Who decides to get married on Grand Final Day?????
The Backyard Charizard replied to Goodvibes's topic in Melbourne Demons
Tough spot to be in.... I have been there before though.... 2004 GF and I just told my mate the truth.... Being a bloke he understood.... Although he hates footy (there are a few of these pitiful humans) he is an A Grade cricket captain and I just told him that I would be having my wedding on Boxing Day when the time comes! Of course, this was the biggest empty threat in history! I ended up rocking up to the reception at 8pm, fell out of a taxi, stumbled in to see everyone well on the way to being smashed, hooked up with a bridesmaid, still together and happy as hell.... The story is one of legend with the boys! Good Luck -
We still have a game this week people!

This is the perfect game for a good ol' fashioned "Shoot Out" We will lose, but will lose by more if we try and contain all their runners... Burgoynes, Cornes, Cassisi, Rodan, Pearce, Surjen..... Kick to..... Tredrea, Ebert (Injury cloud), Westhoff McLean, Jones, Sylvia, McDonald, Bruce, Bell...... Kick to..... Neitz, Juice, Robbo, Bate At least it would be enjoyable to watch.... -
Every team, next years coach and the ladder
The Backyard Charizard replied to deanbarber's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll have a crack at this Adelaide - Craig Brisbane - Matthews Carlton - Voss Collingwood - Malthouse Essendon - Harvey Fremantle - Daniher Geelong - Thompson Hawthorn - Clarkson Kangaroos - Laidely Melbourne - Sheedy * Port Adelaide - Williams Richmond - Wallace St.Kilda - Lyon Sydney - Roos West Coast - Worsfold Western Bulldogs - Eade * Will either be Sheedy or Guy McKenna.... Gone with Sheedy purely because of Tim Watson's push and also I have a feeling that one G Lyon has been speaking to Sheedy for a while behind the scenes.... I believe that the whole GL push for Sheedy to leave Essendon was part of the master plan.... -

You are correct, not much yap about the game against the Port Fairy Power.... I will be there with the girlfriend and will be screaming my guts out as always.... Nothing quite like watching the Dees at Moron Park! Will only be about 22,000 there I reckon but should be an interesting game.... Pretty sure we will get dominated, but if we can somehow manage to stop Chad Cornes (Bell???) and Kane (Godders) which leaves only The Bourgoynes, Danyle Pearce, David Rodan, Jacob Surjen.... OMG.... We will lose by 30+ points..... But I am just hoping that Neitz has the same pre-match routine as last week..... A few panadol and a BOOST JUICE -
After getting the arse before the end of the year he will be looking for a way to stick it up the EFC board!! For the last month we've been hearing about how he will see out the year and they will make a decision then about whether to re-new his contract.... EFC board have treated him with a total lack of respect and have kicked him in the guts! And you wonder why The Bummers and The Filth are so dear to our hearts?!?! I think we would be stupid not to at least talk to Sheeds and see what his thoughts are on our list and what he could bring to the club.... The man has been the best thing that happened to The Bummers since WWII and their loss could well be our gain! I'm not convinced that he IS the man for the job, but with a fresh start and a decent midfield to work with, the bloke could be quietly excited!!

That is pure GOLD champ!! Watching Cloke miss that goal = $100 Watching Sylvia evade, kick to Bate, running goal from 50m = $1000 Watching Joffa go off his nut at the umpires and then the highlights of Robbo getting away with one = PRICELESS -
ND to depart after Essendon match
The Backyard Charizard replied to Rogue's topic in Melbourne Demons
How can we go from having a "happy-go-lucky" bloke like ND, to a "sour-faced brick wall" like Laidley???? If we employed Laidley as a coach, I would not buy a membership during his reign!!!! Give me Vossy, Ratten, Longmire, McKenna or Todd Viney anyday!! If our coach comes from that group then I would be more than excited about our future.... -
This topic is purely designed to try and figure out what the prospective coaches would be worth per year.... I have no idea what Neale Daniher was on (annual salary) but what sort of money do you think an experienced assistant coach would be offered and also what sort of money would be offered for a player turned coach such as Vossy???? Are we in a position to offer more than we were paying ND (whatever that was)???
-
What a load of [censored]!@! Neale has been the best thing this club has seen in the last decade and it is the players who are soft as butter.....

I'll take a stab and say, either TJ or Robertson -
Just a quick post to plead with the board of this great football club..... Please don't even talk to Chris Connolly if we get rid of the Rev at the end of the season!!!! I know he is an ex player and his side knocked us out last year, but for god's sake, we are trying to move forward!!! The reason I bring this up is a rumour I heard at work that Chris wants the job..... Give it to Mark Williams or Michael Voss before you even phone the ex Demon.......PLEASE!!!!

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 8
The Backyard Charizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Give the boy 10/10 because it is finally nice to see him give a [censored] out on the field!!!! -
We will lose to the Kangaroos! Factors that lead me to believe this are as follows : 1. Lack of defensive pressure 2. Non-existent voice and ability to help each other out 3. Hamish McIntosh will kill us around the ground 4. We are coming off a trip to Perth 5. Our gameplan will be wrong Sad but true
-
ND will go so we can get our hands on a premiership coach (past or future)
-
Give me 3 or 4 picks in the top 20 and then use them in this way : 1. Tall, athletic ruckman (with a body you can thrown in the gym and get results) 2. Another defender in the mould of Frawley/Rivers but bigger boned 3. Strong utility who can play either CHB or CHF 4. Lightening quick Aboriginal boy with strong leadership (eg. Andrew McLeod) If we were to do this then I would sleep very well on draft night :D
-
How 'bout this.... No one tags anyone and we have a good old fashion shoot-out at Subi..... We may lose by 10 goals but at least it will be a fast, high scoring match.... Let ND tag Woosher and that is all.... :D

100% Heart and Will to Win is all we ask!!
The Backyard Charizard posted a topic in Melbourne Demons
Well done to the boys on their efforts today! No question of heart in my opinion.... Skill and decision making on the other hand is still a major problem but, after an effort like today, I am willing to put that aside for this week! Tried hard all day and even when the Bulldogs replied and upped the ante, we never once dropped our heads and we fought to the end.... That is the Melbourne Football Club I am proud to be a member of!! Sylvia = Well done mate... Your 2nd half and in particular last qtr was what we have been waiting for! Keep improving and the doubters will start to believe Bell = You are one of the highlights of this appalling season! PJ = See what a bit of game time can do! Leave Jamar at Sandy and let PJ play out the year! I like the work around the ground and the link-up play.... Defensively also a handy big man! Flash = Welcome back! Finally people will once again realise that an Aaron is better than an Alwyn :D TJ = Continue to prove me wrong fella.... I like it! The silk may be back?!?! To the other boys in the Red 'n Blue that I have left out = Play with that same heart and intensity every week! Please! It is why we live and breathe the MFC!! -
B: Bruce, CARROLL, Bell HB: Petterd, RIVERS, Brown C: Johnstone, GREEN, Godfrey HF: Davey, MILLER, Bate F: Yze, NEITZ, Dunn FOLL: White, JONES, McDonald IC: Sylvia, MOLONEY, Pickett, P.JOHNSON EMERG: McLean, WARNOCK, Newton If Bruce and/or Petterd don't come up, then I would suggest that Warnock and/or Juice will get a spot on the bench....

Mclean and Green to play doogies
The Backyard Charizard replied to Dee1987's topic in Melbourne Demons
I honestly reckon that they will leave him out of this weeks game against the Dogs and as long as Jones is playing the way he is in the middle, they will not risk Brock in Perth either.... It may sound ridiculous to leave our hardest and most inspirational midfielder out of the side when he is quite possibly fit enough to play, but the soft tissue injuries that he keeps re-injuring must really be worrying the club! Let him get cherry rip before we bring him back... That is my opinion anyway.... I love Brock just as much as the rest of you, but in all seriousness, we are not exactly in a position to play 85% fit players.... We won't be Top 4 like the coaching staff had hoped, so let's not pretend like we are! Bring on 2008 and let's just enjoy the ride for the rest of 2007.... If the boys play with the heart that they did against the Power then we will win more than we lose over the remainder of this season! -
The kid can play and I can't wait to see more of him!!! A couple more years in the gym and we will have one of the most determined, courageous and skillfull running backmen in the game! Now that nearly gives me a chubby!
