to me thwere are basically two types of midfielders...those that go in and get the ball..and those to whom its given to to deliver forward..thats Greeny's role I think.. to recieve and move. . No one really plays on the wing or flank so much any more...players just gravitate there as the bal ldoes its "thing ".

I wouldnt say negligible. ...just not what it was. Id prefer someone EARN the captaincy...not just have it because Neeta's getting on. let him put it to his minions.. "who amongst you doth covet the mantel, who amongst you shall rise to meet the honour, expectations and delivery ? " it will sort itself out. I can see no point double fisting this position. Let Neeta be it and hand it over to the annointed..who wil carve out his own history. Termination date ? end of season 2008... simple as that.

he's an outside midfielder.. ( with plenty of courage ). he needs some space. He plays the link man to perfection..leave him there.

yep...absolutely.. Comes with direction and coaching etc. Add this string to his bow and Beamer going forward is going to cause ulcers for the opposition ; what a shame !!!

His halycon days are definitely behind him. But he can provide I must admit enormous motivational and mentorship like qualities. no one is saying he was/is the comensurate footballer. But what he has we sorely miss. his game would evolve with more time.. better play options up forward and a new coaching regime. His injuries have prevented him obviously from progressing. Love to see him back on the park !!

well Old...you'll certainly strike a few nerves here ..lol.. but am sure you'l expect that. I cant totally disagree with al lof that. But it now comes to a timing issue. it might have made sense to announce it beofr ethe last game this season and so reap the deserved accolades. I coulndt agree more that we have at times become far to Neeta-centric in going forward. The predictability made defending tad easier for the opposition i feel. when he was out the forward thrusts were more varied , just for the moment very unploished and unpracticed it loked. these inprove with time and mid week efforts of course. Im going to suggest there may be actually one last thing for him to do and thats the role of a true leader: TRANSITION !! I have no doubt this is his swansong year. As the boys all look up to its now to him that the job of handing over will fall....to whomever is annointed. Maybe he just sets the scene without any one person in particular but lays the road etc. I would hope he would still play most of the coming season. History suggests he wont; he's but one more serious injury from calling it a day. I agree a new look and style is needed and he ought to retire but i'm ok if he has a crack next year. He may find that the preseason actually does either of two things.. does wonders..or cements his course in cement. Keep in mind we often dont do things logically at Melbourne

I rate him too.. highly. would be marvellous to see the three Amigos ( McLean, Moloney and Jones ) do some damage in the name of the Red and Blue !!!! the oppositions wont know which way to look or go !! ( but Im biased too )

I have no problem with him coming back slowly...if he can come back. If good and prudent management can get him back on the track oand on the turf in a manner where he can continue to contribute in his wonderful way.. "halelujah " my concern is he may not be able to overcome his OP etc. basically rendering him a non-starter. If so its only reasonable to assume he wont be playing footy...anywhere. if there's a god after the judas debacle, then we deserve Beamer back

Keep in mind...its a job...and in many ways very unfair restraints are being placed upon these careers. You cant stick your head in the sand and pretend there arent needs and issues yet to be dealt with.

Id suggest if he cant get fully fit with us then he has no trade value and thats it...career over Am hoping he can overcome it.. love watching him carve through the guts. if not fit.. he'll need to be delisted.. just a reality

Who say we adopt all the restictions or clauses of the NBA ? is that entrenched in stone somewhere ? NO I would imagine like anything you look around at all best practices currently on offer ( and any suggestions made by those concerns to improve it ) and take on board the best elements and concoct your own Free Agency agenda. Please, Im not endeavoring to be mischeivious in this thread ,just genuinely inerested. I really like this bloke when he plays. He's no nonsense, knows where to 1) get the ball 2) what to do with it. He delivers into the forward line with such explosion and then there's the dreaded OP. It just worries me that even if we can get him somewhat fit , will we be able to get him match fit and if so how long will it last. And all that is purely form a standpoint of what we ( as a club ) get out of him but at what expense ? I really hate to think it would have much longer term ramifications to hs general health. Id love to see Beamer rip it up for us. Between say Him, a switched on Brocky and Jonesy.. we have one formidable clearance machine. I just have this sick gut feeling we wont see Beamer again and if a hard decision needs to be made , one that values him as a person as well as any potential contributions then it s better sooner rather than later so if theres any real knowledge of where he's at.. am sure we'd all appreciate it cheers

this is indeed the irony...its not actually that many are saying he's bad.. Just undeperforms to his ability. He has indeed played some stellar games.. but seldom teh whole season. He is/was respected in the club for his high ability and its this that he was paid hansomely for. So how would you feel to be shelling out for a Beemer..only to get a falcon most of the time.. ?/ A little underwhelmed perhaps ?? Nothing wrong with Falcons btw ( i have one..lol ) but its not what we're expecting is it ?
