Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
Demon Disciple replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawn does not run into the ground, the ground runs into Gawn -
Wasn’t old enough to remember, but as my dad keeps telling it, the wins against the Hawks 2 weeks in a row back in 1990 (which was simply unheard of at the time) the first being the last home and away game, the next in the opening round of the finals, must’ve felt pretty special. further to that the extra week off after the eagles drew their final and had to replay it the following week...........how did we not win the flag in 1990 FFS. But alas this is the most heartwarming thread

GAME DAY - AFLX Scratchings Match
Demon Disciple replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yep, been hanging out for it all week................talking about “Mike and Dave need wedding dates” aren’t you WJ? -
Reading through some of our most heartbreaking losses really got me down with reliving the memories. So stuff that, let's hear some of our greatest wins. For me there are a number of memorable wins. 2000 QF against the Blues, 2000 PF smashing the Roos and knowing we're heading into a granny, 2006 EF, obviously the Weagles win and then subsequent GWS demolition where we could celebrate making the finals for the first time in 12 years among fellow Demon tragics, last years EF & SF. But the one that takes the cake for me has to be our first win in 2008 after being down by 50+ points at half time and 30+ points at 3/4 time against the Dockers. There were few supporters there that day, but wow we made some noise (when James McDonald kicked a long kick forward out of the centre to bronx cheers was memorable that day too).

Jake Melksham extends for three more years

on his non-preferred as well -
It was an absolute sea of red and blue that night. Long may it continue.

Hawks won the flag in 2008. VandenBerg was captain for 3 years until he retired at the end of 2007.

A great night indeed SWYL. A crowd of 90,000 with at least 60,000 Dees fans in attendance.
-
Would've been a hoot seeing them try and spell Wonaeamirri!
-
If NB can get the deep Red & Blue right in this jumper (also love the narrower V), why can't they with our current home guernsey? Far too matte red and blue for my liking
-
I agree in that they are starting a generation behind where they want and will eventually get to with time. I suppose it's a case of 'if you build it, they will come'.

I am very pro AFLW, but if it wasn't already clear enough in previous years, the pace to bring more teams into the league has resulted in an even lower overall quality in the games being played. The depth of talent is still lacking for it to be deemed a quality befitting national levels. I do like that a lot of games are relatively close which keeps it interesting, but on a national platform, some of the skill (a greater percentage of it) is simply sub-standard. Until such time that the quality of the AFLW significantly improves, it would greatly benefit from demand being far greater than supply. The AFLW's expansion has come way too soon imo. Then again, we were an absolute basket-case not that long ago..........................people in glass houses..............

And with that, i'm tipping Trac to have a 50.30 goal season! -
New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Demon Disciple replied to Viney+Brayshaw+Hogan=Flag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have it on good authority, that should we be this year's premiers, they will change their name to FLAGUAR until the end of 2019! -
pfft, just get that cr@p off the jumper all together! p.s. maybe replace it with another major sponsor!!!

New Major Sponsor - Jaguar CONFIRMED
Demon Disciple replied to Viney+Brayshaw+Hogan=Flag's topic in Melbourne Demons
That makes 2 sponsorships out from 2018 and 1 in for 2019. We still seem to have a revolving door when it comes to sponsors. It would be nice to not have to worry about signing sponsors at the culmination of every year. As for the $1m+ sponsorship, would that not mean that we lost $1m+ due to infiniti no longer sponsoring us? -
And what a pity that is. All it does is provide an unnecessary opportunity to get injured

Would that be Monday 11th February, or a Monday TBD? -
Matthew Kreuzer sits comfortably with Watts on level of output achieved in careers thus far (and that's sfa). Kreuzer has an excuse though, he's been injured for a majority of them, but he is not a great warhorse, more like a broken down horse (if he is a great warhorse, then that makes me Phar Lap). But to say that Watt's is so far behind the likes of Kreuzer, Swallow, Patton and even Boyd (he played his best footy on the biggest stage, but he did sfa before or since) is a little far-fetched. And let's not forget Paddy McCartin, who has probably done less at the same stage of his career, nor has Weitering been any decent yet either. Malcolm is just continuing to be Malcolm.............clueless. p.s. i have never been a huge Watts' fan and think Goody was right in trading him out, but the cr@p that Blight has dribbled represents the knowledge of an imbecile
-
Agree SWYL. Goody's no Neeld, but let's not beat around the bush. With a team like ours at his disposal, we simply must be making finals every year, and more often than not going deep (hopefully as deep as you can go). If Goody is what most of us hope he is, he'll not only see making September as a non-negotiable, but challenging for the flag. Look at what Clarkson did with the Dorks this year (admittedly they went out in straight sets), but he got a team into the top 4 who, imo, aren't a top 4 team. Chris Scott on the other hand was gifted a premiership with the team he inherited yet look how they are traveling now. I'm not saying Goodwin is as good as Clarkson, but i hope he is way more Clarkson than he is Scott.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

I say we ask our better to do members to cough up the money. Last i checked, Eddie McGuire is a member of the MFC (as he is with all Victorian clubs). I say we ask him to foot the bill! -

After being on the wait list for approx 13 years, it only took 2 attendances in the MCC to realise that it was too upper class for my liking. I much prefer slumming it with the rest of my riff-raff brethren in the southern stand.
