  1. Dont read TOO much into it. ..... just maybe a little
  2. Then again..the 'effective' one IS !!
  3. An interesting aside, or indeed possibly a particular component of al lthis intrigue is the Walls factor. Walls was quite instrumental in Lyon getting to StKilda in the first place and here we have him now publicly suggesting he ( Lyon ) consider moving to Melbourne. Now before some jump up and down bemoaning Walls as this or that its somewhat moot what any of us think of him as he has the Ear of Lyon ( Ross) . I can only take from this that if Robert suggests Ross take more than a glance at the Dees and with a bit of nudge nudge wink wink ...take a walk son, then there's more legs to this whole scenario than many are happy to suggest otherwise. Ross doesnt work for peanuts nor should he. Weve already shown a capacity to pay a fair remuneration for this job. Many boxes are ticked all round. This might actually fly.
  4. yep...thats about the length and breadth of it
  5. As has been widely reproted in teh media..he has a GET OUT.. So that year is really irrelevant if he chooses to walk. St Kilda is coming to the end of its window., Many of its stalwarts are running out of legs..or knees or..whatever. A serious rebuild looms. That will take some time..and a lot of luck in so far as the looming compromised drafts etc. or He can walk over to us with a burgeoning list with much rebuilding already done but in need of a new direction and serious moulding. Its not nearly as far fetched a notion for Lyon to come to us as some seem to want us to beleive.
  6. I was amongst the masses that thought we were somewhat better and that we might actually take a step thi sseason. They were my thoughts prior to round 1. Ive since been summarily corrected. One step forwards...two steps back
  7. Id be inclined to agree Clarkson will stay put..and Eade's a likely candidate for the Crows but upon what do you base your assertation that Lyon would dismiss us ?
  8. Sourcing believable snipbits of information 101 rules 1 through 1001 Disregard anything that can be attributed to a Collinwood source, doubly so if it emits from its Presidents mouth
  9. I think this is the crux. For a change we actually KNOW what we need...its just a case of getting him. Also for a change we have spending money; no need to bargain hunt. We need to get the right man for a 5-7 year ( or more) journey .....of success.
  10. The Hard Man I'll stick this here...as good as any place in all this discussion possibly. Makes for an interesting read actually as Jake Niall touches upon some of the qualities you want...and dont when considering all this . others thoughts ?
  11. Please dont take this as an afront but I agree 100% with this Some are truly naive. Eitherr that or theyre allowing sentiment to rule logic.
  12. Which ever coach comes in he'll have a shopping list. The panel will toss coins and draw straws as to who pushes trolleys and who pays the cashier.
  13. This panel is of the ilk such to rubber stamp a selection of an existing high calibre coach..Not to pick some newby from the scrub. In many respects..the coach will be picking the club...not the other way round. to clarify...for those who cant see it: If Melb gets Mick...its because Micks wants to If Melb gets Lyon...its because Ross wants to and we say thankyou
  14. Given we're already supposedly offering a few blokes contracts if they want them then it suggests theres no long drawn out panle selection going to be had. How exactly would you ask Picasso or Da Vinci how theyre going to paint a picture for you.. You just hire them..... youve seen what they do already surely.
  15. If youve all but got your sights set on one of a couple of the senior available coaches . What exactly are these mystical questions so many seem to think we'll be incapable of asking.?
  16. dudnt work !!
  17. I fully understand your sentiments there KIL and as you have an opinion on Eade thats fine. Mine is that hecan coach but hasnt got anyone over the line. In fact id suggest hes got no one TO the line. Lyon has. Id respectfully suggest a near miss rates higher than no -shows . Im not sure in what manner Eade is a better fit. How is this fit adjudicated ? Both Coaches will do well from moving on. Both have in all likelyhood exhausted the potential of their repsective lists and both clubs ( Dogs and Saints ) are due a sizable list rebuild. Malthouse has evolved into a very accomplished senior coach., emphasis on senior as its very much his entourage of assistants that are doing the harder yards. Micky is more like the icing. Possibly with a club such as Collingwood and their progress along their journey they are a good fit for such a set up. Im not sure we are, just yet. If a house then we're at lock up but stil lneed a serious fit out before we go on show ( in finals). We need a craftsman builder who can take the raw product and refine it into a real looker. I think Lyon might just be this type of guy. Id be happoy with him whilst id have my reservations about Eade. Its just my opinion. We wont get Malthouse nor Clarkson but no harm in trying. It struck me as odd that during recent interviewing Lyon ( Ross) didnt dismiss the idea of Melbourne at all. He was duly very circumvent about it but he could have easily quashed it on the spot; he didnt. Somewhat strange I thought. Theres an air of desperation about Eade that Im not 100%V comfortable with. He'll probably go to Adelaide and after 3 years of he'll wish he hadnt. Funny lot South Australians ( except the Melbourne following ones !! lol ) . Lyon strikes me as more composed, but just as menacing, not to be trifled with. A lot of our list ( unfortunately ) could use some stern direction and no mucking about 'coaching' Interesting times
  18. With Melbournes seeming inability to evade the media ( invariably for all the wrong reasons ) the sponsors have had a very very good amount of exposure. Bang for buck it would have to rate well. Whomever gets on board now for the ride of the next 3-5 years will get even more. The Dees make for a good billboard.. as to a footy team .........
  19. St Kilda was only about 60 secs away from a win in that GF ( 1st v Coll ) KIL !! How close has Eade got ?? sorry....how close ?
  20. so easily overlooked isnt it ...amazing... If Humphrey and Fat Cat could deliver us a premiership...id be good with that !!
  21. not semantics.. its being specific
  22. Thats good news.. Still means one major spot open ?
  23. No..Scully will be offered what the club considers hes worth. .Stay ..or not stay..? Seperate issue as such and in that light Scully has been offered what the club considers his worth.
  24. Welcome to the club Nasher..weve arrived at JT for various reasons. If one was to overlay all the reasons that many of us consider his 'case for' then we compose quite a player. I think he is..and will get better. Hes a particulalry fine vintage this lad.
