There comes the notion of the "nature of the beast" Maurie i didnt misconstrue your intent ( too much ) i just dont abide by the idea its an overall reality. I would understand that in mnay regards footy clubs have indeed moved with the times but I think youd find that many the front side of the business will do this in the main. By its very nature the engine room is a boys-world domain. Here in lays a a world of rucking antlers and pumping testosterone. Highly primed to go out and physically demand contact and endurance of pain. These are not the typical assetts of the workplace that most deal with. The typical team comprises a list of 44 blokes ranging invariably from 17/18 to 30-ish. There will only be a handful near the top age end these days and only as many in the 25-27 cat as well id suspect. So in the main most are in the sub 25 age group. Im all for educating them as to the requirements of a decent person in general society, to observe respect for the fairer sex, to treat all as equals ( though often many dont deserve it ) to observe laws and generally carry out their lives as useful to their fellow man as possible. But a reality is these are 'charged' personality types. They live in a bubble. their lives are NOT normal. The parameters they strive to meet are not common to the general populace. They invariably communicate to each other via the 'acquired name syndrome" , many of which in themselves would contravene PC ettiquettes Im sure. These lads are geared to go out and work in a harmful place of contest. No, I dont want anyone with namby pamby tendencies or orientations there at all. FMD..I reckon if Williams was to coach us and Harry O be on the list hed probably object to his boss being referred to as Choco !! As Robbo ( HS) suggests Harry might just need to pull his head in.. I concur

I think it requires investigation before condemnation might suggest it to my local coffee haunt as a new selection,. Will report back it it manifests

Actually..... you can Banana and Carrot Cake

ethics Maurie... you may wish to fully investigate Harry's circumstances before offering such sage advice. he is a hypocrytical self serving voice of his own accord by many a report.. You either buy into his personal advocacies or your apparently labeled this and that. The point about certain workplace environments is they can often require to be more focussed on the job at hand than taking offence to the mearest barbs. .Its called life. These and sports are not decorated with cotton wool. These and sports clubs are more often than not filled with more than a handful of larger than life types who's banter is often a bit ripe and occasionally niggly.. Its what it is. No amount of OH & S , anti discrimination or anti vilification will ever stop one bloke from taking the [censored] out of others. Sportsmen by nature are ultra competitive, things are always pushed to the brink. Even within the same club not all will be on the exact same page, there will be competition for spots as well as how they or anyone appears on the pecking order. Then we come back to a simple notion often spotted . Some give it but dont take it as well . Harry O is starting to sound like one who" Does protest too much !!" Hes a pretty handy footballer but seriously strikes me as a [censored]

Been on an oil rig or building worksite Maurie ? they dont often embrace the concept of the "namby pamby" Like it or not theres more than a little bit of testosterone in a footy club. Lots of silly pranks and pecking orders. Thats life.. Harry ought to just suck it in !! ( and I'll leave it at that !! ) Im not trying to invoke Ogre-nomics as being the only or correct, just suggesting some of these players are trying to invoke their own ideas of "perfect societies" About as logical an idea as iceblocks in ovens

anyone instead of Nicholson

Do we get the gum ? Pretty much the matter of things.. Sylvia is only worth what we get if in terms of exchange. Otherwise a keep... all in all hes not that important , just another brick in the wall, though a self running brick often and not always a wall player.

Honestly give me a break. I will NOT acknowledge this is a normal type office workplace. You are dealing with egos pampered at every turn. Ambassadors for this.;. wankkers for that. We are talking a highly charged environment for those who are often self appointed this or that. FMD theres a thing called a sense of humour...some have no skin let alone thin and wish this zero tolerance of the human condition enforced upon others.
-
Bossdog, is it the flavour of bananas or the taste/texture you cant abide to ?
-
I think its somewhat funny. The environment by design is that of controlled gladiatorial sporting combat, but th ePC police want a nancy kindergarten overlay. its hilarious. Into this you introduce highly egostistical types . Some have overly highly inflated ideas of their importance to life in general. Please dont suggest an AFL or any top flight sporting club is a normal work place.

as long as its on Tellie and not for a job !!!
-
am so ambivalent about this guy.Hes not top shelf ; he ought to be. We need x players. Offer him reasonable conditions but not overboard . Not that fussed
-
He does sound a bit high maintenance to me Do we a vacancy for a prima dona ?

Sue , I think its a case of Roos or someone. If its Roos then he only need say yes. There would be no there interview or process. Its his for the taking. Ask Vlad, they dont meddle in things!! They dont appoint anoint or such They just have "influence" He has already been "blessed" If we need the money for Saint Paul then the Footy gods will provide. Anyone else will be interviewed and selected , they dont have a Golden Ticket !! and this goes to the point of difference. This is an indicator of direction.

My learned fellow supporter 55 notes another incidence of what is or isnt. This is very much a case of shuffle deckchairs in a manner. PJ has the job of assembling a rejigged FD and delivering a new board with Chairman to boot. Thats a reasonably straight forward issue. Not easy but no 2nd or 3rd games being played out. As 55 notes in order for a coach to be appointed it would require a selection panel to be created except should Roos accept. So it surprises this viewer not one iota that this hasnt been done with any haste. The club has to be careful it doesnt paint itself into a corner. If Roos was to flat out reject the notion I think you would find a coaching selection panel materialise all but overnight. Until then its not only not required but it would be an impediment as it forces hands, and does so way too early. Plausible deniability is the tool of trade with much of this. All parties need to be able to explain either their indifference or the lack of action in certain regards. To date PJ is playing our cards well. Most other parties arent showing too much either. Those that seek Roos . Be heartened there's no movement towards a panel ( just yet ) . A panel when announced ( if ) will signal Roo's disenfranchisement with coming to the Dees

I love a good Agathie Christie plot. Hercule might be uttering " Hastings, those little grey cells, they are but piqued ne c'est pas ??" Like a good thriller there often seems little of not happening in the open. . Most skullduggery by its very nature happens in the shadows and out of the way of prying eyes. There must quite a bit happening behind the scenes and I would be amongst the first gobsmacked if it were plain to view currently. its a bit like calling an election so far out. You know when things will happen but your somewhat hamstrung to invoke influence too early. All you can really do is watch and observe, take note of what IS and what ISNT. What I note. PJ has indeed called Roos. Thats an ice breaker. Roos by all accounts hasnt flat out said NO. He could have and then we wouldnt be in this thread any longer discussing him ( PR ) Why hasnt he said no. Two fold for mine. 1) he doesnt have to now, even if he may later. Leaves door open 2 )He may be a tad curious and interested but why say yes now when all and sundry may bring more toys to the table if thats what the "co conspirators " wish to happen. In others words Roos is simply keeping his powder dry. Then again theres what is seen publicly and theres the world behind closed doors, third parties and gobetweens. We have cagey Craig keeping options open. Fear not fellow Demons you can bet London to a brick that someone who knows someone has had a beer or coffee with both Williams and Eade sounding them out. To do anything more would be "improper" and harder to deny. The League will care nothing for its own rules here as theres a bigger pie to bake. But if we can do things with panache, with discretion , then that would be for the better . Due to commitments I wont get to any more Casey games and unlikely to travel for a Melbourne one now but Id love to scan the stands in future days at Melbourne/Scorps games for any tell tale signs of "associate' turning up where before they hadnt. Maybe might get a peak at the Dockers and Doggies games There is always that fun game of who ISNT doing something and in this regard we look to those players or FD personnel who wouldnt normally have any reason not to do the obvious. The danger here is that more often than not its for nothing more than postulation come the contract table. However in amongst this will be genuine cases of subtefuge hoping their actions are camouflaged by the larger chaos of sing/not-sign etc. This is fun to watch> Not so much a "who's dunnit" as a "who's going to do it " The Thick plottens !!

Im not sure , nor care (in a way ) how many games we win other than a win is a win ( and rare ) Im more interested in the method and style of playing. The endeavour and backbone etc This is a game of dont blink.I dont really expect anyone too either though the media ought to be growling louder as things go on.. Despite any public denials and supposed apathy towards the position he would have been glued to the box yesterday. (he wouldnt be silly to show a face at a game lol ) To do or dont for Roos is about the interest and challenge . It might just be getting more interesting ( to him if no one else )

taking up a strawman stance ?We are talking about drugs in that realm..
-
Gentlemen please take your T$ convo to a more appropriate thread.

Its laughable that Essendon would even contemplate arguing the validity of a drug being banned . If WADA ban it its banned . Its not an inclusive think quest !! Lol
