  1. Thought we'd put in a good effort to stick with them to three quarter time and we'd lose them in the last quarter. Thank God I was wrong. How good is it to actually fight a game out until the end again! Supreme effort all round today with many contributors. Well done Dees!
  2. What are they saying now?
  3. Vale. "Give him a run in the ruck" will live forever. I say it regularly footy related and not.
  4. It was a Hawthorn member make up home game. They also have over 20,000 more members than us, so if they didn't have more supporters there it would be a shock. Hawks supporters are fair-weather. Dees supporters are among the most loyal there are. The narrative we don't turn up is demonstrably false and I'm [censored] sick of it. Hawks had an average match crowd of less than 3000 more than us last year. That's in a year where they made a semi final and we finished bottom 14th.
  5. Langfordddddddd Give him the Rising Star now and adjust his Brownlow odds. Superstar!
  6. Langford on track to become our best ever midfielder lol
  7. Christ the negativity on this site astounds me. It's hard reading here these days. Guerra is a fine appointment. It's a massive positive we finally have a CEO after being rudderless since last year. We have a CEO we great business background and the strongest possible ties to the racing industry while we surprise surprise try to lock Caulfield in as our clubs home for the future. A club CEO doesn't need football experience to be good at the job. He should have nothing to do with the footy aspects of the club and should be focused on enabling success through off field and business. He has footy admin and experts for the on field stuff, and if they can't deliver then we get new ones. Just look at Pert getting involved in footy list related decisions and how that went for us since late last year... This is a positive for the club. It's sad to see people on here vomiting up tish and hurling negativity at the club endlessly. I thought we were supporters not detractors?
  8. Of course he'd wind up at Geelong. They somehow endlessly get players go to them and keep under the salary cap. Free agent too, so costs them nothing as no trade required. That would suck.
  9. Agreed. After months of being rudderless, it's great to finally get a CEO locked in who appears to have the business chops to push us where we need to be. This is a positive day and it's a shame to see all the negative commentary on here as usual. Let's support our new CEO and look forward to positive progress. A new home base is the primary priority he'll be focused on and hopefully he can deliver where our previous few leaders have failed.
  10. 100% agree. He looks passionate too, celebrates hard after kicking goals. He's got a knack for finding the scoreboard regularly as a midfielder. I believe he'll become our next Trac, Clarry, Gus level midfield star. Super excited to get him to the club!
  11. Richmond won 3 flags with Nankervis as a ruckman and using midfielder Shaun Grigg as backup ruck. It's unlikely we'll be going up against another dominant ruckman like Max in future. Even if we do, reality is rucks are one of the least impactful positions on the ground. Flags are usually won with legitimate spuds in the ruck. We need to continue to invest in quality young mids and talls.
  12. Langford! Superstar in the making
  13. Uh oh bed [censored] incoming
  14. After we ousted him, he'd never come back. It was an obvious mistake to push him out the door. He was a superior player to many other players we later lost or delisted anyway. He was a key contributor down back during our premiership year and would've been a premiership player if not for an unfortunately timed injury at end of the season. Wish him all the best. Great guy and underrated player.
  15. Does Leppitsch have any ambition of being a senior coach again? From memory he's been an assistant at multiple premiership clubs and seems to have the respect and nous to be a senior coach if he desired. We should be sounding him out.
  16. Hasn't looked like taking a mark for 12 months. No support around him but his marking form is horrific. At this point he needs to be tried in defense to save his career.
  17. If Kozzie leaves we're genuinely buggered
  18. Crazy to see a team with 15 premiership players battling for the spoon and throwing up scores like it's the Neeld years. Massive fall from the most successful group in most of our lifetimes.
  19. Just spent two hours getting a sick toddler to sleep. Then the TV and see the score. Seems like more of the same from this group? Belted around the ball and bombing to a congested forward line?
  20. Yes from me assuming he can get his body sound and doesn't command too high of a salary. Our midfield is a mess and we've lost depth this past few seasons without replacing it. While we've got great young talent and good senior players, the middle age bracket of our list is where we fall down. We drafted well, but recruited poorly. Worpel is a proven AFL level player and has shown seriously good clearance ability. Not the best ball user, but he's an upgrade on the next rung down in our midfield (Sparrow, Laurie, Woewodin types). At his peak in 2023, he was top 10 in the league for clearances and top 5 in the league for centre clearances. He was also pretty handy last year in a strong Hawks team. We've got no high draft picks and limited lower draft this year due to poor trading, so we'd be mad not to target him as a free agent if he doesn't command a big salary. He's a decent midfielder IMO. The big question is why would he want to come to us? We stink on field and off field. Hawks are flying on field and off field. Other than getting squeezed out for salary reasons, surely there's better options for him.
  21. Can we stop with this revisionist [censored]? We had more than a great few weeks in 2021. We finished top of the ladder, so we had a great year from start to finish. We more than earned that premiership and were a dominant force all year. "Good few weeks" is an outright lie.
  22. Gawn struggling again this week. Is he struggling with carrying the load on and off field for so long or is the end coming fast?
  23. I'm usually dark mode all the way, but for some reason I prefer light mode for this site. I find the topics list clearer that way. Maybe I need more time to adjust.
  24. He's a ripper. I was on his bandwagon all last year and stoked he slid to us. He's going to be an elite midfielder and he showed why on the weekend. He's got a long way to being a finished product obviously, especially his defensive efforts with weak tackling attempts, but he's got an innate ability to find the ball, make decisions under physical pressure, and hit targets by foot. Love that he hits the scoreboard too. He's the key cog to build our future midfield around, with Windsor being the perfect partner in crime for the outside pace and stoppage exit. That was Langford's first full game on the weekend and I reckon it's the best "debut" game since Clarry burst onto the scene against GWS approx 10 years ago. Hopefully we can lock Langford away long term and build around him.
  25. We're already rebuilding on the run. We need to get games into our young talent that will drive us to our next premiership. The problem is our best young talent is all unavailable. We have a group of first rounders we need to pump games into. Windsor, Langford, Lindsey, Tholstrup, JVR, Jefferson, Kozzie, Mcvee. That's our next premiership core. Windsor, Mcvee, Tholstrup, Jefferson, now Lindsey all out injured. JVR struggling without any other tall targets around him and poor midfield supply. Langford only 5 quarters into his career but already showed he will be a star inside midfielder and was among our best yesterday. A long way to go for him and needs to improve defensive efforts, but his ball winning yesterday was the best we've seen since Clarry debuted 10 years ago. Kozzie has been suspended but will come in and have immediate impact, issue there is keeping him at the club when he wants out to WA. We don't have our first rounders this year, so need to trade up again or make tough calls trading out players who have currency. We need more talented kids, especially a tall defender, a ruckman, and players with x factor like Kozzie and Windsor. Kalani White could be the tall defender.
