  1. Yep Sleeve. I remember as a kid as a mad North Hobart supporter, quite a few beltings at the hands of Goodwin's Devonport side. I had no idea he had played for the Dees until fairly recently. Popular opinion around these parts (land/ology) was that he was a thug with no skill. From watching him in the TFL when I was young, that's not how I remember him at all. He was the player you had to stop if you wanted your side to win.
  2. It's not that people like the current arrangement Haydo. It's just that people have the common sense to recognise that as long as we're affiliated with Sandy then that's just the way it is, and all the pissing and moaning and whinging in the world won't change that. Unfortunately Sandy aren't Box Hill. We can't swallow them whole. North Melbourne tried that on with Port Melbourne and got told to jump in no uncertain terms. Now nobody wants to align themselves with North. I don't want to be in that position, as we can't afford to go it alone in the VFL. I think the Sandy alignment is counter-productive in many ways Haydo, so I'm anxiously awaiting your better proposal.
  3. Ferguson is playing in the SANFL for West Adelaide with Browny and Neaves. Lamb is listed with Sandy again and AFAIK Sautner is too.
  4. I'd love to know what his excuse was, given that the game was in the middle of the day. Slept in? This guy is a real pea-brain. Hurry up and get ready, Frawley.
  5. The not turning up for training may have been a hint. It's not unreasonable to assume he probably just admitted to missing the curfew when quizzed about why he didn't turn up for recovery. In his situation I definitely would've just fessed up, just to try and minimise the fallout (and my mummy always told me to tell the truth).
  6. Because at the moment we don't have rental space in New York, we have rental space in East Timor. Sure it's close to home, but why the hell would you want to go there?
  7. Now that your grandstanding is finished I think we can close this thread.
  8. He threw that name in there just to prove that he was talking from his a-hole.
  9. I'm sure if the FD had any problem with it whatsoever, he wouldn't be on there. I dare say they'd have a little bit more of a clue as to the impact it would have on his footy than the average Demonland mug. Massive storm in a teacup.
  10. Yes, but definitely not a CEO.
  11. The AFL do not get to choose who we appoint as their CEO, they have absolutely no say whatsoever and nor did they when we appointed Harris. The best they might be able to squeeze in a board member, but they haven't done that to date either.
  12. I would be very, very happy with any of those three based on their experiences as sporting chiefs. Exciting times.
  13. Bruce, Spencer, Morton and Grimes the only players not named for either Sandringham or Melbourne. I don't think I've ever seen such a long injury list vanish so quickly. Great stuff.
  14. That is Paul Johnson. He looks a bit like Robbo in that pic though. These are pretty awful photos. Surely they could do much better. I'm still chuckling at that Frawley photo though.
  15. That is quite possibly the worst photo of anyone I have ever seen, not just Chip. Ouch. I'm in the same boat as you MFC4Life!
  16. If he is the best CEO available, and if he is as impressive as we're being lead to believe, then in my opinion the club can't afford to worry about things like that. Even if he is only in the job for 6 months, if he's such a good CEO then that's better than never having had him. The club needs to appoint the person who is the most capable of delivering what this club needs, and in our case, the short term is every bit as vital as the long term. Edit: TheShaft beat me to the punch
  17. I agree with that. I'm itching to know who the other candidates are, but it seems like MFC has the lid tightly closed on this one (and rightly so).
  18. But that doesn't explain why we as supporters have seem to come to expect him to be ready. He is still only 21.
  19. How many 21 year old blokes are? I reckon it's ridiculous that we've demanded he be captain material already in the first place.
  20. Even if he did lose his licence it's still a beatup I reckon. He didn't do anything I haven't done before.
  21. Yesss!!! Collingwood's sloppy seconds! Beaut!
  22. Cheers Tony. There's been a million different things that we've wanted to do over time, such as re-integrate the forums with the main site, to ease the publishing of articles etc. The real issue with the things we have wanted to do has been more time than cash flow related, I find it especially hard to juggle a young family, work and other commitments. Of course we could hire someone else to do this stuff, but then the costs blow out exponentially and I doubt any amount of tin rattling would raise the cash. We actually paid for a "forever" licence for the forum software which gives us all the features you see. It was pretty good value IMO, especially given how much the old Aimoo forum a> sucked and b> cost. Tim_ over at Demonology went for his own home brew forum solution, which costs him nothing financially but heaps in time required for development and maintenance. We took the view that shelling out a few hundred bucks was probably the better option for the sake of our sanity!
  23. It costs me less than what you pay. I didn't actually know you were still paying for hosting. We can probably come to some arrangement for that at some point in the future if you want, let me know.
  24. Assuming all our ruckmen stay fit, there's going to be two of Paul Johson, Jamar and Meesen at Sandy at any given time, plus whatever ruck stocks Sandy have (if any?). Martin rucked this weekend out of necessity. I'll be very surprised if he's required to do it at all during the year.
  25. I think Rhino's point was that he could have 15 seasons and you and I still would not know whether he has what it takes, because we don't know what the criteria are and we don't get to watch him operate. And I reckon he's right.
