  1. I am happiest for those who remember 1964 and have waited these 57 long years! I only have experienced 40 of those years and that was long enough! I do have a tinge of sadness though. Especially for those who have passed away and never got to see our drought breaking Premiership triumph in 2021. I am not just talking about Jimmy Stynes, Robbie Flower, Dean Bailey, Colin Sylvia, Troy Broadbridge and others heavily involved with the Melbourne Football Club. I am talking about those loyal Melbourne members and supporters who used to show up to every game barracking for the Demons and never got to experience the joy and relief that we are fortunate enough to now feel. Unfortunately, that is part of life and when you have a Premiership drought that went from 1964 until 2021 you can expect to lose people along the way. The Sydney (South Melbourne) Swans with a 72 year drought, the Western (Footscray) Bulldogs with a 62 year drought and the Richmond Tigers with a 37 year drought all were ecstatic and relieved when they finally broke their Premiership droughts. We have now been lucky enough to experience the same. Sadly for the Fitzroy Lions they never really got to properly break their drought having to merge with the Brisbane Bears at the end of 1996. However, you could say that many Fitzroy supporters celebrated the Brisbane Lions 2001 Premiership as their own, coincidentally ending their own 57 year drought, which last saw Fitzroy win the Flag in 1944. It is now only the St. Kilda Saints with their current drought of 55 years which hasn't seen them hold up the Premiership cup since 1966. Whether or not they end their drought too remains to be seen. They have definitely had their chances in 1971, 1997, 2009 and 2010 (twice). Nevertheless, my focus is on my beloved Demons and I hope that we can have another Premiership win, this time at the MCG, in the near future. That way I can celebrate it with my Dad and many other loyal Melbourne members and supporters who want to actually be there at our home ground the MCG and experience it properly. I think I will definitely cry tears of joy more if it happens at the MCG and I am there watching it. Anyway, fingers crossed that we finally get to see another Demons Flag very soon! Lastly, I want to say that I hope that the Melbourne Football Club NEVER experiences such a severe Premiership drought as long as 57 years ever again! It is time for some sustained success!
  2. Agreed about Patrick Naish. He is an excellent kick too apparently. In a draft where we won't have any top 20 picks I think he is worth having another look at. Here is his Under 18s highlights reel before he got drafted shown below.
  3. I thought I would burst into tears when the final siren went...but I didn't due to a 74 point belting! I had a few tears when Simon Goodwin and Max Gawn held up the Premiership Cup. The most I cried was when I called my Dad on the phone and said we would take a photo of us both holding the 2021 Premiership Cup together once it gets back to Melbourne.
  4. I think the Melbourne Demons AFLW side is a good chance of winning the Premiership this coming season. Tayla Harris is a fantastic recruit for us to get! I genuinely hope they can be inspired by the men's AFL side! However, I do feel that AFLW is a bit of a novelty for the majority of Australians. Just like women's cricket. Whether those attitudes change remains to be seen.
  5. Premiership drought over!
  6. I just wanted to say I think Demon Wiki is a fantastic website! I am a bit of a Melbourne Demons history buff and I love it. Here is the link for those who don't know what I am talking about: http://demonwiki.org/Home I look forward to seeing it updated to include our most recent Premiership success now that we are 2021 Premiers! The significance of the Melbourne Demons winning the 2021 Premiership has not been lost on me. The Demons were hopeless for many years. We "won" 7 wooden spoons since 1964. We nearly got merged with Hawthorn, Fitzroy, North Melbourne and Richmond. We nearly went bankrupt if it wasn't for Jimmy Stynes' "Debt Demolition" campaign. The fact that we survived 57 years of pain is absolutely remarkable. I admit I did shed a few tears of joy on Saturday evening. But not as many as I expected due to our utter thrashing of the Bulldogs. Our club has seen so much tragedy. The loss of Robbie Flower, Jimmy Stynes, Sean Wight and Dean Bailey to cancer. Troy Broadbridge in the Boxing Day Tsunami. Colin Sylvia in a car accident. Then you have Neale Daniher's struggle against MND. Then you have Norm Smith's curse which has finally been lifted! The 2021 Premiership means so much to so many Melbourne people. I think I will probably cry more if we are lucky enough to win the Premiership again but this time at our ancestral home the MCG. Anyway, we shall wait and see for season 2022 and beyond. The best thing about winning the flag in 2021 is now knowing that the Melbourne Football Club now has a bright future. GO DEMONS!!!
  7. One side of me thinks we need to win 5 more Premierships for the 5 decades of missing out. The other side says, just be humble and take it one season at a time. In all honesty I am not greedy, but another Premiership at the MCG would be nice. Just so I can be there with my Dad and enjoy it properly. However, if I was Simon Goodwin I would be showing the Demons players footage and documentaries about NBA basketball dynasties such as the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls. That would definitely inspire Christian Petracca and the other NBA lovers on our team.
  8. I cannot sing Jason Taylor's praises high enough. He has been a wonderful recruiter for us! Let's hope we can get a few gems in this year's AFL draft too!

Yes, agreed. Ben King should definitely be a target for us. It just depends if he wants to play with his twin brother Max at St. Kilda.
  10. I am going to say anything over 65,000+ will be wonderful. We had over 52,000 members this year. So an increase of over 10,000 would be great to see. If we get 70,000+ members then that will be HUGE!!! We won't be a small club anymore with those numbers. Remember that you need sustained success with multiple Premierships to expect to see genuine growth of members. We have missed out on generations of Melbourne supporters after 57 years of mediocrity. However, there will be ALOT of lapsed Demons supporters wanting to be members in 2022 though! Seeing Melbourne hopefully win a Premiership on the MCG will be a massive draw card for people!

Sadly, Adam Cerra has nominated Carlton. I think it may have been a pragmatic decision made due to Carlton having the number #6 pick in the 2021 AFL National Draft. Oh well....his loss...time to move on and target someone else to strengthen our team.

About time these wealthy benefactors who barrack for the Demons opened up their wallets! This is why winning is so important! If I was a billionaire I would have already had our home base built! But that's why I am not a billionaire! I am too generous! Anyway, let's hope they build above car park F which makes more sense!

I also agree that Gary Pert as CEO of the Melbourne Football Club was a prudent choice. His 10 years of experience as CEO at Collingwood will pay off. He was there when the Magpies won the flag in 2010 and would know what it takes to help grow the Demons. There will be ALOT of Melbourne supporters buying 2021 Premiership memorabilia! Especially during Christmas! I am going to purchase something for myself and something extra special for my Dad for Christmas to celebrate Melbourne's 57 year drought breaking Premiership.
  14. I am sure for many years some of us were embarrassed to wear our Melbourne Demons gear out in public. Especially after a bad loss! And if we were on the bottom of the ladder. Getting taunted by opposition supporters and laughed at. Even facing very rude insults. Now all that goes away! We are reigning Premiers for 2021! We are now literally bulletproof to any nasty comments. I encourage you all to proudly wear your Melbourne gear or something red annd blue as much as possible! That way all Melbourne supporters can connect if we bump into eachother in public. Time to share the joy of winning our first Premiership since 1964! Remember we are 2021 Premiers! It still hasn't sunk in yet...but..our club....that's right OUR CLUB the Melbourne Demons are Premiers!!!! Wear your Melbourne gear with pride! GO DEMONS!!!!
  15. I would love for @Demonland to eventually arrange an interview with Mark "Choco" Williams on the Demonland podcast maybe, please? Just so we can call in and give our heartfelt thanks to Mark "Choco" Williams for all the amazing work he has done as Head of Development. May his involvement at the Melbourne Football Club continue for many years to come!
  16. I got 2 of the Mark Knight posters for the Melbourne Demons as 2021 Premiers. Was fortunate enough to get them from my local news agency. They look great! I now need to get my WEG posters. I will then need to look around where to get them framed.
  17. It's in one of the post game interviews after the Grand Final. I can't remember if it was on Channel 7 or Fox Footy, sorry.

Adam Cerra must certainly be conflicted with his thoughts. It's a big decision to make for the young player. On the one hand he has the choice of Carlton. A team with a few young talented players and a new coach in Michael Voss. He would become a starting 18 player and be guaranteed senior games each week in the midfield. On the other hand he has the choice of Melbourne. The reigning Premiers. He is apparently friends with Ed Langdon(?) and he could be tempted by the choice of immediate Premiership success. He would need to play his role within the team and earn his spot. But he could end up with a Premiership medallion around his neck in another 12 month's time. That's a pretty amazing opportunity. Not to mention the chance to be part of a Melbourne Demons dynasty. In the end, it all depends how fairly he wants Fremantle to be compensated in a trade. I think the Demons could arrange a fair deal probably involving a future first round pick and maybe a player like Jayden Hunt as a possibility? Anyway, we shall wait and see who Adam Cerra decides to nominate. I am quietly confident that if he wants to win Premierships that he will nominate Melbourne though.
  19. I wanted to say a massive thank you to Mark "Choco" Williams for coming to the Melbourne Football Club. Apparently he said something pretty inspiring to Christian Petracca while he was on the bench when the Grand Final was in the balance. This assisted with turning things around very quickly in the Demons favour. Mark "Choco" Williams has probably been the recruit of the year for the Melbourne Football Club. I cannot sing his praises any higher. I hope that the Melbourne Football Club sign him on for a few more years. He has made a massive impact on our playing group. To think a few years ago no AFL club wanted Mark "Choco" Williams around. He has definitely proved them all wrong! What a legend!
  20. Just thought the Demons could possibly consider chasing Robbie Gray from Port Power? Robbie Gray is still a fantastic player and at least the possibility of him joing the Demons could be looked at maybe? He is currently an unsigned free agent. The main thing that could sway him to join the Demons is that he is originally a Victorian. Port Power did make the Preliminary Final but they got belted by the Bulldogs and he may feel he has a better chance of winning a flag with the Demons. Additionally, he would have had relationships with both Mark "Choco" Williams and Alan Richardson at Port Adelaide which could also work in our favour. Anyway, I am just putting that idea out there.
  21. 6 goals by "Fritta" in an AFL Grand Final is the stuff of legends! He played a fantastic game! He is officially now the most famous person from Coldstream out in the far East of Melbourne!

MFCSS has been cured by Premiership glory! I can't wipe the smile off my face! It is surreal...but yes...the Melbourne Football Club are 2021 Premiers!
  23. I cried my tears of joy. But not as much as I expected I would. Especially after a 74 point smashing of the Bulldogs! We didn't just break our drought of a Premiership, we totally washed away those 57 years of pain and suffering. The history books will now show that the Demons were well and truly deserved Premiers in 2021. The future looks a lot brighter for the Melbourne Football Club.
  24. 13 AFL/VFL Premierships now! No more harping back to 1964. This new team of Demons are making their own history! What a wonderful evening! I think you will see our membership increase significantly for 2022. I admit I cried tears of joy when I spoke to my Dad on the phone after the Grand Final win. The Norm Smith curse has been finally broken! It it time to celebrate and proudly acknowledge that the Melbourne Football Club are reigning Premiers for 2021! We are back where we belong! GO DEMONS!!!
  25. Starting to feel pretty nervous now! Going to do some stuff around the house and then get some food and drinks. Time to fire up!!! GO DEMONS!!!!
