  1. Travis Johnstone’s son is named Tigga? That is excellent. Next you’ll be telling me David Schwarz has named his son Ox.
  2. I dunno - do guys who are pre-peak with (say) 500k on the table ever really go ā€œpff, I’m worth 550-600 easy, I’m outta hereā€? Young players leave if they’re pissed off or get a massively better offer. The club rates Weideman, so I can’t see any realistic scenario where he doesn’t sign on.

His career tally against us is 19.9, with the best scores being 5.1 and 4.2, both in 2016, and another 4.2 in 2018. I looked all this up with the expectation of proving you wrong, but it seems you’re right. His goals per game against any club is highest against us, and he’s kicked 4 or more goals in 3 of the 7 times he’s played us in his career, and has never not kicked one against us. Damn. I disagree about his overall accuracy in front of goals though. His career tally is 131.71 including 44.18 is 2016 and 38.14 in 2017. He had a run last year where he kicked 6.15 including one game of 1.5, but across his career this is an outlier. He’s usually a pretty reliable shot on goal.
  4. I was thinking the same thing re: Salem this afternoon. Definitely just quietly going about his business. He doesn’t have any flash tricks in his book that get players noticed, but he plays a tough brand, gets plenty of it and rarely wastes a kick. He’s had a really pleasing start to the season.
  5. To be monitored through the week according to MFC website.
  6. So he’s Sam Frost?
  7. 0 instances of spelling his name correctly in this thread so far. Edit: sorry 1 - apologies to DeeSpencer
  8. Why would our captains need a rest 4 games in to the season?

Doesn’t matter how fast they are if we’re in control of the ball. We can beat them. Not saying we will, just that we can.
  10. I’d hold fire on Garlett. It’s great that he had a big game for Casey. Spargo is already likely to make way for Lewis or Jetta; I’m happy enough with how the other players went not to feel the need to change it. If he keeps playing like that in the VFL his time will come, it’s just not yet.
  11. I think you’re right. I reckon Healys go below Tom and Oscar too. Oscar’s played 65 games, the majority of which would have been with Tom. Anthony and James McDonald debuted in the same year and were both regulars in the side from then on, but Anthony only played 100 games.
  12. Jetta was injured, hence the form. Surely it’s beyond question that a non-injured Jetta plays seniors. I can’t see any sensible scenario where Jetta plays at Casey.
  13. We’ve had a lot of brother pairs over the years, Healy, Stynes, Viney, Cockatoo-Collins, McDonald (A and J) just off the top of my head. I’d love to know how many games each set played together. I’m guessing the order will be something like: Febey Healy McDonald A&J McDonald T&O Viney Flower Stynes Cockatoo-Collins Wagner @Supermercado? The Wagners will almost certainly pass the Cockatoo-Collins score of 1 game together and equal the Stynes score of 2 next week.
  14. More likely explanation is that it was just a rubbish post.
  15. So I have to confess, until yesterday I’d been sooking so hard about our crap start to the year that I had hardly paid any attention at all to the other games. I took a look at the ladder today and with a few exceptions, like Carlton being where they belong, it appears to be upside down. Brisbane 3-0, what the...? Freo 2-1? And a great deal of last year’s 8 have had slow starts. Going to be really interesting to see if by round 10, the early form has continued.
  16. I like the sound of the game. Just feels weird watching it in silence. If you could have the sound of the crowd, and the footy hitting the boots, and bodies hitting each other, and the players calling out to each other, without these imbeciles yabbering over the top of it, that would be perfect for me. Watching the TV with the radio on doesn’t work for me. They’re always out of sync and it drives me spare.
  17. I have to wait until Monday?! This playing on a Thursday thing sucks! At least I know it’s coming through.
  18. Do we no longer get an ā€œall the goalsā€ compilation, brought to us by Haymes Paint? I will be sad if that’s no longer a thing, I loved looking out for it the day after a win. I don’t even mind if someone other than Haymes Paint brings it to us.
  19. One of the things I like about the likes of Davis and Matthew Pavlich is that as well as being insightful, they are softly spoken. That means even if their message starts getting boring, you can just mentally tune them out. No such luck with Cameron Ling shouting his inane comments in to the mic.
  20. I’d say get rid of him and replace him with someone fresh, but I’m afraid ā€œsomeone freshā€ would be another moronic oaf, fresh out of the boys club, with no experience or even a basic grasp of the English language. That seems to be the hiring criteria for both the major broadcasters. I reckon our sport has a big problem with the quality of its commentators.
  21. To be honest I prefer Roaming Brian, where he is intentionally being a tool for a bit of light hearted entertainment, to Commentary Brian, where his toolery interferes with the actual call.
  22. Steve, I know I should know better than to start an argument I don’t really have the energy to finish, but since you decided to make another site-wide snipe, I will anyway. You see yourself as a realist amongst dreamers, however to many you present yourself as rigid and stubborn. Everything you see confirms you own view, and you just toss out/disregard anything that might not. You’d be one of the best posters on Demonland if you opened your mind a bit and tried viewing the world through the lense of others, rather than assuming everyone else is stupid. It’s a handy skill in life in general in actual fact.
  23. I believe what he actually said was that Melbourne have discovered ā€œhow hard they have to re-workā€. It’s probably a good point but gee, he really is a dribbling oaf.
