  1. Hore, Kielty, C Wagner, Stretch in May, Sparrow, out, 2 more out of a group you could throwblanket over ( about 5 others) who would be lucky to hold spots. Hore into the backline, Salem to HB. Kielty backup ruck and 3rd tall forward. Stretch to wing. Wagner as pressure forward. TMac to play high, weids from pocket or square. Trac from pocket or square. Garlett back via Casey.
  2. Contention: until the team can deliver ‘plan A’, There is no use even having a plan B. Evidence. Plan A has not been sighted. Plan B not sighted either. Whenplan A works, we don’t need plan B. When plan A doesn’t work, it’s because we are not delivering plan A. Simples. Plan B is a conspiracy theory.
  3. 2nd youngest side in round 1. Runners Limited on ground. we need a leader on each line, regardless of their ‘title’. Somone who gets the line group together and quarterback’s the play, gives them a rev, reminds them of the task, or whatever. Lewis and Jones and maybe Nev. after that, I’m looking at who is going to stand up and lead. Who will rally others with words and inspire with deeds. Until everyone is 100% on plan A (which we are clearly not) we can’t expect a leaderless team to shift mid game to plan B. Call Brayshaw what you want. I’m Looking for leadership beyond titles to move us forward. Not seeing much of that.
  4. Lewis. Lever. May. Jetta. Gawn in the middle. Bucky the hamster forward (no one else springs to mind). Leadership!
  5. Kielty also getting mentioned in dispatches and may prove an option. weids is normally a ferocious tackler. T Mac maybe start on the wing and play higher, acting as conduit? need good smalls at their feet. This cupboard looks bare.
  6. Think Trac is a ‘cream’ player. When we are going, he will look great. When we are struggling, he’s not the one to dig us out of a hole. We got great meat and two veg men in the middle. When we get our mojo back, he will look the dogs bollocks. Up until then, he will frustrate the hell out of us all.
  7. This tactic has previously been known as ‘rope a dope’, and is the whole basis of Druggies gameplan. On Saturday night we couldn’t slingshot back up the field because we never got near it. Defensively, we were unbelievably bad. Geelong got numbers back, made f50 entries a contest then spread so much harder than us. they let our ability to win the middle ‘rope a dope’ and 80 points later there isn’t too much glory in either of our arcs.
  8. I could see us making a few changes. May out, possibly Petty to come in. I think playing May in the intercept role was not ideal. Petty would serve us better. I would think Omac is at risk. I could see Stretch coming in, and playing a wing or half forward role. There is a long list of people he would replace, ANB, Sparrow being possibles. We need our half forwards to really lock down their half backs, as we see at the moment, with no lock in, the Bummers run and gun will cut us open. Hunt in a defensive role of Saad could also work. Set KK back to half back. Lets see what he has. If we had him and Salem quarterbacking with better 1:1 defense behind them, the backline would start to shape up nicely. We need a genuine crumber /small forward. Maybe this is where we put Lockhart, or use him as a lockdown half forward. I loved the way he slammed Selwood several times. Not sure who else we can look at with Jeffy out. DId Spargo do enough?? We went too tall into a wet game. Friday night looks dry (27 during the day). We could certainly look at Keitly for a debut as ruck support/forward, as I doona think Preuss does enough around the ground to make the squad yet.
  9. Did you notice that in the Goody presser the tooth rotting drink was rotated so that ‘Gary Ablett’ was visible, in front of Goody, the whole time? I wonder if that was accidental, or some Cats supporting Nuffie setting up the room?? Otherwise, Goody sounded measured, and is talking the long game. Lets see what he can deliver. I think we lost it at selection. We are not balanced, and have almost zero zip where we need it. Too many out of form, and rushing (which flows on into making everyone else rush). If we bomb it versus the bombers, they can get us.
  10. The umpires weren’t looking at us, so even Clarrie will be lucky to get votes with 44 touches and 12 clearances. It will be all ‘danger!’
  11. We look like we slog and have no ‘spark’. It is almost like we are scared, not bold. It is a terrible start. There are about 6 players that did well. The rest...not so much. Our approach to using the ball inside 50 was a disgrace. We need a crumbing forward, and players who will run and support. We also need to hit up targets. If we can turn at 3:3, we can run that to 5:3 and be back on track. Last year we had a couple of horrendous losses, and we turned it around. I hope we can do it this year. We have several major problems to fix.
  12. The Umpires have nearly been as bad as we have
  13. Danger did not touch that - its a free umpire!
  14. We are all slog and no spark
  15. Without Oliver we are 10 goals down. Not knocked off my feet by May and KK yet... Trac ....!!! Viney looking better. Terrible in the front half
  16. Working hard, but allowing them too much space, not skilful enough, and i50s are a disaster. Did you see the Selwood duck and arm throw rewarded? Sheesh
  17. Some thoughts before the bounce: Last week, Gawn was down, and the midfield was down. We kicked poorly to targets forward of centre, and struggled to run back or run outside to cover Power players. The defenders were on a hiding to nothing, and didn’t cover themselves in glory. The 666 setup favours teams who can win the clearance and deliver well into 50. Last week, what should have been our strength, was a massive weakness. If we can turn this around with max and the centre square team winning, or at least halving contests, and then using the ball well, we are in with a red hot chance. The team needs to get back to two way running and not all getting sucked into the contest, then stand back and watch the opposition run off and away in overlap. If we could learn anything from Richmond Vs Collingwood, then ball control and winning each contest is vital to success. Chaos ball can only serve us if we can get to and win way more contests than we lose. We need to be aware that the umpires will play home ground advantage, and with Dangerblabberwood, we are sure to get a few howlers against. We need to keep our cool and crack in. I worry that Viney and Jones wont be able to go the distance... If we show up, Dees by 26 points.
  18. Your guess is as good as Christian’s...
  19. This guy is a bilge pumper. Likes to be Mr Headline. He is right that we have to take responsibility for how we played it, but he is wrong that asking for guidance on where the ‘line’ is should be considered whinging. If what Port did is OK, then I would give Paddy Ryder a total workover next time we meet. Mr May is just the man for the job. Gawn had no mates, and this really underscores I think the biggest issue of the whole day. There seemed to be no cohesion in the group, they did not play for each other or do team first actions. We got what we deserved for doing so. Kane Corn (holer) will find something else to dump on next week, and his Port Power affiliations are too strong to discount in his coverage.
  20. 20 seconds to go, 40 metres out, 3 points down. Who do you want kicking it? Jones, Petracca, Gawn, Spargo, ?? Chunk has delivered captain’s goals, and will again. This was a bad mistake, and I imagine he recognises it. However, he has a lot to offer. The issue may be that it is either him or Lewis for the HB role, as he has probably been superseded in the midfield (except for a few chunky rotations..).
  21. His intro song is ‘Tainted love’ by soft cell.
  22. How was he even selected for the post? Perhaps a former umpire would have been better than a [censored] ex filth [censored]. Or even a lawyer. In fact, get Gobbo on the go. She can do defence as well as prosecute. Seriously, going ‘lenient’ when it suits him shows the weakness of character of the man. Consistency is what matters with a process such as the one he runs. Not according to his whims.
  23. Darcy Moore has a face like a dirty cheese board.
  24. Hard to get excited with that dross. Watching us miss easy marks, get left flat footed, kick to opposition defenders time and again? Not score for a whole quarter? perhaps if they gave us even the remotest thing to cheer....
  25. We also had something weird going on, with TMac on the bench for 11 minutes at one stage. Thought he was injured, then he bobbed up in the ruck. Strange?.?..?
