How Petracca is Chasing Greatness
Will always be a Melbourne legend after his past few seasons and the Norm Smith. He's become a superb player and has stood up in the big games like a champion. Importantly though he always acknowledges the fans and has a positive attitude and real warmth to him. You see him making time for the kids etc and he's just a fantastic role model for the youngsters following the club and is drawing new supporters too. He's become the superstar player and marketing dream we dreamt of for so many decades.

NON-MFC: Finals 2022 Week 01
Great result for us tonight. Much prefer playing Lions at the MCG than the Tigers should we lose tomorrow night. Whoever won tonight is zero chance at the flag anyway. Neither team can defend. That match was exciting to watch, but was amateur standard with horrific structures and some serious plodders out there.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Hope the club announces he's extending his contract during the week off we'll have before the prelim!

2022 Free Kick Differential
Mental to see the Dogs with nearly double the next closest team. They have had the most insanely biased run I can remember, and that includes a lot of throws not paid in the spirit of the AFL wanting to “make the game faster”!

List management - this year's tricky decisions
Agreed regarding Jackson and Young. Young recently signed a 5 year extension with the Dockers, so he's under contract and not homesick. Jackson is out of contract and supposedly homesick, meaning we lose leverage. Young was superb this year, had a big impact on games, and is a future All Aus half back flanker. If he were to be involved in the Jackson trade, there would be no first rounder involved with him. It would be a straight swap. I'd take that trade and think it's a decent result for us, but it won't happen unfortunately. It's shaping that we'll get two first rounder in the teens, one this year and one next year, with one being on traded for Grundy. I'm not happy with that, but have to back the club in I guess! I agree with most of the other assessments, though the ones @Deespicable has mentioned for trade would all be token trades, netting a 3rd rounder at best perhaps for Bedford, and peanuts 4th-5th rounder for Baker and Chandler to help them prolong their AFL careers at another club.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Was drafted late first round. He's also not a key forward at 189cms and 81kgs. While he's a decent young talent, he's not what were after as we have enough mid and small forwards. We need key forwards. If true, then go hard! He's shown he could become an elite ruckman as he matures more and like his brother his aerial work and contested marking is very good. He's the right age bracket having just turned 23 years old a few weeks ago, so he'd be perfect as a long term ruck options after Max. 23 years old, 203cms tall, 103kgs, very athletic for his size. I'd be offering him a decent bit of coin and throwing a first rounder at Carlton for him.

CHANGES: QF vs Sydney
Salem in for Bowey if fit, otherwise no change. I don’t expect TMac to get up. It would be a big risk to name him and change the structure of the team with another tall based off 3 quarters in the VFL this weekend. He’s missed a lot of footy and as an endurance athlete I struggle to see him coming in and having an impact. He usually takes time to find form when returning from injury too.

2022 Finals Tickets
Well if we make the Prelim and Grand Final, can safely say most of us won't be able to get seats even if we paid for reserved ones! More members makes it harder to get seats. Double edged sword of more support!

2022 Finals Tickets
I got my MCC tickets at 9:06am. All level 1+2 were gone already, but got right at the front of level 4. Not the worst result and just happy I'll be watching us play finals at the G again. It's been years and those 2018 ones were awesome fun with 90,000+ fans going nuts!

NON-MFC: Round 23, 2022
For bugger all impact. Multiple kicks of his smothered too. When the whips are cracking he just doesn’t stand up. Doesn’t offer much onfield direction either. Not a great captain IMO.

Jayden Hunt set to play his first finals.
Deserves it. Never should’ve been dropped this year and proven to be an important part of our defensive unit. I’ve been vocal about him being in the team and so glad he got his chance and he’s taking his opportunity. We play better with him there to take smalls and provide rebound. Onya Hunty!

Dean Kent retires
Didn't mind him and he had potential to be a really good player, decent pace and a booming kick. Unfortunately his body didn't give him a good run at it. Best of luck to him in retirement.

GAMEDAY: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
We'll win comfortably tonight. Not a belting like last time, but 4-5 goals. We've got the wood on Brisbane, and as much as the media want to make out we're in poor form, Brisbane are in the same boat and have stumbled over the line at home against weaker opposition. We also travel incredible well and will be on the road again first week of final to play Swans at the SCG. Get it done Dees!

Footy Classified
Welcome back to the thread LH 😘 On the topic, I hate footy media these days also. It's far too negative and there's so much baseless rubbish said with no accountability. I tend to come to Demonland for footy discussion and news and hope threads don't turn into ****fights when opinions aren't agreed with. Not sure this thread specifically about FC and Eddie was necessary, but always appreciate your posts LH and love your weekly threads about what opportunity fans are saying.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Treloar is about the 30th best mid in the league. Grundy is a top 5 ruckman. Big difference in both position and Players worth. You might not care what the AFL say, but it’s entirely relevant to the discussion. When he returns from injury he won’t be playing in the VFL. Again, I hope the interest isn’t strong from us and the trade doesn’t happen. If it does though then we’ll be sending a first rounder across unfortunately.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Treloar was traded for a first round pick and late picks shuffled. 900k salary continuing to pay 300k. Grundy is a million with 300k likely continuing to be paid. The AFL would not sign off on a trade where a million dollar player is traded for anything less than a first round pick. Even then it would be borderline and likely require latter picks added in Pies favor. I’m saying I agree with it, in fact I’m being vocal in here saying I don’t support it and believe both picks and salary should be used elsewhere. But while we may not like it, that’s the reality of the situation. Those in here suggesting a million dollar player would not net a first round pick are taking the absolute [censored] and need to take the red and blue blinkers off. The AFL won’t sign off on the trade. What we will be discussing here later this year is which of our two incoming first round picks we give up for him.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
He’s an All Australian ruckman on a million dollar salary. He’s worth a first rounder. We’d likely trade Jackson for two first rounders and then on trade one of those first for Grundy. Anyone thinking we’d get him for less than a first rounder whilst he’s contracted, salary dump or not, has rocks in their head. It’s part of why I don’t believe it’s the best move for the club. We should instead use first round picks to help bring in a proven key forward or draft more young talent to balance our list.

What's next for Adem Yze?
Go watch the Making Their Mark documentary on Amazon Prime. It follows a number of players and coaches throughout the 2020 season. Cameron did not come across well, was very negative towards his players and made poor decisions. The way he handled Coniglio as a person and leader around the players was disgraceful. Perhaps he’d be ok as an assistant coach again with less pressure on him, but based on what was shown you’d steer clear of him being in your club environment. Stuart Dew on the other hand was far more positive and involved with developing and connecting with his players. He put the time in with Rowell and other youngsters and was far more encouraging with his approach and language as well as being more creative with activities to stimulate the players. Hardwick was also much better at motivating and connecting with his players. Can see why Richmond were very successful under him despite not liking him.

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
I was confused too, as the stats on the AFL app have to be incorrect. It’s impossible as those numbers don’t add up! But regardless, Saad was definitely ineffective and his poor decision making was a key reason we were able to win.
-
POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
18 kicks for 7 turnovers. He just kept banging it long down the line to no effect and his poor decision making was a key reason we won IMO. Blues looked far more dangerous when others in the team were rebounding through the middle or switched the play. Stats back it up to as Saad was only involved in 3 scoring chains, so the Blues scored when others were linking up instead. Very overrated player and not worthy of AA HBF as the media is touting. Looks flash running and bouncing often, but his disposal and impact on games is often poor for his team.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Wasn't the best 38 disposal game by any stretch, but most clearances on the ground, high metres gained, and doing a job successfully on Cripps is worthy of praise and a key reason we won. His move further up the ground has been a good one for us. Our defense has been more balanced, and our midfield has another weapon. Since his move into the midfield 3 weeks ago, we've played some of our best footy for the season. Keep it up Gus!
