Interesting, Id take Warnock.but by the by.. Bate has exhausted all real and fair opportunities and just come up a tad shy of anything convinving at AFL level. Anyone suggesting to elevate him to the engine room really ought to have a think about that. Hes just not equiped for the guts. Hed be dinner for many. It will be interesting to see how long before hius announcement, irrespective. As to selections and accountability, it all get s a bit murky.I dont eny the slkectors job. Get a few right theyre heroes...get somme wrong theyre dingbats ( or worse ) You wont get them all right.That however shiouldnt remove any balanced look back at either the process or outcome. We all get ajudged for effort and results. Why would they be any different. I would presume though that it isnt going to take anything anyone here says for them to be self critical. Id imagine theres more thana few D'ohs and Bugger's exclaimed by selctors as they look back. Why did we pick him again ? Howd he slip past ? etc Over al lI think Predergast and co have done pretty good but there are some lemons amongst them. Was it that they were so easily identified at the time ? maybe not. I dont think any clubgets it all right and were certainly not the exception.. Once youre selction from the "rest of" i.e after all prime candidates have goen then its a bit of a rafffle and weve done prettty well. Weve also go a few early ones wrong ( ish ) but hindsight is unforgiving . Lets hope that as with all these processes theyre refined that we simply get better at it. As with anything I suppose..get it right its pats on the back, not so right and theres a 'please explain' Always though, as with anyone at the club..accountability comes with the territory, as it ought.

At what point do people also understand effective ability on top of unbridled efffort is what gets a team into the silverware business. Figt and desire are indeed desirable qualities. Is it a bit too much to expect a handbal to find its intended..or a kick to be within cooee of a team mate ?? too much ? He migh tindeed grwo into a better bodies mor eaccurate and effective player. Thats the mail isnt it. What some are saying is at present..its not al that pretty !! Observations are in real time..i.e the now.. much suppostion is about what he may or not be is all about tomoroow, or its tomorrow .

Possibly a tad simplistic but theres certainly some reality about it. Irrespective of whether youre a "think he's gone" or "thinks hes staying" camper there is the observation that having burst on the scene last year hes been somewhat flat ever since. There are without doubt some brilliant aspects to the lads game. Just as obvious though there are glaring problems too. There are some of us who would suggest on blance hes playing a pretty average sort of football. This wasnt what we were led to expect. As a supporting group , probably to a man and woman we thought we'd hit some sort of Jackpot, some form of football motherlode (picks 1 AND 2) . Well..its been hard digging in the main. I for the life of me stil ldont see any value in an player at AFL leverl who cant kick..and who cant spot a target. I do like those that can.

Why would Mick sit out ...if he doesnt need to. Hes already stated a year out is almost too long . Hes not silly. He wont sign anything thats limiting and he he wont position himself on the bench. Malthouse is an all in type of bloke. I imagine the scenario RPFC paints is quite close to the mark. Mick finishes his coaching commitements to Collingwood come 5 oclock or there about come Oct 1 . then ...it all changes. Eddie knows this Mick knows this all suitors know this Buckley's counting on this
