  1. my suspicion is that pert will go some time into the 2025 season, not prior to it i don't understand why smith would WANT to come on to the board and be president if he's that exhausted from his long legal career; will he be actually motivated to enact change or is he simply coming on as a last resort for the club? i love the way these players / officials always meet in the same places; catching up at philippa's for a croissant is hardly out of the way - now if you'd told me that they shared a snag out at casey watching the aflw then i'd be genuinely shocked
  2. as opposed to those that bowey was subbed out of? my point stands - to my eye they play similar roles and having similar statistical outputs we don't need two of them, and certainly not a significant wage as a 29 and 30 year old
  3. near identical... https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=12&playerStatus2=A&tid2=8&type=A&pid1=6851&pid2=4073&fid1=S&fid2=S
  4. caleb daniel is reportedly on a heavily back-ended deal, $700-750k a year for the next two seasons his best position is as a running small defender who, well, doesn't defend that well cos he's so small i struggle to see how we can play bowey and daniel in the same side unless one of them changes roles
  5. pass on matt kennedy - he's not quick and his kicking too regularly fails to hit targets; we don't need more midfield bulls, we need players who can actually hit targets by foot and be damaging with ball in hand nick hind has been delisted by the peptides because he's in that 'too good for vfl, not consistent enough for afl' nexus zone of stringing 100 odd games together over the course of seven seasons at two clubs without ever cementing a role and being the selected sub for the majority of the last two seasons
  6. i'm not going to bother addressing the amount of negative projection going on in this post, but to answer the top bit, the prelim of geetroit vs gw$ / bears will be at the g i maintain that if the bloods don't win the premiership they've stuffed up right royally - their 2024 season has been as dominant as cats in 2022 and dees in 2021
  7. based on tonight it's a hard pass on mckay + cerra for trac
  8. as much as i'm not a fan of the orange franchise, they play great footy
  9. app has ah-mu as the leading goalkicker with 3 for stingrays in a 6 point win, and hynes 2 goals 2 langford another dominant game i presume, judging from the stats?
  10. bloods are in trouble
  11. to help drive content like this on demonland
  12. just looked at the play hq and all it shows tairon ah-mu with a goal in q1 as the stingrays tear the power apart
  13. hawthorn at dingley too? all equivalent but supersized versions of what we have at casey
  14. pisano looked overawed in the first half but was integral to our only goal these conditions tho...not great
  15. the words yr after are 'correctly read the market and made a motza as a result'
  16. their skills look slick
  17. majority of the season massive blow
  18. just turned on the tv and thought 'why is campbell starting ruck?' huge blow
  19. in fairness to hutchy he bought the wildcats for $8m and then sold them for $40m three years later he definitely knows how to spend other people's money
  20. according to this article, all quarter finals available to be streamed live and free on the Coates Talent League app i didn't even know there WAS a coates talent league app!
  21. josh weddle looks like a midfielder playing half-back currently but he's the same size as van rooyen
  22. even then, nearly half of those players will be onto their second clubs by the start of 2025, and at least several of those - lukosius, rankine, bobby hill - arguably didn't amount to the players they were expected to be at their first club interestingly only five premiership players - atkins from the cats, who was picked in the rookie draft, jordon and sparrow from us, and then quaynor plus norm smith medallist bobby hill, who i think the filth picked up for a pick in the 40s from gw$
  23. kornes would definitely encourage some tantrums being thrown and picks refused ...which is why he'd struggle to maintain working relationships in an ongoing work situation
  24. it reminds me a bit of the zac williams to carlton move - the intention is that he was leaving gw$ so that he could play full-time in the midfield i think that lasted about half a dozen games before he was (well, injured and then) back to the half-back flank now he's essentially replaced jack martin or jack silvagni as an extra forward who can create havoc because he's so naturally talented he's able to make something out of nothing personally i'd love houston to land with us - as a half-back flanker he would be a marked upgrade on salem, bowey, rivers, or mcvee, and allow them to be deployed elsewhere
