		COACHES VOTES: Round 08

Scott's likely given his boys top votes despite them having less impact and playing in a losing team. More concerning for us is the form of Petracca. A month ago he was second in the coaches votes and looked to be vying with Heeney for the Brownlow. He has been below his usual impact the past 3 weeks or so. Hoping he's just slightly down on form and not carrying any injury. We need him firing when the whips are cracking in September.

Lever was best on ground last night and is on his way to another All Australian guernsey. He's intercepting well, but it's his rebound that's improved this year. His side step through traffic and tackles is brilliant and seems to work every time. He's the form defender of the league atm.

		Jake Lever on the couch

He should be captain, but hard to replace Gawn who's such a star and lead us to a flag. Jake's the most natural leader at the club, probably in the top few leaders in the whole league, and could be a future coach. We're blessed to have him.

		NON-MFC: Round 07

Hard to believe we lost to the Lions at home. Embarrassing loss and could cost us top four. We need to learn to own the MCG again and beat up interstate teams at home.

		The Hugh McCluggage Thread

LDU is contracted and not a free agent until end of 2025. We'd have to trade for him this year as a "pre-agent".

		GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

There were worse during the Nield years! It has been a putrid match so far. Skills from both sides atrocious. Umpiring poor both ways. On form it's hard to see how we're a legitimate contender this year with such poor forward connection and conversion. Seems we haven't fixed our main issue of the last two years.

		Rory Lobb

No. No. Stay the **** away. He's a cancer on club culture. He's been at three clubs now, is already 32 and his infield output is inconsistent at best. For a guy his size he's as soft as they come. He makes Schache look like a brute. I'll burn my membership if this [censored] ever pulls on red and blue.

		GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

If we're a good team then this should be a big percentage boosting win for us. Richmond are bottom 4-6 quality and decimated by injury. Despite Yze's intimate knowledge of our team, we should still absolutely belt them akin to a training run. Coming off a fresh break with more fit players available, there's no excuses. On another note, we need to learn to play the MCG better. It's our home ground, and yet we get beaten there regularly and lose repeatedly to interstate clubs in home games. Our finals record there in recent times speaks for itself. It's concerning that even after years of inconsistency and failure there, nothing appears to have changed from a gameplay or strategic direction. We need the MCG to become a fortress for us. Finals wins at the MCG should be a foregone conclusion, not a battle we lose.

		Kolt to debut vs Brisbane

Grounded and well spoken. Sounds like he's fitting in well and getting great mentorship from Viney. Hopefully his positive mindset helps him thrive at the Dees!

		JvR Re-Signs until 2029

Great result. He's struggling a bit this year but he's a great young talent and has versatility and grunt. A key pillar for our forward stocks and structure for the coming years. Always good to lock away another WA kid.

		Kolt to debut vs Brisbane

He struggled with the pace of the game, but he's an 18 year old playing his first game at the level against last years grand finalists (and deserved premiers). His effort was good, he got to a number of contests early, laid a number of strong tackles and showed some footy smarts. He's got a good frame and with more size he'll break some of those tackles he got held in last night. Midfield scope in future. He'll be a player with more time to develop. Poor night for him to debut. His team mates should apologize to him for the pathetic effort they served up. He needs better leadership than what he was offered last night.

		POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Brisbane

No Kozzie no Melbourne. He's the barometer. His pressure in the forward half is missed and we've lost both matches this year he's missed now in similar fashion. Also miss the ability to change up a losing midfield combination. He needs to reel in the rough stuff now and just stay on the field.

		POSTGAME: Rd 05 vs Brisbane

Our tall forwards remain a major problem. I know the ball isn't going in there cleanly for them, but they need to create more leads so there's movement and space to utilize. Petty, JVR and Brown are all battling for impact. If we had any other options in the VFL you'd drop Petty. JVR has been decent in the ruck but poor up forward. His marking skills seem to have abandoned him. He gets to so many but then has them slip through the hands like Chris Dawes used to. The thing that [censored] me though is surely as a forward getting manhandled, you can position yourself to earn a free kick. Chance says you'll earn a free kick eventually, to not earn one actually takes effort haha It's mental how many contested they lose without changing tactic.

Best mate is a Swans supporter. He's not overly fond of Heywood and couldn't care less if he leaves. "Kicks 3 goals then disappears for a month. Doesn't have the physical presence of other bigs. Doesn't have the speed or intensity of Paps and co. Easy one to move on for cap space".
