Speculation is running rife in my head . . .

She'll be right -
To be fair though, when we're winning May is likely playing well. These last two weeks he has not, I'd argue they've been two of the worst games in his career. I certainly wouldn't take someone yelling and pointing at me as seriously if they had just put the limpest effort on Hoskin-Elliott right on the half time siren. Might be harsh and he's got credits in the bank but I'd be challenging him if I were coach.

Firstly I think you've written an excellent post and I really enjoyed reading it. However I have to take this part to task. You do need luck with injuries no doubt about that, but this doesn't mean you put this to one side and claim a write off. In a season where even one or 2 less injuries can make a big difference, the medical and fitness staff have to be on point. In previous years they seem to have done a fine job, but I've got serious questions to ask of their rationale for this season when it comes to rehabbing and getting guys back out there after injury. May, Lever, Oliver all questionable returns after doing what seemed to be more than minor injuries. Attitudes like this come from the culture that is set and I don't think it's unreasonable to question where everything sits right now. You can't control all uncontrollables like injury but you can minimise the damage in the long run by making decisions based on the core values.

First music from MC5 in 53 years.. There will be critiscm of the production no doubt, the vocals and drums are mixed quite high and the guitairs are a bit low (for an MC5 song anyway). Personally though I love the track, it's a fresh sound and great to hear these guys with today's production standards. Interested to hear what you guys think.

Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
layzie replied to pitmaster's topic in Melbourne Demons
Probably like a "Your email is important to us. Here at MFC we care nothing more about winning football games and delivering happiness to all our fans. Our medical staff are some of the highest trained in the country and we have our utmost trust in their abilites, this does not mean medical decisions are 100% correct with the information at hand at any the time but we do our very best. We've also been in contact with Christian and he is doing fine. We've enjoyed a great relationship with the Petracca family in the past and will continue to do so into the future" Nothing that can be seen as wrong there, hopefully I got the job. -
One of the best posts in a while. Bad luck covers a lot of things - bad luck with injuries, mismanaging training loads and tough fixtures, inaccuracy in big finals. Anyone bemoaning things like this is using the bad luck excuse which frankly is a bit pathetic after a big enough sample data size. I would agree that we have a good and strong culture, but you don't just reach a ceiling with it and stop. It is a continuous process to keep improving and getting better where you can. I don't see much to suggest much improvement or that the fire burns strong enough for another tilt at glory. Whether it's the Entrecote incident or tongue in cheek jokes at B&F nights about us being better than the premiers (The latter which some people in attendance that night took great offense when I dared to bring it up back in October) or players personal lives changing rapidly, things have definitely changed. As for the way the club presents itself, I think a lot of us felt beaten up after last year's finals series. Whether we had a leg to stand on or not it seems like we got a bit stepped on. And while we're at it, Gus did a fair bit for culture too.

Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries

Might have saved Max a tough on field conversation as well by the sound of it. -
Make the game easier to umpire or let it die. It's that simple. The way I see it right now the game may not even be around in 30 years with all the head trauma issues, but they can really run it into the ground and burn it down quicker if they continue like this.

That's bizarre. Shouldn't be coming out of the cap.

Doesn't sound like all is well between the two camps right now. I'm sure it will settle though. -
Maybe the invite was lost I'm the mail

If we can somehow make finals and win a final it would be beneficial. Can't give up

Yes you are entitled to it. I can see why people would think that his words don't always help. I do respect Garry though and always appreciate the brutal honesty. It doesn't always sound nice but more often that not I find that it is warranted. I prefer this to the Brad Johnson pom pom waving type that doesn't say a bad word about anything. It doesn't mean that everyone has to like it though.
-
I don't know, because I'm a grump and I'm tired maybe. I would like to have seen us trial it out a bit more but it didn't seem like we were ever keeping him post mid year. Hardly anyone here even wanted him in the final against Collingwood.
-
Agree. I thought last Monday was one of May's worst games in a while and he has escaped a bit of scrutiny. If it wasn't his utterly limp effort on Hoskin-Elliott on the stroke of half time or the brilliant contested mark in the 3rd quarter which he proceeded to handball straight into Jack Crisp a metre away and cost us a goal then it was the pointing around and arguing with others. Quite often he was getting sucked up the ground too much as well, maybe by design in the absence of Lever but it often left 2v1 situations on for someone like Rivers or Howes to deal with.
-
It's not a franchise sport where we gave away our key piece like a star point guard in NBA or defensive end in NFL. It might not be pleasant for some seeing him do well but what can you do? Would Max be doing as well if Brodie was still there? Got no idea, and don't want to waste time thinking about it.

Should be more laughing at them!

Pro tip: If you're one of those people that hates reading what the media writes about us, you are about to have a rough few weeks ahead..
-
If he is the recruit of the year then more power to the Swans. The guy is 2 x AA, more than handy. Why is it a big indictment on us?
-
Remember fit T-Mac and Hogan together? *sigh*

I may have told you this before but my Pies fan dad does the same thing or doesn't watch live at all but then on the following random Tuesday at midnight he'll watch the replay. It annoys me that he'll have something decent to watch at that time now haha.

Week after week this garbage just keeps getting smeared in our faces. What's the point in having these rules if they aren't enforced? You see 50m penalties given when the guy on the mark takes 1 step backwards. Honestly thought that Fisher snap was through, so badly wish it was.
