  1. With the exception of Davey, I reckon all of those would be completely legitimate list management reasons anyway, even if you ignore the horrid T word. When you're not in the hunt for finals there is absolutely no point in giving players any less than the maximum amount of rest possible, especially the chronically injured such as McLean, Moloney and Grimes.
  2. Why? I'm not saying I agree with the above statement, it was just one that has been mentioned to me. I voted 'no'.

Someone with a Twitter account ask him how he and the players feel about absolutely busting a gut to win, knowing that your own match committee are putting every possible road block in the way.
  4. I'm very much in the pro-tank camp, deefender, and I agree with everything you've just said. However I had someone mention a contrary opinion recently and was wondering how others felt about it.
  5. Wondering what people's thoughts are with this. If we have success in the future on the back of our prize for chucking games (Scully), do you think it will take some of the edge off it, knowing that the club manipulated the system?
  6. In all fairness, he probably has been working on it for years. And I don't think his kicking is that bad.
  7. Actually I alluded to it on page 1. But you're right, it's probably just being pedantic.
  8. Asking for respect in our position is pretty rich I reckon. Footy media love the sink the boots in to clubs while they're down. Hands up who didn't get some enjoyment seeing Carlton dwelling in the cellar for consecutive years? My hand is down. Agree with that. Never had this feeling before, I'm hoping it doesn't tarnish the good times when they come, because I fear it's permanently changed my outlook on footy.
  9. Just on Bail, this from Tilly18 on Demonology: That would explain his selection in the twos this week, it was probably just an arrangement with the club(s). Although what I said earlier in the thread was relatively harmless, I feel like a bit of a knob right now.
  10. I agree Jack. The question in the title and the question in the poll are different questions IMO.
  11. I know Y_M is something of an enigma, but I just can not understand how you can be pro-tank, but anti-Sylvia-for-Casey at the same time. If Sylvia plays for MFC this week, we risk winning, it's as simple as that.
  12. Because he needs further discipline after his silly act He needs to prove that he has earned his spot in the side Moloney and Jurrah need to time recover from their injuries Funny, I'd never found that emoticon useful before.
  13. Hughes is still on the rookie list and I'm not sure if we're even able to elevate him, given that we've already got three rookie listers on the senior list (Valenti, McKenzie, Spencer). Bail must've been named on a last man standing basis. The only others left that played were McNamara, Buckley at half fitness and Robbo. It is laughable that he'd go from emergency to playing in the reserves though.
  14. His kicking for goal obviously needs work, but I definitely think you're talking out of your backside with the commitment to contests. Jetta's rough around the edges and is fairly slow for his size, but he shows promise and a big part of the reason why is because he's so hard at it. Yes he's missing shots on goal, but the fact that he's getting shots should tell you something. Besides, it's hardly surprising that a kid taken in the 50s, and in his first year of footy, has some flaws. I reckon he deserves a lot more slack than you're currently cutting him.
  15. Are we asking "why the club exists" or "why I continue to follow the club"? I think you've answered the second question, but the first question is the one asked in the poll. FWIW I wouldn't bother following this club if I thought a premiership was permanently out of reach either. My answer to the actual question: Football clubs exist as an outlet for a bunch of competitive blokes to be able to put their skills to the test against the best. The best and most primary benchmark of this is obviously a premiership, but I don't reckon that's why they exist, it's just something they should be striving for since they do exist.
  16. I saw this on 'ology too. I had never heard of Karmichael Hunt before this. How big is his profile in the NRL?
  17. Indeed. I imagine if he's got the ball, we wouldn't be having this discussion -- we'd probably be having a significantly different one. Conversely, if he'd put himself in line with the ball rather than out of the way, he'd have increased his chances of getting it significantly. Either way, he will hopefully learn from it.
  18. Injuries interrupting the progress of exciting future players; Garland, Wonaeamirri, Strauss, Blease. I'd even include Meesen.
  19. Y_M is pro-tank
  20. Don't know about everyone else, but I've completely lost interest in the ins and outs.
  21. Argh! Why are you all of a sudden called Hannibal? Change it back! In answer to the question, I don't think either of the answers really cover how I was feeling at the time. I was hoping they'd play well and still not win, and still felt my typical hatred of the opposing team, so I suppose you'd say Melbourne. I find the thought of actually barracking for the opposition sickening.
  22. I agree. Don't know about anyone else, but I've never felt so flat after a win as I did against Port. We were poor, they just happened to somehow be worse. Sydney were only marginally better. I could maybe suffer the wins if they were because we were playing brilliant, beautiful football, but we're still playing rubbish, even when we're competitive. I could definitely at least sympathise with the anti-tankers anyway. Eeking out wins against horse poo sides does nothing for me.
  23. There are no words to describe how disappointed I would be if we were to trade any of our early picks this year.
  24. He's a grunt midfielder. His strengths would be wasted on the half back line, he needs to be in and around the stoppages. Personally, I'd ignore any positioning of players for the rest of this year. If you think they're being played in the wrong position, they probably are, and it's probably on purpose.
  25. I might've accepted that argument a year or two ago, but based on form at Casey and on yesterday's game, I reckon that's rubbish. His defensive pressure and first and second efforts are more than up to scratch. It's his kicking for goal that is a problem, and as he's kicked large bags in the VFL, I'd suggest this problem is entirely in his head. I haven't seen any evidence whatsoever that he isn't giving 100% 100% of the time this year.
