I am absolutely loving the fact that the builder down at the MFC has finally decided to let some light into the room and is giving us a WINDOW!!!! You little beauty!!!

Very underrated player, our Barts..... Is given a job every week and IMHO does it quite well..... He may be down a little bit in confidence, but can you blame the bloke.... Has had a crap start to the year off-field and is an absolute trooper for carrying on without a stutter.... Mad respect to him I reckon! Bell is not really high on my list of people to bring into the 22.... He tries hard, but should keep trying hard in the VFL for a little while longer in my eyes

A Match-losing tactic
The Backyard Charizard replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually thought the same thing when he was taken from the ground.... But after listening to an interview with Tredrea this arvo on 5aa I understand a bit more of the reasoning.... Tredrea was saying that he had no problem with being rested whilst "on fire" because at the same point last week he was left on the ground and said he struggled to recover until the half time break.... "Tredders" is no spring chicken and realises that his body (which might I add is looking bigger than ever) can only push hard for so long before needing a few minutes rest on the pine.... He busts his gut presenting himself in the F50 and I for one believe that if he keeps getting these little breaks during the season and remains fit, he will go close to winning the Coleman.... Big call I know! But if Port can actually hit their straps (been playing well within themselves) for the remainder of the season he is in with a big show.... Absolute monster of a bloke and hard to beat one on one.... Is obviously relishing the fact that he is no longer captain and can just focus on what he does best.... Anyway, enough of the banging on about Port Powder.... Go Dees! -
First Rising Star nomination for 2009

I wouldn't be too sure about that..... I know he played really well on the weekend for the Crows, but I have seen this kid absolutely dominate matches in the SANFL.... Now before you say "But that was the SANFL", I can assure you that his freakish ability to have a cracker of a game could see him boot 10 goals at some stage this year! I have seen him kick 7.3 in a prelim final last year and also I have seen him kick a bag of 9.5 An awesome talent along the same lines as Buddy Franklin.... Can be an absolute freak but can also have his lazy days.... Once he puts on a bit more bulk look out! -
A "ONE-PERCENTER"

The difference between the rules as stated in the laws of the game and the interpretation is where the problems arise in the AFL.... The umpires, before each season, gather together with the Geesh and the AFL and whoever else had a hand in baking the scones they eat at these gatherings to decide on what sort of interpretation they will go with for the forthcoming season! It changes year by year and this is why the umpires are a curse on our great game The rules can be black 'n white, but the interpretation differences turn it grey! -

18. Was a few moments in the last quarter when Dick Cox and Hunter both were told by the umpire to throw the ball to the Melbourne player after a free kick.... Hunter took his sweet time with his and I was actually calling for the umpire to give a 50m penalty.... The old throw the ball 25m high 5m long sorta thing.... I guess it's just one of those things about footy that [censored] you off when you are on the receiving end, but you are quite happy with it when the shoes on the other foot -
Massive game by the young bloke..... Lifted in front of his home state.... Stuck it up those Eagles.... Go you good thing BeanHead!!

Demonland Player of the Year
The Backyard Charizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
You cannot be serious?!?!?! Herald Sun WTF?!?!?! PJ - Yes Barts - Maybe, but really how fit was the bloke he was playing on? Davey - Was nothing on what he has been over the last few weeks Who the hell is watching the game for that paper??? Get a clue! Surprised they didn't have a list of best players like : A. Jakovich, R. Jackson, S. O'dwyer, N. Smith, D. Bennett -
Just so everyone knows, my question about the similarity between Morts and Bowden was not a swipe at young Cale.... It was merely an observation that he seems to always get the ball from a fellow teammate (in the back half) and uses it to advantage.... I realise that Bowden is a "useless" possession gatherer and this is where the similarity ends.... IMHO Cale looks to have a fantastic future in the AFL as an elite user of the football.... It is just that he seems to be the sort of bloke who coud, at some stage in his career, collect no less than 20 uncontested marks in 3 qtrs of footy!?!?! Is always in the right place at the right time, and once his body and brain get a few more years into them, he will be freakin' awesome for our great club!! End of explanation

Demonland Player of the Year

6. Morton 5. Jones 4. Miller (How he can be overlooked is beyond me) 3. Moloney 2. PJ (Went along way to redeeming himself, just needs to follow it up next week) 1. Grimes (Well on the way to being worth his weight in gold) Also special mentions to the following : Maric - Well done... Started the game with a few errors like last week, but quickly showed how you can deliver the pinpoint passes we are lacking Rivers - Nothing needs to be said... Just enter your name.... Ballzy.... F'ing Ballzy! Bennell - Fast becoming the next Aaron Davey.... Your future is very bright young man! -
Played a fantastic game today.... At his current level he does not have the body to win the hard ball, so uncontested possessions are fine because he uses the ball so well.... Hopefully his body develops and he can get in and under the packs to win his own ball.... Does anyone else watch him play at the moment and think "Why is Joel Bowden playing in a Melbourne guernsey"???
-
Talking about career defining match for PJ on SEN.... haha.... I hope he has a belter... He needs it!!
-
Looking forward to an exciting, fast-paced match..... Venturing off to the local pub here in Adelaide to watch it on Foxtel..... Channel 7 have the full replay of Cows V Bullduds on over here, so I may have to slip the barman a $10 to get it on one of the other screens hahaha.... I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that Melbourne may click today! Call me crazy, but I think (as we saw with the Bummers on Friday night) the quick, play-on at all costs might come off today.... We will have to wait and see... Go Dees! And good luck to Grimesy..... Also good luck to Maric.... Show 'em what ya got son!

12 possessions in school footy???? Are you joking??? Surely the boy would carve up out there, unless he was just messin' around (in which case he shouldn't have played) I am all for him playing school footy, as long as he is using the skills he has learnt at training with the Dees.... Don't just mess around.... If you are not 100% switched on and playing flat out, that is when injuries occur! Go Dees.... -

SA has given the country some amazing gifts over the years.... To name a few.... Herpes, Syphillis, Rodney Maynard, Wayne Weidermann, Don Dunstan, The Cornes Family, Bruce Abernathy.... Oh and did I mention Herpes? -
The next Nathan Bock..... THe only difference is that Chip will be nicer to his GF

Is the end near for Bruce?
The Backyard Charizard replied to Strawbsodwyer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have been saying this for a while now and I still believe it to be true..... Cameron Bruce will serve the club extremely well in the last 2 years of his career as a smart forward! He knows how to get hold of the football and he can take a grab when he needs to.... If anyone remembers Rnd 6 2004 against Carltank at the MCG you will know what I am talking about! The only reason he is still running around in the middle for the Dees is that our other "outside" midfielders are yet to develop into consistent users of the ball.... Once the younger guys get a grip of the role, then Bruce will (or at least should) be dumped into the forward line to wreak havoc.... I believe this is the plan.... I think he would be quite servicable in the F50 with a possible 35-50 goals a season.... Go Dees! -

Paul Johnson... should he be allowed to play AFL?

Would love to retaliate and get this thread closed..... But I have been here a lot longer than 2 days and realise when to ignore a newbie..... Starting now -
Would love to win the QB clash..... But I have a funny feeling we will beat the West Coke Dealers next Sunday.... I think Subiaco will suit our style and I actually think the boys will put it all together and jag the win!

Paul Johnson... should he be allowed to play AFL?
The Backyard Charizard replied to cooko's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cooko.... Should he be allowed to post on DemonLand?? Or even be allowed to own a computer??? Ridiculous thread!!! -
Wasn't actually going to respond to this topic, but just have to voice my opinion..... Get a life! You obviously have to much time on your hands! Do you take a little note book with you to the footy to write down other peoples eating habits?!?!?! Most people use the footy record to take notes on players goals and behinds...... Not a players pie and chip tally! No $hit, I have been out late at night in Chapel St and I believe diet is the least of a lot of players concerns! Get a grip sunshine!
