  1. This club is [censored]. How the [censored] did we stuff that up?! 5 goals up in the last quarter and let them kick 8 goals in a quarter after restricted them to 8 for the whole match prior to that point! When will we get some decent onfield leaders?! Why were our leaders not spreading the word to slow it down and ice it in the last 5 minutes?! The same mistakes for decades, nothing has changed. We may even finish with a worse record than last year and wind up going backwards. Unbelievable. Get [censored].
  2. This club is [censored]. I feel like we're so horrible we can somehow defy the laws of the universe to find new ways to [censored] up.
  3. Jeez Gold Coast are putting up a fight. Can't accuse them of tanking! Hopefully they get over the Swans here, would help our chances in the run home!
  4. Great he chose to stick with the club instead of exploring free agency and heading back to WA. He’s a reliable small defender and good role model and mentor within the club. Now we just need to get Gus signed up too!
  5. Congrats to him on 150 games! I was one of the few on here who defended him in his early days at the club. He's always had talent to burn, but for some reason people always seem to sink the boot in and use him as a whipping boy. Might be due to having a bit of a punchable head He just needed a bit of time to settle into a new environment and to be played in a suitable position. It's been good to watch him flourish up forward. He played his best footy at Essendon on the half forward flank rotating through the midfield, so it was strange to see him rotting away in the back pocket for a bit there where his strengths weren't being utilised. I'm glad the coaches shifted him, as we've now seen what he's capable of. Those long flat kicks are a delight to watch then he strikes them. Hopefully he becomes a bit more selfish and launches a few more of those 50 metre goals the next few weeks! He's become a barometer and leader out there for us, and if we're to head into September I feel he will be a big part of that.
  6. We'll need 13. Hopefully the St Kilda game doesn't cost us finals. I'll be fuming if we fail again.
  7. It's not that clear cut. Tyson is unarguably a better footballer, but Hannan fits our team better at the moment. Tyson "only" averages 2.4 clearances this year because he's been played out of position on a wing. If he played in the centre to replace Viney he'd rack up clearances like he used to, as he's a good inside midfielder. With Viney going down, he may be called upon to play in his natural position where he can thrive. Hannan is struggling recently. He's still chiming in with a goal every week, but he's really not impacting games. He just doesn't lay enough tackles or contribute to enough goals. There are others that could perform his role better on form. I'd actually be keen to bring Bugg in to play Hannans forward role. Bugg lays more tackles, wins more hard ball, gets to more contests, generates more scoring shots, is part of more scoring chains, and has the versatility to play tagger/midfield/back pocket also. Don't mind his pest attitude too, that sort of niggle and hardness will be useful come finals time. He should be in the team IMO.
  8. So frustrating that it had been sore for weeks and only now has he been sent off for scans and taken off legs. Not sure who is to blame, Viney not reporting it or medical staff not treating and investigating it properly, but either way it will cost us now and isn't professional enough. We've had a number of these foot injuries the past few years, more than any other club (Trengove, Garland, Grimes, Vanders, Viney x 2, McDonald, Stretch), so we should have learnt how to treat them by now. I'll be [censored] ropable if 2017 repeats and we narrowly miss finals again with Jack is sitting on the sidelines. [censored] ropeable.
  9. Media report says it's the same toe. No crack, but stress issue. Mahoney made it sound like it'll be a few weeks out and back before finals. Hopefully.
  10. Yeah he's obviously a good player to lose. Our injury list compared to last year is a lot better though. And compared to other top 8 teams (Richmond aside) we've had a great run with injury this season. The Pies are sitting second on the ladder with a massive injury list.
  11. Well Clarry won't be resting forward much now that Viney is out with the foot injury again. He'll be needed in the centre to carry a heavier load.
  12. Ugh. We've had a good run with injury this year so I guess our luck was bound to run out some time! Still, one player should not make a team. Dees by 29 points.
  13. Dodged a massive bullet here. 5 years for a 29 year old who struggles to get on the park is laughable. They reckon he’ll be playing to the standard until he’s 34? He’s struggling now as it is, let alone in a few years time. Sloanes has had a good career, but he’s probably laughing all the way to the bank now. Now we can focus on getting a durable player who actually gets on the park and performs consistently in Gaff. Bullet dodged. Have fun Crows hahahhahahhahahahaa
  14. Correct SFebey. He’s from SA, and left Brisbane to go back home. He won’t be leaving and this is just his manager pressuring Port to improve/push through a new contract. Hes the type of player we need to target though. Good quick runner who can impact games and compliment our inside brigade.
  15. Someone post this gif again please! Gets me going every time!
  16. I opened this thread expecting news he had re-signed. I am disappoint. Sign on Gus!
  17. That’s the right thing to do in those conditions. The humidity meant the ball was slippery, so you likely won’t be able to pick it up cleanly and are better off just keeping it moving forward like the Tigers (and Hawks of yesteryear) do so well. The players interviewed after the game said the conditions were akin to a wet game after a downpour. The lack of sheperd is also not the worst, as he trusted Trac to win the ball and get it out to him. Too often this year all our players get sucked into the contest and no one is left on the outside to receive and distribute. While it doesn’t look great on review, it was the right thing to do and would’ve worked in better conditions.
  18. 41 disposals and 2 goals, including an important one to seal the win. Gun. Lets hope we can afford him!
  19. He was best on ground again last night. Absolutely brilliant young player. In recent memory, only Joel Selwood and Chris Judd have had similar impact in their first 50 games, but I’d wager Clarry bests them both statistically. Oliver is a rare talent. If he starts hitting the scoreboard more regularly he’ll quickly become a top 5 in the league player. Very happy he’s in red and blue!
  20. Forget top 4. We’re not deserving of a top 4 finish and will be lucky to make the 8 with our fixture to finish the year. I’d be happier to concede top 4 spot to Pies (who are better than us) than battle a resurgent Essendon who have an easier fixture.
  21. I’d prefer Pies and Eagles to win. I’d rather make finals more of a certainty than the pipe dream of top 4. We’re going to struggle to make the 8 as it is, so we need results to go our way. Bombers very competitive against the Pies today. Wish we showed the same endeavor when playing at the MCG!
  22. Hanners is cooked. He’s a shadow of the player he was and has struggled for coming up on two years now. His body is letting him down and he’s never been a good kick as it is. Big pass. Ollie Florent looks a gun and the perfect target for us. But again, we have no currency to trade so will have to give up a quality player (eg. Brayshaw, Petracca, Oliver etc) to get him. Risky thing to entertain and he’s less proven at this stage.
  23. And yet no one has been able to beat them in over a year on the only ground that matters! It will be good to see how we perform tomorrow with an injection of speed in Garlett, Frost and Spargo. I’m tipping we’ll put in a far better performance than the past month.
  24. We also need to win 6 of our last 8 now just to make the bottom half of the 8. If we lose tomorrow, we're pretty much done.
  25. Up by over 50 points. They haven't lost at the MCG in over a year now. They've also reached the longest winning streak at the MCG set by the Demons in the 50s. They are truly awesome. I wish I could enjoy watching us play at the MCG like this!
