I was at the game because I could, and I wanted to say my thanks to Brad Green who I have enjoyed watching for many years. I understand others couldn't make it. 4:40 on a Sunday is a shocking time to schedule. I understand that others couldn't have made 2:15 on a Saturday if they played it then. Life is like that. Everyone has a choice. I hope what we have in common is a love for the Dees and a desire to see them at the top again, playing great winning footy. I'm sticking with them. They are my team. Jump off if you want. That is your choice. See you at the footy next year.

If we were a racehorse after today we should be shot. God, please make 2013 better than 2012.....

He had a chat at the pre game in the Lindsay Hassett room. Soft interview, but no sign of dissent.

A Brave Neeld World ... Some signs of life are emerging
buck_nekkid replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
I saw more that gives promise than not. You can either believe that we are heading in the right direction or we are doomed, that is your choice. We are still playing some bad, over possession low confidence football. But there are indeed glimmers of hope. In a group of players with such low levels of experience, and especially playing together so rarely as a core group, I took a lot from what I saw. Are we there yet? No. Are we on the path? I really think so. -
Kevin Sheedy and his resentment towards the Demons
buck_nekkid replied to Ouch!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
Sheedy is a media tart. What a great way to deflect the fact that his team has lost by massive margins every week, the players they spent large coin on are not delivering and there are bigger crowds at the opening of a pizza box. Sorry Sheeds, get over yourself. Unless you have a time machine, it is OVER. Get it? Or do I need to publish something in the Seniors magazine? Maybe if you focused less on the media and more on the Lesser Blacktown Rabble maybe you, too, could get some results. And if you believe that you had the upper hand in any multi-candidate interview process, you really are an egotistical [censored] -
In a team shredded by injuries, Bate gets dropped?? Isn't there a bye for Casey this week (??). Don't know, but he is going to have to get bitten by a radioactive spider or something (ranga-man) to be on the list if he can't hold his place in that side.

A glass half empty is still a glass. I suppose Swan is slow. Judd lacks acceleration. D Martin has off field issues. Do they also have positives? Yes. I wonder how much we have to kick the list before they turn into the team of the century. I wonder if anyone at the club knows the status of our players?

And this is the perfect season for it to happen. From here, the number of wins is cosmetic. If they need to be rested, operated on or retrained then now is the perfect time. Finishing bottom three won't be 'tanking' but the result of what happened this year. Get well soon, Flash, and refind your magic.

It may only take the addition of 1-3 quality players to make these guys look so much better. The best teams have a couple of aces that make otherwise middle of the road players look good ( enough ). I think these guys will be stuffed into the cannon based on roles and fit. That said, any or all of these guys could be gone.

2 1/2 quarters of footy is not enough against a top side. However: 1. When we played, we competed. 2. There were some positive upsides in the way we spread, and scored >10 goals. We still have some gaping holes (midfield, small forward, rucking to advantage). I went away neither totally satisfied, or totally despondent. So many players just need to give 10% more, in quality and effort for this to start to look like something that can win on a regular basis.
-
We will need to break the 10 goal barrier to win in the dry. So far this has been beyond us. As defensive as we play, we need to now start enhancing our attack if we want more than a sniff of the chocolates. I think we have the capability, but it is definitely a next step for the squad.

Thanks for the report. Appreciate it. Any other insights greatly appreciated as well!

Get ready for the pain this week v Ess.
buck_nekkid replied to Total-Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Easenscum can kick 10 in a quarter. We can't manage 10 in a game ( in fact it nearly takes us two games!) We might drag them back to our level for a while, but to win, we have to kick a score. Unfortunately for all of their effort, the Dees have no idea how to do this at the moment. I would love to beat them, but then I wake up. -
Out: Jamar. Nothing to advantage and nothing around the ground. Fitzpatrick in Out : Green. In Bate to play midfield Maloney- put him on the wing for a week or two to get some flow and run. He should be the go to channel to kick inside 50 to targets. Sylvia: in the guts. No excuses, 100% effort only

Must Read Opinion Piece for all Demon Fans
buck_nekkid replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
A welcome band-aid on the media haemhorrage this week. I think most would agree that the players are the ones under the real spotlight. It might be time to agree that Neelds job is to fix the wreck first, then build something. I had expectations of something better in 2012, but the current facts show my expectations were off. I have sadly readjusted them. -
We have heard about Mark Neeld not being psych tested, and therefore we made a mistake in hiring him. If you want to hang onto your wrath and all of the BS look away now. Because the truth about psych tests: They are a poor predictor of performance They only demonstrate preferences, not traits They are contextual- the results relate to the context of the testing situation They are better used for development than hiring There are much better ways to select the right candidate than psych testing. This whole story arc is just another chance for people to sink the boots in.

We are completely underperforming, the ratings, even if we discuss the finer points are damning. But what is causing it? Where are the truths so we can sharpen the right knives? So far all I hear is claim, counterclaim and innuendo. Are there any real issues or are we just simply [censored] and blaming and trying to find excuses? I want to know who needs sanctioning, and why. Until this happens, 'he said, she said' will allow the culprits to hide. This is no longer acceptable.
-
True WYL. They don't. They are the outcome of something. I would love to start seeing facts rather than innuendo. In fact, we all deserve it. Then we can really bring the blow torch to bear and start the job of fixing what is on those scoreboards. Otherwise we just chase BS and the culprits aren't held to account.
-
OK, I have heard so much. But what is TRUE? What are the facts? It seems there have been a lot said about the senior players and others in the club. What are the FACTS? If any of what has been said is true, then crucifixion is too good for them. But before I rush down to Bunnings for hammer and nails, can someone point me in the direction of something which is not innuendo, rumour or second hand water-cooler gossip? We have a reason to be Pxxxed off right now, but all I have heard is BS from commentators and innuendo. Can anyone point me to evidence?

Watching the first three games, I see some things that are 'improving', but my GOD - we are so far back it is not funny. If you completely delete the third quarter, we were OK. Where the hell did you go, Demons? Problems from my perspective: ZERO confidence. Players get the ball and crap themselves, even with no pressure. Turn it over. Zero quality between the arcs. We have no-one running and working between the arcs. We could have Peter Hudson, Jason DUnstall and BIlly Bennett in the forward 50 and we would still have the problems we are having. Quality across the middle and half forward is completely lacking. Zero ability to stick a tackle. If I was coaching against the Dees, I would instruct my players to 'take them on'. Tackling efficiency and effectiveness is appalling. Top for today for us - 5 tackles. Tuck on their side had TEN. A ruckman (Russian) who panics and handballs the footy regardless whatever the hell is going on. A lot of tapwork that is useless. Poor clearance skills. Inability to overlap, run and provide options. (Give the boundary line a demons jumper, it racks up enough stats!). I dont know what will turn this around - we first need to play 4 quarters. We need to contest. We need to run BOTH WAYS because we must. We need to get the midfield sorted. Otherwise, this crap will continue. Post match or post apocalypse???

So based upon the OP, there are a lot of assumptions and judgements made about me. Im lazy, incompetent, and need to be taken down a peg or two. E45 just gets angry because someone posts a question asking for some help (strange reason to get angry). Others dont like my language. I guess (was going to assume, but that might have upset someone) that Jim and Don are not the operational managers - no one has been able to connect me to anyone in the ops side of the organisation, so I will use other means. Merry Christmas - and E45, See you next time.
-
Thank you. I was hoping that someone in the community would have a deeper insight into a specific name and direct contact. Rather than being 'lazy' and attempting to annoy people, my aim was to use an established community and network to simplify a deeper search process and connect directly to an individual, rather than the front page of an organisation. Given modern networking and business principles, this is a highly effective and simple approach. Often, people who do not answer the actual question are quite happy to let it slide by and allow others to provide appropriate information, to support others in their community. Sometimes, people need to express themselves on any topic and engage regardless of the level of their value add. This often speaks to other issues that they are dealing with. Merry Christmas to all, and go Dees in 11.

I am recently returned from a stint overseas, and am settling back into Melbourne. One of the things I am keen to do is get involved in community service. As my skills are corporate coaching/mentoring, training, presentation skills etc, I thought the Reach Foundation could benefit from some of my skills. Helping young people get ahead in these areas would be great. Does anyone have any info on who I should contact, and their details? Cheers.

Did anyone notice that we kicked the lowest score of any team at the weekend? No-one should really be surprised after what happened on the park. We seriously need to work on our delivery.

Congratulations on the outstanding list management. I look at the rookie list and think that we have the possibility of 'elevating rookies' of some potential quality (McKenzie, Spencer) if the draft pickings are slim in 2010, the GC eating up many of the early picks. This was excellent forward planning, and well done to the boys to see that this was the option that would serve them and the the team the best. Good luck to Meesen and Newton. The boot is really on your necks, now. Time to step up, or step off. Roll on 2010!!!! Go Dees!!!
