  1. Goschs is effectively by a road in the middle of nowhere. Yarra Park IS the MCG...the home of Football....our home. Despite only being a kilometre or so apart they are worlds apart. Only a diehard D will ever go to Goschs....no one else cares or knows. Family day is often at Luna Park or somewhere kiddy friendly. The club obviously dont think that much of Goschs either. There's no sense of belonging...on the south side of swan st.
  2. The location of the training base is irrelevant to just about every point youve chosen to go with regarding this topic. Its a choice of locale to do a job and speak to the clubs heritage and bithplace. Ppl dont follow a club because of where it trains...not as such. Jolimont IS a pretty accessible place. There are more points of travel embarkation than that that might access the world at Richmond alone. A home for the club is for the entirety of the club...admin and Football . As to the idea of recognition there could be generations that grow up noticing a football club next to the G...not of yellow and black lineage but flying a Red and Blue flag right next to the home of footy. Would never happen across the road.

Something , i at least , always keep in mind with CW is she has deep family links across this game. She feels the 'wronging' that's supposedly been endured and whenever possible has a sly dig in retaliation. Its a shame as she does often have an interesting insight. I just find myself often questioning her motive or cause celebre.

She can be such a nasty vile thing at times
  5. havent seen a min of this blokes game but the reviews etc suggest he might well grow into a KPB ..He HAS the physical attributes where as neither Lever or Pig are geared that way. If Lever can be re-released back to what he does super well then we might be getting somewhere
  6. Be very VERY surprised if this lad goes anywhere. Too important to Collingwood's list...too important to their brand etc The argy bargy of 'negotiation' will eventually come to a ...dare I say....happy ending. North and Aints will STRUGGLE to land anyone...to many other BETTER destinations out there.
  7. anything above tracks is a curiosity of sorts.. reminds me a little of how it works in China where NO ONE owns the land but they might own whats on it...and have the right by a lease to have it there. My understanding is you can buy air space but NOT above tracks...there it is a lease...invariably 99 years. The chattels are yours in the normal commercial manner...so YOU reap any benefit other than the outgoing of the air-lease This is NO reason not to consider this scenario.
  8. We win at Etihad.... recovery a tad better too
  9. A question...to all and any. If this were the case then EVERY team above us will have beaten us. They will have done so because they nullified out "game" and played theirs. We have NO plan/game B Why would anyone presume any success ? Its just a question. I think a valid one. Do some subscribe to different outcomes for same scenarios ? Einstein had a thought about that ?
  10. The man knows how to handle a club....
  11. Hope some of you chaps and chappettes are right otherwise a somber sept awaits... A little over that
  12. Taking a positive view ... it's an opportunity to rejig that areavof the park. Possibly make less restrictively formal in setout...introduce a copse or two...really green it up. Currently the swathes of carpark lawn are mundane and underutilised.
  13. Im curious .. perhaps surprised ...how many gloss over the game against Freo in Darwin. This looms . We have had stuff all success there. Freo do well. Dockers travelling sort of OK...bit under the Radar. This might be where we stumble.. and stumble badly.
  14. Another thought....put car parking under the new oval. Why use valuable leasable/ usable building space ?
  15. As part of the beautification and making the new oval meld into its hosting environs plant lots of trees of suitable types to encircle the grassed surface...giving the new ground a permanent image of being guarded and watched simultaneously. How many trees got knocked for Tennis ? Its not like theyd need to take out that many. The new ' Forrest' will compensate
  16. We share aami Its notlike we can use it whenever the lads want. This has at time needed players to find their own facilities to do out of session work. NOT under the watch of our med/fitness guts. Amateur hour really. Time to leave motel8 for the Hilton
  17. A very fav film btw Im sure folk will find the place without too much difficulty... It'll be right next to some other ground of note ?
  18. This to me is indicative of our culture...the idea that playing finals is an achievement. It's not really....it's an opportunity...an avenue to an Achievement. Playing a GF is an Achievement...winning it an even bigger/ better one. Playing finals is a means to an end only. No one cares who comes 2nd 3rd etc.
  19. Imho the MFC will and should care less about pandering to the whim of a few hundred occasional spectators. Thats not how you go about a business case for the establishment of a world class facility thats 99% about use by and of a club, its admin, players and coaches. Its about what provides the best outcome for the club in the manner IT will use it.
  20. Thats us ?
  21. Its a good point. Where do other teams find it ? Its not like theres a 'shop' on the high street !!
  22. Im not fussed about games against Saints or Suns. The test is the three against Eagles, Cats and Crows. They will all be like the Port game. Fast , furious, pressure... parochial crowd..on three of the worst away venues. I can just imagine the umpiring ? Sydney will be very interesting. At least its the G... Then we have the annoyance of snipers. All of Dockers, Dogs and Giants will want a scalp. We cant lose any if we are to go anywhere into Sept. The Saints and Suns will too...just no ammo for them to do so imho. Good teams find a way home under the gravest of conditions. We don't (yet ) We struggle...and lose Unless Goody gives the lads a different/better roadmap i can't see anything changing ( why would it ) 6 wins is the minimum if we are to be fair dinkum.
  23. Yes Port did prime themselves...well...did some homework. As will everyone else we'll play. Itll all be same same but different. If we dont account for the likes of Geelong, Sydney, Weagles going into finals what makes anyone confident of taking the loliies off them in then ?
  24. You're not going to get much closer to the Top end of Town....than Yarra Park. Location.. location..and opportunities.
  25. Maybe i have a different take than some: Many seem locked into the mathematical semantics of making the 8. For mine that's somewhat irrelevant..that is...just making the 8. Our 9 game run home sees us up against 4 teams that all but will be in the 8 and 2 ( maybe 3 ) that might upset us by looking for a scalp. Its not enough to make the 8. You have to be there with menace. You have to be relevant and not a stocking stuffer. If we don't win 6 of the next we wont be in any shape, gamewise or momentum to do much more than spectate. Much work ahead...any more injury ( of note ) and a wheel will come off our little red and blue wagon. The games against Richmond , Collingwood and Port reminded me of finals in so much as its PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE. 3 times ...for no wins I wont be keeping September free.
