well...youd have to think theyd be just as disppointed as we are excited...its called the human condition. having said that.. couldnt care less about the crows...GO DEES !!!
-
bingo...glad someone has the nous to ask this
-
many will be excited as its all but a slam dunk youd expect that Jack will line up for our glorious Dees in the years ahead and thats a tremendous pickup but Im just as if not more excited about the wealth of knowledge this guy ( Todd) will bring to the club. For sure he wont be our midfield coach but youd have to think that any coach with an ounce of brains would mine him for all its worth. Bloody hell our FD has grown some...they could just about field a team by themselves now.. My how things have changed ( for the better ) at Melbourne

Well !!! Amazing and welcome news how good is this Welcome back Todd ... Good to see you Jack .... I mean back

Collingwood has been dragging it's feet re Cloke for a while ( 3 months according to some media) They have history of buggering him around hence the acrinomy. Cloke will easily get 3 years if enters the draft. It mightn't look clever or astute of the Clokes but he'll better his current offer from the filth whether with them or elsewhere. Sellers market

Will the dees give Cheney a run in China?
beelzebub replied to Deemolition Man's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's not. Mfc and hfc agree he'll not only not play but will return soon . How soon ? Unsure, Spose well know when he does (return) -
Well if he gets his lad more money , longer contract and a better level of dealings then he's not such an idiot. The filth have shown themselves very shrewd and adept , for the most part, so any besting of them is no mean feat !! Hardly idiotic ?

Will the dees give Cheney a run in China?

Ahhhh lol ... All makes sense if I heard correctly Pelchen suggested he'd be coming back this weekend after being given a few days to enjoy himself. A bit of common sense in action there. -

I didnt say he would.. did I?? I said it would be illogical if he did. Why he is even there now is the curiosity. Must feel 125% awkward -

It would be totally illogical for him to play. This trip is all about bonding. Providing the next 10 year group with a foundational experience upon which to build and remember. Kyle isnt part of that. He is not a Demon, hes a Hawk...and really has no place being there now. Best he gets on with his new footy direction..and us with ours with the players that matter. Not meant to be nasty ...just reality -
yep..his kicking is this side of attrocious really. Still amazes me anyone at AFL level cant kick decently But...he could be coached to kick better. His other attributes are just inherent...you either have them or you dont......and he does

very very smart by GC... This club has really surprised the world as to its intelligent and relentless pursuit of making itself competitive from the get go...and now we see it is future proofing itself. This mob are a monster in the making. Clayton is super smart !!

Correct... wont play again. Seems genuinely fond of the Dees though. cant blame him for that

2010 Player Review - # 29 Michael Newton (rookie)
beelzebub replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
For all we know he might be playing for his future. I dont often use this term for a player but at AFL level hes a spud. Just know why we persist ( obviously the FD do ) . Keeps showing tidbits and never the full game. List clogger -

Yep...seems very generous of the Dees. Best really he was put on the next plane home. -
Ok...lets spell it out and make it abundantly clear about the why and the what of this trade. Seems many just arent seeing it for its true value. The Why: Melbourne like all clubs will draft kid after kid after kid. They will be assessed prior to their naming for what the club thinks they have as ability and possible future with the club..and heres the kicker....at that moment. This encompasses who's already at the club and who else is on teh horizon and where the FD sees the various players in terms of their curve. And then they roll the dice. Kids are picked. From here its a bit here and there. Some kids will jump out of the box , others will take their time. Some will , who having previously been assessed as having X level of ability currently and Y growth turn into the Z category....or not quite what we thought. There is the otherside whereby areas of the paddock which were under-represented suddenly become traffic hazards. A glut. So what do you do ? The What: Having reassessed said player in terms of the new current level of the team etc some folk simply wont get much air time going forward. They might not even look like being automatic call ups should the A team get injured. They are well on their way to becoming a list clogger. In the past we have collected them. Now we dont. So WHAT we do is make space on the list for future listings etc. Space can come at a premium. You can t really go down the shop and buy it. You create it. THAT is the WHAT of this trade. Space. Yes we got a trade ( 52) and may well use it and in all reality its a bit of like for like given how we got Kyle in the first place but in reality we now have a little more scope. Those that think we got dudded because we only got a 3rd rounder for him... well what do you really think is fair currency for a no best 22 with a decent game but nothing special ? Someone who looked destined to play good footy for the Scorps !! The reward is space and or such Kyle had to go . He probably wont be the last either. Well done MFC Good luck Kyle...again ..its win/win.

I like some others here had some hope for PJ . After transferring across and some lacklustre efforts he stepped up a little and began playing with some flair. This was in hindsight a false dawn. The inferred progression never materialised heres a guy..nearly 2 metres tall ..easily over the 100 kilo mark, built quite well, who simply FAILS to impose. Guys he would/should eclipse others...but doesnt !! Plays like a good deal smaller...cant play as his real size !! go figure. He relishes the lesser intensity of the VFL and can stamp himslef there...then gets hustled out the way when back in the seniors. Not sure if its a between the ears problem or what... but ive lost patience.. move him on...let some other have his game time.. and maybe come on.

Don't get the Pies not offering 3 ! He's young , has abilty , at 115 odd games is at start of his prime . With kicking coaching will enjoy much success. Definitely an assert. Strange really
-
Have the Pies shot themselves in the foot here ? Goes to gc possibly for no compensation! Intriguing lol
-
Would be a relatively cheap pickup for GC . Hunt will mainly play down back
-
Syl sums it up ! The OP seems to rate Cheney far higher than his real worth . Kyle is an honest player , probably better than the typical VFL level but hasn't really shown much to encourage us to put our money down. Obviously worth more to Hawthorn and in the context of how they appear to be about their drafting is value. Cheney was going to be very lucky to get much if any gametime in 2011 simply for the comp at melb for his type of position . In a nutshell ... Bridesmaid

Spring cleaning hasn't finished yet for sure!
-
Or a mix up of rookie-ing TMac , Pj gets a years reprieve as insurance and remains on seniors list so can play if required; injury to Jamar etc. This doesn't require an elevation . Newton is delisted as we know what he has/doesn't and so creates a space on rookie list . I think this allow three picks in draft plus one new rookie
-
Can't we still delist Newton ? time for fresh blood in rookies
