The caveat is this isnt a normal year.., neither will the next couple. We may not get to choose any new rookies if Meesen and Newton's contracts are honoured in tact. The natures of Daw's prospects also doesnt necessarily come along every year. The nature of this years( and subsequent) draft will force the hand of a number of clubs. Daws currency will rise dramatically as a result. I agree wholeheartedly that he is very mucha raw project style of player... but just cant shake the notion he could really be something. Be fantastic if that something was at Melbourne Given the bank of talent already at Melbourne yet to be fully realised together with the known entities about to join i just feel we can set about this draft in a manner that suits us and disregard where certain players may have normaly gone if a normal year and more even spread of picks .

the trip isnt so much about coaching...if at all. Its about how various clubs and entities go about building their following ( brand ) how some succeed whilst in close proximity. How various sporting codes and organisations involve the communities and its supporters. What makes them tick...and not only tick but tick well.. This club ( MFC ) is looking to become absolute solid. it needs to understand upon what foundations you build such an edifice. Some work has already been done in this regard. The club knows that much more is needed and that there is a great deal of valuable insight out in the world...just requires you to go looking

You need the high draft picks before you can develop them !! Maelbourne is about Melbourne...not just one player here or there. Robertson has been a stalwart champion of the club...hes also been a lazy, self centred player at times too...quid pro quo !! Bailey has actually gone about doing that...developing a winning culture.. Its not magically made over night. You need to instill into your team teh understanding of what it takes to get there. A little pain if you will. Dont ever use Carlton and Melbourne in the same sentence in he context of poor culture if you wish to be taken seriously here. They are reaping as they have sown. We observe a different horticultural standard/

The next person who even mentions the notion of priority picks going forward.....shoot them !! Weve done what we needed.. Now its time to reap. For all intents and purposes there will be NO more priority picks.. Both GC and GWS get their 'gitfs' compromising the drafts ( and suspending the priority's ) Have no dout they wont come back...just quietly slip into history.

umm..what exactly is soft about this club now ?? We expel players who cant be up front and pledge loyalty. We ...call it what you like.. Tanked..and defied the world to do anything.. We are Melbourne...we have a singular destination and we understand ( now ) what it takes to get there. .Ruthless determination and we dont take prisoners. Im thinking its not that were soft that might shy a few...its that were nOT !! It probably came as a rude shock to a few players that it was about where the CLUB needed to go and not them as individuals.
