Well done Mr Jones

What's the bet this lights a fire under Collingwood's backside?
-
That clash was horrific
-
Feel like we fired a good shot but we can lift too.
-
Was a crucial period that, needed to hold them out.
-
Best kick from Langdon all year
-
Work rate very high, smashing uncontested possessions
-
Kozzie! One leg of the same game multi down!
-
Got our kicking boots on today. Good to see
-
That was some kick from Oliver!

It will be nice to hear the infatuation with Port die down a bit. And Superstar Charlie Dixon, where are ya?
-
Yeah I'm ok with it, it's a short 3 min clip as opposed to a 5 week doco series. Showed a side of Goody that I think a lot of people wanted to see and are glad they did.

I mean as much as I wanted to see Essendon lose for our sake I kind of wanted to see Essendon lose for the sake of seeing Essendon lose.

Terrible, feels like an MFC loss. Top of the goal square, should have scored. Dunderheads.

Wallace: Dees Stunted Weideman’s Development
layzie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I take Plough's analysis and critiques seriously, however this seems a bit hyperbolic. It would have been great to develop Sam perfectly with all things allowing for it but the reality is at the end of the day the FD makes selections and decisions based around winning football games. We can base our selection purely around the development of one KPP and always play 2 forwards but fear the wrath of fans when we aren't kicking scores or god forbid he loses a bit of form and starts getting torn to shreds. Criticism aimed at our FD this year has mostly been warranted but not this time. -
Fantastic thread I think I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. Thank you everyone for the recommendations I've got plenty of articles to read a little later! I have to agree with sitting up high at the MCG or any ground. I enjoy watching from pretty much anywhere, level 1, 2, wing, flank, behind goals but I love to head up to the top deck every now and then to see the game from a tactical view. Really like the EPL comparisons because although the two sports are different the mentalities are very similar. I find the TIFO Football channel on Youtube really good for some short videos on how the game in England and the rest of Europe has changed over time. In addition to the brilliant Guardian article AF mentioned this is a great little video that also explains Liverpool's game style for the people interested https://youtu.be/WzcT3hu2BQg

I like the out of the box thinking. With Brayshaw clearly excelling in the middle it could be something to have Viney pinch hitting down there for bursts. Normally I'm of the same thinking that when someone is clearly a mid they should stay a mid but there has been evidence over time of players like this being re-invented. It's just something to think about.

I did like the guy and he showed tremendous loyalty. It's a totally forgotten fact that it was Roos that turned Dunn and Howe into the great defenders that they are now. Would normally not want anything good for Collingwood but gee I wouldn't mind seeing him get the 200.

Has There Been A Better Recruit This Year Than Langdon?
layzie replied to WERRIDEE's topic in Melbourne Demons
I liked Hill at the start of the season but he's dropped off pretty dramatically as of late. Langdon might have had a couple of downers but even then he still manages to find the pill. He's been a good get, it's not always about setting the world on fire each week with 20 touches and 2 goals. He plays a role and he plays it very well. -
I fear for his future and don't know if it will last beyond 2 more years tops. Those injuries are very tough to get back from. Great character and one of the good people of football. The world would be a better place if more people had the character of Jack Watts. Always welcome back at MFC once it's all said and done. Should never figure in worst no.1 pick discussions among AFL fans, long long way from that.

Has There Been A Better Recruit This Year Than Langdon?

We're certainly getting burned in transition a hell of a lot less with him there. -
6. Petracca 5. Oliver 4. Brayshaw 3. Lever 2. Hibberd 1. Weideman Langdon and Jackson unlucky.

Essentially a carbon copy of the Adelaide game, happy to win and happy to get the job done. It was really tough going early and both teams really looked totally cooked but we still had enough run and drive to record the result. Petracca is so full of confidence at the minute to the point where he's almost 'makes' the ball bounce his way. Spinning, evading and doing everything possible to get it to our advantage, couldn't be happier with the way he's turned out. Oliver smashed it again! Seems to have much more confidence with his kicking and the checkside from the pocket, I'd love to see that splitscreen with the goal from the same pocket in 2017 vs Adelaide. Thought Gus easily had his best game for the year, there are going to be players that know what they are and when they are allowed to do what they believe they do best will excel. It was a no brainer to move him to the middle when Viney pulled out and he didn't disappoint. Jackson keeps impressing and Spargo easily had his best game for 2 years. But, and yes it is a but, without totally dismissing these two wins we have a fair way to go. Disposal into the 50 is still not consistent enough and we still burn way too many forward 50 entries. I still have no idea what Tomlinson offers apart from being a big guy who hates physical contact but will still give him more time, what else am I gonna do? Sit on my butt and watch Netflix? Once again, how good is this team exactly? We will see next Saturday on twilight footy, anothering measuring stick, be there or be square.

When was the last time we won twice in one week!
