  1. It was a richmond player mate. Enjoy it, but we can laugh at the opposition as well!
  2. Yep, he was super today. Loved his work ethic, and presented hard all game. If he could just get that kicking right, he could have finished Richmond off earlier today.
  3. Are you a moron? He's pumping up the tyres of Rivers, not deflating them. Its the way footy should be, if someone pulls out of a contest then he should be told about it!! Rivers you are a gun.
  4. What a ridiculous thread. Bailey is clearly taking the list in the right direction, what do you expect bjgc? Do you expect Bails to magically re-build the list in 5 minutes? It takes time. You need to be patient with these young players. Knee-jerk reactions are what divides a club, and we cannot afford to go down that path. Jimmy has already publicly backed the direction Dean is taking, which is good enough for me.
  5. Both will go down as absolute legends of this footy club. Whitey has carried the load in the ruck division for nigh on 10 years, and there many a game where he led us to victory. I'll never forget that game against the Bulldogs on a Saturday night at the MCG, where White kicked the winning goal with about 20 seconds to spare. A pure footballer, and in his day, in the top 3 ruckman in the league. Like many, I agree with the sentiment that if that white line had not been introduced, Jeff would still be our number one. Ooze was just a brillaint player at his best. When he was on song, he was impossible to beat. The cry of "ooooze" around the MCG after he kicked a miracle goal or went for a run on the wing, will be missed. Best memory of Adem was the Troy Broadbridge game where he kicked that unbelievable goal on the boundary in the first qtr. Magic stuff. Good luck to them both in their retirements or at their new clubs. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching both of them every step of the way. What pleases me most, and what I think speaks most about their character is the way they have handled this year. They knew what was happening around them, but their professionalism and attitude around the club has been second to none.
  6. No Meesen? After he finally played a good game, he's not there???
  7. 6 - Brad Green 5 - Cale Morton 4 - Paul Wheatley 3 - Cam Bruce 2 - James McDonald 1 - Matty Whelan Apologies to Jones, P. Johnson, Jamar, Miller, Newton, Warnock
  8. As an umpire myself, I know how hard it is to officiate in a game that is so quick, you do need to make split second decisions. That said, umpire Scott McLaren has been performing below par for some time now. In particular, his inconsistency regarding the holding the ball rule is frustrating to say the least. His second report of Dunn on Sunday was laughable. He seems to be a person who carries on a little bit, likes to dramatise things. While I'd like to have a crack at umpiring AFL (I'm one level below at the moment), I'm not sure I could take the heat that they take. I'm also a budding business man, having completed numerous degrees in sports management. I do harbour ambitions to become an influential figure in the AFL one day and you can rest assured that umpiring is one department I hope I can influence one day.
  9. Give the kid a break. All four will play this weekend, albeit not with Melbourne. Cheney will be back for the Sandy reserves, and all of Green, Wheats and Wonna will play against the Dons.
  10. You sure that wasn't Valenti? Because there was one occassion where Valenti [censored] himself when the ball was in the air ... he could have gone for it, but in the end was stranded between a rock and a hard place. Not having a crack at Valenti, I like the kid, I just think you might be confused about Col. Truth be told, I actually thought it was Sylvia at first, but on inspection of the reply, saw it was Valenti.
  11. I'm not sure the weighting does the Demonland POTY justice. If we beat the Eagles by 60 points in a few weeks, whoever is best on ground will become nigh on impossible to beat.
  12. I think if you watch that again, he timed his leap perfectly, but the Kangaroos bloke side stepped because he was aware of the fly .... hence why Col missed him. That said, I do get frustrated with Sylvia, he has more talent in his little finger than the whole team combined.
  13. Brad Green. His game on the weekend says it all. Although I would not be disappointed if Cam Bruce got the gig. He seems to have relished being in the captains role this year. Both are worthy IMO.
  14. I think this is his last year. He has gained alot of respect this year for his work ethic and his willingness to fight for a spot in the team, but there simply is not a place for him in the best 22 anymore. A brilliant servant of the club, but the game has unfortuneately passed him by.
  15. Are you kidding? The bloke is a disgrace to the game of AFL. He can ruck but then butchers the ball when he gets it.
  16. I thought the turn out by Melbourne supporters was embarrassing. A crowd of 27,000 and 20,000 of those would have been Richmond. I felt like we were an interstate team. When are supporters of this club going to come week in week out, instead of just when the club calls for them. I realise it was a poorly timed game, but even so, make an effort, I was home in the Eastern suburbs by 8:00pm and I stayed for the whole match. I refuse to believe that time could be a factor.
  17. **falls off chair** Y_M, I'm happy that you are not quite as deranged as I thought. Takes guts to write that up there. Kudos.
  18. Col Garland was really good today no doubt. I'll be the first to admit that I thought he was a deadset dud earlier this year. Fantastic that he has proved me wrong - really hope he continues to develop at this rate.
  19. He didn't star by any stretch. Was useful in our comeback, but really didn't have an influence on the game. Needs to really stamp himself in this second half of the year. Like I said, he was very good in that third qtr - but he needs to do it every week. Should look at Brock for an example. My votes: 6 - McLean 5 - Garland 4 - Bruce 3 - Green 2 - Miller 1 - Wheatley
  20. Yeah Wheats has had better games. Still played well though. Was pleased to see Bruce back to his classy best today (barring one horrible floater). Green should be captain. Absolutely. Bate - yeah very slow and cannot move off the straight line. Garland was fantastic.
  21. Martin won't play, he's still too raw I think. Other changes are perfect, Bell is just in deplorable form and was bordering on embarrassing today. Bode was actually better than I thought he would be, but still not of the standard of a Whelan or Davey - the two players pushing to return. As much as I rate Carroll as a defender, I'm not sure we need him. Our two key backs in Warnock and Garland at the moment are performing really well. I say let them be. And agree on CJ. How hard does he have to knock on the door to be selected!!
  22. That's actually a pretty decent team. Any wonder we were tipped to do well. You look at it, and really the only weak positions on the ground are the half back line, and the back up ruckman.
  23. Neita, you will not be forgotten at this footy club. The greatest champion to have played in the red & blue, as is proved by your accolades. I will miss the roar of the crowd as you took a big pack mark or kicked one of those superb goals from 60. A real team man who deserved a better finish to his career. Well done big fella.
  24. I remember that game, I think from memory against the Kangaroos. He played a blinder and we all thought we had found a goal sneak. Talk about false hope.
