followed by a vague remark that read to me as โ€œholy [censored]. My manager will be [censored] off my saying that in contract talksโ€. Sorry, I got that the wrong way around. He was asked "you're not going anywhere?" and replied Nah enthusiastically. Some people seem deermined to read the worst into everything.
  17. Geez, cut him a bit of slack. He doesn't get pinged that often for throws and other players are equally 'quick', some get pinged more than others. Yes, he gets paid a lot, but so what. A lot of the defense of Clarry has been justified and objective - you don't have a monopoly. Sure there are some posters who are what you call apologists. And then there are some who are the reverse - always keen to see that dark side and put the boot in. Doesn't make you balanced or right. The suggestion that part of the reason for 1 flag in 60 years is because of sycophantic supporters is laughable. When are we storming the club HQ? Should I send the President the ashes of my microwaved membership card? You like to show how tough and uncomprimising you are - as if that has any effect on what the club does any more than those who wear rose-coloured glasses do. At least the latter group are happy.
  18. And you are across all the medical issues? No plate needed for 14 weeks in your medical bag?
  19. It does if despite all he drawbacks he is doing as well as the average player. Have you watched a Casey match this year?
  20. Why are some here so confident that the leak was from some MFC ne'er-do-well? Where is the evidence? (beyond some people always thinking the worst of the club)? Could have come from anywhere between Melbourne and South Australia.
  21. 1. We had no one better and until last week were still in with a chance of finals 2. Some say for his mental health. They may be right.
  22. A liability? Only compared with his former top form. Who did we have to replace him? Mothballed weeks ago when we still had a chance at finals? Most you can say he should have gone last weekend.
  23. or is someone leaking at the other end in SA?
  24. Maybe discussions about deals haven been going on positively already, so the appearance of acting like a 'free agent' is a mirage. Edit: I see a number of posters have made this point earlier.
  25. I agree with most of the above. Another positive - so far no one has hi-jacked the thread into yet another woe-is-us thread.
