Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Bucks spoke well and measured, but he has interest, no doubt.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
Green deflected the questions smartly, what else does he say? We sacked him now because he was coaching poorly, players have regressed, game plan is outdated and we have hardly won games the last two years, and we wanted to get a start on his replacement, or yeah we started looking 3 weeks ago... sure its the truth, but with Simon sitting next to him he would have been smashed by members and media for saying that (or something similar). Surprised by what people want when he cant say the truth without being judged poorly for it. As he said multiple times, today is not the day to discuss those agendas.

I reckon Richo also knows he is gone, thought it was strange that he was spoken to at all.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Either Bruce, Enright or Montgomery with Longmire running the Football department would be great.

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
No way I want Hird at our club. In any role, not even as a spectator.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I think this is the correct decision, I still thought they would not doing it until next year tho. I think a young coach is the right path but I'd be pushing for Longmire to oversea the football department.

Time to go Goody?
Yes, had plans with my wife. My whole existence does not revolve around this club, when I was younger and lived within an hour of the G it did, now a lot less so and I’m happy with that. The day I care about some one on the forum having a snide remark about my support and loyalty is the day…. Well I’ll leave that bit unsaid eh.

Time to go Goody?
Nah, had other plans about 3hrs away from the docklands. And 16k isn't great vs anyone.

Time to go Goody?
I’m sure all 16,000 loved today. That shows to me that the fans are well and truly off the team. Was a lovely winters day to be out and about.

Caroline Wilson’s article 2 August 2025
Ahhhhh Caro, never anything to write about a club except when they are going bad. Her, Damo and Hutchy are a stain on the earth, ambulance chasers who don’t care about the game, just the next worst story they can write. No wonder she always looks like a sour person, never has anything good to say.

NFL
Big watch, but from what ive watched so far its been good with Mina Kimes and Jordan Rodriguez. All about the NFC West. Seems Mina has/is doing one for each division.

Welcome to Demonland: Jai Culley
Nah that's when the NFL and NBA are going great guns!

Time to go Goody?
I never want to lose, but unfortunately for Goodwin and the players, if they win nothing changes in the eyes of supporters and the general AFL. If we lose...

Time to go Goody?
I had to watch it, it's not that I didn't believe you, I just needed to to actually see that... I wonder what he liked... That Koz and Melk were on the bench near him? 😂

Time to go Goody?
I reckon he would be a good get as a senior assistant to a new rookie coach.

Time to go Goody?
In case you don't get the emails Dear Members, As a football club, we talk a lot about making our people proud to belong. I understand that following yesterday’s result and the season more broadly, we have not achieved that ambition this AFL season. While there have been moments to celebrate and the progress of our younger players has provided hope, the season in totality has certainly not lived up to our expectations as a football club. The inconsistency in the team’s performance week to week, and sometimes quarter to quarter, is incredibly frustrating - and everyone whose heart beats true, including myself, are frustrated riding this roller coaster. In the last 24 hours many of you have voiced your disappointment and anger. We understand it and we acknowledge it. As a former player and now President, I love this football club and I want nothing more than for us to be successful. We are a proud and ambitious football club and with that comes a responsibility to perform. We are not in the position we want to be right now, however your Board and I are committed to doing everything required to have our AFL program performing at the level we all expect. Lastly, but importantly, I also want to address a serious matter that occurred yesterday. Following the game, the club became aware of an online post directed at our Senior Coach, Simon Goodwin. While we understand the scrutiny that comes with poor results and the emotional investment people have in our game, what Simon was subjected to was totally unacceptable. No one in our game should ever be made to question their safety as a result of coming to work to do their job. We can accept criticism but disrespect and threatening statements hold no place in our game or society. Thank you for your support. Brad Green President Melbourne Football Club

Time to go Goody?
I think it was both, What changes did Goodwin do in the last? Fritsch to the back line to be the spare instead of Petty. Set the mids up at a bounce to ensure the ball never moved out fast? Did he make sure Kozzie could get on the field, for the critical last 10 mins instead of allowing the change. But the players also missed shots and reverted back to the old game plan which we got away from in the first 3/4.

Time to go Goody?
I do to a degree. But is that cos of the losses? is it because of the message/gameplan? I played for a coach for multiple years and you could nearly get up and give the same speech you knew he was about to in certain situations. One is never mutual from the other, but I honestly believe the game plan for the lat few years like in 2019/20 just isnt good enough.

Time to go Goody?
But how many players would be moved on under a Goodwin lead team... I dont think many.
-
Time to go Goody?
Its not that we are just blaming Goodwin, but he is the boss, its his team, his gameplan, his decisions. Yes the assistants assist and throw up ideas, but it is for him to take it all and make the right choices. And it's not like this is the first "hiccup". Blame for multiple years of failure lie at the feet of the head coach, just like years of success sit on the head coaches shoulders.

Time to go Goody?
Unfortunately that would prob mean he really does have their support.

Time to go Goody?
I mean I'm glad to know there is a board meeting today as they should have a nice old chat. (not that I expect anything) I'm more disturbed people follow Tom Morris on socials... But it would be nice to know that Smith and Geurra (SP?) are getting the minutes or having questions asked on their behalf.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
It's Funny, 9 minutes out I knew we would lose, it was just primed for a goalless qtr and a loss. Siren went, goal was kicked. I'm not angry, I'm not upset. I honestly just do not care anymore. Hope you all find something to enjoy for the rest of the day!
