CASEY DEMONS V FOOTSCRAY VFL - Round 5
Cheap Seats replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is Petty's body ready though??? -
Agree, I also think he helps our team. and i think we are on the same page. I just think short term speed in the fwd line of Garlett and Hunt needs time to develop and could be dangerous. You add some more quality like J Smith and Hannan as well as T Mac/Petracca as the keys and the Fwd line on paper seems more potent. We still have a long way to go though - our disposal is shizen, and our ability to lock the ball forward is abysmal. But there were at least some signs yesterday
-
I don't buy in to the theory that when Hannan gets back our forward line woes will disappear.
-
I haven't looked at the stats, but I'd rekon he'd be up there with the most kicked for the year. I agree, I'd definitely stick with him up forward for forward pressure alone. He needs time to develop. I know Garlett has struggled, but I'd persist with him as well. Just needs time and confidence

Embarrassingly poor No skills Too many commit to contests and Selfish

Im the same @Gorgoroth, I really cbf with the AFL and the direction it's taking I will always support the Dees and pay my membership but I don't want to go to games or watch or support anything the AFL is doing. I suddenly have realised how some of the older generations feel, the game is changing and we won't even recognise it in 5 - 10 years. We seemed determined to go down the American path of FA and selling out for the almighty dollar so gil and the players can fill their pockets. I will give anyone $10000 who can convince me a night GF is all about the footy and not the tv/corporate revenue it will make the AFL

I didn't mind the article... From this I can take away that defence is the biggest issue the club feels that needs to be fixed asap. I think we saw that on Wednesday night, there is a bigger focus on defence. There are a lot of other issues as well. Like spped and disposal efficiency which I will watch with interest over the next 6 games to see how it improves. We are 1 - 5. I am hoping for 3 and 3 over the next 6. Lets see what happens
-
There was some talk we were interested in Langdon from Freo Hes exactly what we need. I understand Langdon has put contract talks on hold
-
I don't think we are actually arguing as we agree with each other but in different ways. Although 10 out of 25 isn't a great ratio Melksham IMO still looked the most damaging. And yes I am saying he looked our most damaging and yes I am saying its a reason why we are [censored] I also think pace and the ability to cover the ground and put on pressure is important, that is why I believe we have a very poor record on bigger grounds. That is why the tigers are so successful, they don't have highly skilled players but they have pace to put on pressure. Our lines are all slow. The mids need to make up for it but they are all inside plodders. But in saying all of that I agree 100% with what you are saying. If we can correct our disposal eff/turnovers we will get scored against a lot less and pace won't be an issue. I am not off the bandwagon but I understand there is a long way to go for this team and 2019 won't be our year

The healthy ego of Paul Roos and our current plight.

It isn't anyones fault that the AFL decided to change the rules and thus how the game was played. I am not sure how people are missing this important fact Its fact the AFL and the media cronies wanted a more open and "beautiful game". Go look up some articles from last year. It is the MFCs fault for the readiness of the list to accommodate change. And Fact is we committed everything to a contested possession in close game style. We need to reset now as it hasn't worked. -
How are they an asset if they are not winning the ball or getting it back? The easy the ball rebounds out of our F50 is due to a lack of forward pressure, and the mids inability to chase/harass and create pressure for various reasons (lack of pace, endurance, effort, just being shiz). They win the ball then they can't kick and they can't chase, watch how easily teams rebound against us. It's not all of the defenders fault we are getting scored against easily. Look at Brayshaws effort v Reiwoldt. Brayshaw would easily be in our top 2 for tackles in the past. And that was a shiz effort..... so the question is why unfit slow or doesn't care? You can call it lack of discipline all you like for me our slow one paced midfield is a liability. The saddest part about Wednesday night for me was our best mid wasn't even a mid. Goody should have stuck with Melksham in the middle
-
No But to be fair our whole starting mids are if they are not winning the ball. Our starting mids are slow (Viney, Harmes, Oliver & Brayshaw - even Gawn but we are not talking rucks) They can win the ball but they can't chase or kick.... It's a massive problem
-
Sadly I think the big man has gone out of the game a little. Apart from Grundy who is good around the ground and maybe Witts??? Is there any other ruckman playing consistently well at the moment? Thanks again AFL.... Gil and Buddah u f wits
-
Apparently not We are but simple men.
-
A bit of seriousness form myself. We've gone with 2 game styles now 1. We can't defend but we can score but lose 2. We can defend but can't score and lose Goody needs to pick a style and stick to it. Drop players who don't preform or can't and rebuild form there
-
This attempt obviously worked.... Haha joking old fella... There are no words for the embarrassment
-
I don't think 1 bad year sinks Goody. Sorry kids.... But it's a good test of how much of a basket case we actually are. Recent history has seen Tigs, Pies, Saints, Pooort and even the Bloos all hold and improve after poor displays. Will be interesting to see what happens at Norf

If the game is terrible there is joint next door on Punt rd which will cheer you up
-
Demonland just wouldn't be the same - Poor ol @picket fence wouldn't know what to do.. By the way Picket im joining on your bandwagon.... This is rubbish So we tried playing an open game and couldn't defend - No we defend and can't score... Good times
-
I disagree there was a lack of effort I think the lack of run and speed is due to carrying too man slow one paced players Viney, Brayshaw Harmes are too slow and don't impact the game. Oliver isn't slow but isn't impacting games Melksham was out best mid tonight and he was playing at HFF Our problems is a complete lack of pace, and super super bad skills from the whole group... So so bad
-
Not the worst but hard to be bad when you're no where near it
-
So was the goal in the 3rd. We havent produced anything since qtr time.
