  1. They need that extra padding to protect them from 'kiddie fiddlers'
  2. Gee this site has become a lot like 'Ology in a very short time . On topic - if a player can't cop a serve from a coach he should go back to Auskick.
  3. WTF? The victim already had suffered a broken leg and that action was potentially dangerous. The AFL should increase the penalty.
  4. Grimes Times - one of the biggest brawls I witnessed during my playing time was vs Creek. Crowd got involved and it was on for young and old. Fortunately my older brother was able to step in and take out the players who were bashing me. Worst ever was against Lalor - it seems they are still up to their old tricks. Creek benefited financially from having Mike Brady as a benefactor - they had Jock O'Connell (former Blues Premiership player) as Captain Coach for a few years.
  5. Big Bob played for Greensborough. I played for a team that is now in the EFL (3rd or 4th Division I think). 'Borough had a heap of ex-VFL players such as Jerker Jenkins and Twiggy Dunne. We had none. We did have the less talented brothers of Mark 'Jacko' Jackson and Rene Kink for a season though.
  6. I had the privilege of playing against Big Bob in the Diamond Valley League when I was a 17yo and he was 43. He'd lost a yard or two by then - but I was in awe.
  7. And the Nicholson hit doesn't seem to have even been worthy of attention. That's also laughable.
  8. The hit on Nicholson didn't come to the MRP's attention? What a surprise.
  9. H-Sun biased reporting again. Sure Tappy and Sylvia will be looked at. No mention of Swans dangerous trip. AFL needs to be lobbied to have this matter dealt with in a balanced manner.
  10. The disappearance of Madeleine McCann. And slow internet speed in rural Tasmania.
  11. And the AFL endorses '[censored] slaps' like the one Maric gave Jordie.
  12. Viney was reported to have signs of OP last year and the club would manage his load - put him out in the paddock and create doubt in the minds of any potential suitors. We need to be ruthless.
  13. I consider hitting someone from behind, when they have no idea it's about to happen, an act of cowardice. He would not have dared to do it had Smith been facing him - he might have got hit back! I saw his hit on Smith from about 60m away - that was not an act of thuggery but cowardice.
  14. Mifsud claiming his source lied! Name the source then resign - who cares if it's not accepted.
  15. Is he the only player to have been deregistered by the VFL/AFL for an act of cowardice?
  16. I bet he didn't rate Steve Smith before he gutlessly took him out from behind at Princes Park. He could play a bit but his many acts of cowardice on the football field should never be forgotten. He should be constantly reminded of these acts of thuggery.
  17. We need a small crumbing forward that can read the play and has the heart to run, run, run. Desperately!
  18. The Green/Davey/Green combo goal epitomised where we are at.
  19. Long bombs to the forward line would work fine if we had Hassa Mann or John Townsend - we have nothing remotely like those 2. Hard to find any positives - Magner has probably done his ankle and will never play again.
  20. As part of research I have been doing over the last few years I have had the privilege to interview several people who are widely recognised in Australia (and the rest of the world) as some of the leading thinkers in harmful substance use. These 'experts' have been working for many years, in some cases decades, in this field and admitted there is no easy answer to the harms caused by 'ice'. They had never seen such a harmful drug in their experience and were concerned with the unpredictable behaviour frequently displayed by problematic users. They were hopeful that trials of substitute pharmacotherapies might prove effective - but such trials take years. It's all too hard!
  21. Sorry gidon, I had given up on this post but feel compelled to respond to your post to correct some misunderstandings. The 'Scandanavian Model' you talk about is questionable. On the one hand we have Sweden which takes a punitive approach to illicit drug use and employs a model of compulsory treatment. This has resulted in many illicit drug users moving to other countries - an export industry if you like. Denmark, on the other hand, is looking to set up regulated cafes where cannabis can be purchased - a bit like what happens in the Netherlands (although that is under threat ATM). I'm interested to see how OUR Princess Mary and her relatives feel about this. As for methadone - we also have other pharmacotherapies in Australia such as naltrexone which is a combination opiate agonist/antagonist formula designed to reduce some of the undesirable features of methadone treatment. It has shown to be effective for some users, but not all. Australian drug treatment experts are still pushing for a heroin maintenance trial (which has proven very successful in Switzerland and Germany) but continues to face political opposition from the conservatives. Unfortunately in this country, and others, the politics of evidence outweighs evidence based policy and users and their families continue to suffer. Less than 24 hours to go! GO DEES!
  22. And if currently illicit substances were subjected to a more regulated regime than the present prohibition fosters would you suddenly start using them? I think that knock at the door might be the CIA - I'm out of here.
  23. More like rational debate hijacked! Go Dees.
  24. There is an important difference between legalisation and regulation. There is also a difference between crusades and evidence-based approaches.
  25. Don't forget that it protects the markets of these sanctioned drug cartels - something that should be anathema to true free market liberals.
