WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
drdrake replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is great for our club, put Watts on a half forward flank, with Howe on the other all of the sudden we have targets to kick to. We now need to focus on a midfielder with pick 3 in the psd I would be happy for a koby Stevens or Matt Campbell. -
Strauss Frawley Sellar Tapscott Mcdonald Garland Byrnes Sylvia Trengove Watts Pederson Howe Dawes Clark Blease Jamar Jones Grimes Viney Mckenzie Morton Wines
-
Sylvia we spend most of his time on ball, resting up forward. If you look at the way neeld structures up we basically play a 5 man forward line with the 6th forward pushing into the midfield. Next year based on securing dawes and pederson I think our forward line we look like Blease pederson Howe Clark dawes davey With blease and Howe spend time on ball with Sylvia, byrnes, trengove, viney, Jones, tapscott resting up forward.

Thanks tom, by you chasing the bucks, our net result looks to be hogan, Barry and dawes, I think we should be extremely happy -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOMINIC BARRY

Another left footer Byrnes, viney, Barry 3 of our 4 picks so far -
At 10.15am tomorrow we will get a better understanding on how aggressive our club will be through trade week, if we give up pick 3 for Viney I would think the club will hang on to 4 and 13, and use our second round pick and a player to land Dawes, if we can get Viney at our second round pick I don't mind using 13 on Dawes. It will mean we get three top ranked kids, a kpf entering his prime plus have the third pick in the preseason draft to hopefully get roberton or Koby Stevens.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY

It's not lonely, just ask the 3000 members that dropped off this year and the 3000 that will drop off next year. Go to club functions listen to other supporters rather than what the club is telling you. If we stuff up this period of trading, drafting our club will be back in serious trouble. -

No I think the mfc list management and recruiting team are incompetent because their recent track record shows they are and until we can build a list that can win matches that is my position. -

The kid has every right to be frustrated by our club, they Chase him to commit last year, we finish a lot lower than we expect and we play games with him. We talk about our club and elite culture, this has been handled extremely poor. We want to be a strong club, come out and back Jack declare we will take him regardless, these games are silly. -

I think some on here think we can wait 3-4 years to show massive improvement, we can't, our club can't, we need to start winning games and adding 6-7 18yo kids to our list will not help us win games in 2013/14. We need afl footballers 23 to 28 that cab improve our time whilst the kids learn and improve. The club can't have another season like 2012 and dawes wellingham will make is better -

If you get a chance there is an interview with Kevin sheanan on dee tv, there is no question viney will be at Melbourne, he is the exact player we want -
That to me is their current value, both spent the year at Casey, with cook bring dropped to the vfl reserves.
-
That's why I mentioned we need more than one club interested
-
Imo we don't want to lose rivers and moloney as free agents, we want clubs bidding for them and we trade them.
-
With the October trade month commencing on Monday, what is the best outcome. For me its starts with the Father and son bidding with Jack Viney coming to us for our second round pick. I had been a get Hogan fan until the Butcher rumors started to circulate so for me Butcher would be a great pick up. Here is my Ideal Trade week and I'm trying to be fair with the trades As Mentioned Viney for Second round pick Butcher and Ports Pick 7 to Melbourne for pick 4 and 13 Wellingham and Pies Third Round for our third round pick and Martin Byrnes and Knights FA Koby Stevens Pick 3 in the Pre-Season Draft Petterd and our 4th rd pick to Richmond for their second Round Pick A bidding war between clubs for Rivers and Moloney resulting in us securing 2 further second round picks rather than losing them as free agents Cook to Carlton for third round pick on trade to North for Pederson Gysberts to Geelong for second round pick. We get Butcher, Pick 7, Wellingham, Byrnes, Knights, Stevens, Pederson and three 2nd round picks, Viney We lose Pick 4 and 13, Our second round pick(Viney), Moloney, Rivers, Petterd, Gysberts, Martin and Cook, our fourth round pick This leaves us with Picks 3, 7 and three second round picks in the National draft big month meaning we will turn over 12-13 players.
-
Don't forget we have pick 3 I. The pre season draft this is ideal player for this pick. We can be nice to wce and offer our third round pick but if we convince him to come to us we will get him for close to nothing

The more I think about it the more I like Pick 3, Hogan, Caddy, Viney, hopefully we can add another second round pick and a free agent through trade week, pick 3 is another midfielder, someone that will be more outside attacking mid -
I think we all need to understand how the voting works 4 coaches rate every player that played from 1-7, so every game a player playes he earns a min of 4 voted and max of 28 votes, so James Sellar played 16 games which he averaged 12 votes per game or 3 from each coach, that means he was below average. Col Sylvia played 17 games averaged 3.4/game per coach so just on Average, and the B&F winner Jones averaged 4.38/game/coach. Interesting way to do this, but when you break it down you it is a true indication on our season when your B&F was rated a 4.38 out of 7. Next year hopefully we can have players pushing towards 5 out of 7.
-
Go offer Goddard 4 years 3mil, with 1.5mil next year, 800,000 the next, then 350,000 for the next 2.

I will respond on what they will stay 1) Moloney will be there and will hand the medal to Nathan Jones 2) Don's speach Thanks for coming we all know it has been a tough year on the field, we are not happy with what transpired and we are looking forward to a much improved 2013. Off feild we will be profitable we had Opel re-commit for a second year and a number of sponser options that we are working through. Like to pay our respects to Jim, the first B&F with out him, thanks Jim for all you have done. MN Speach, firstly thanks to the members and supporters for coming out to barrack for us when we know it has been hard to stick with us. 2012 has been hard we have changed the whole footy department and we will hopefully see our results change in 2013. Boys look around these are the people we let down, we have to prepare ourselves over the next 6 weeks for what will be another hard pre-season, there are no excuses this year be ready for October 29, we have to make our supporters want to come and watch us play, they turned up this year and we have to give them reasons to turn up next year. 3) Jones, thanks to the coaches support staff, family and supporters. Boys this year was crap, there is no way we are putting up with this in 2013. There will be more fluff but these will be the main points.

Just to change subject, I reckon and I have nothing to back this up, that Cale Morton next year might just show us all the reasons why he was rated so highly. Add Viney to Jones, Sylvia, Grimes, Trengove, it will leave Morton to play that outside midfielder that he is and there was a few games mid year that I thought Cale Morton is running and working harder than all our midfielders apart from Jones, his spread was the best on the ground for a few games. Even his nightmare game against Collingwood, he was still getting the footy and working hard just butchered the ball all day. -

My gut feel is this, We are into Caddy and we have pick 3 in the pre-season draft, GC know this and are positioning for pick 13, the MFC know this and don't want to offer pick 13, so the games start. It is all a bit of positioning, I would be happy to throw GWS and GS pick 4 and 13 to get Pick 3, Hogan, Caddy and Viney. -

I can understand what Olisik is saying, ideally the club wants it to be 3,4,13, Viney, this is a great result for the club basically giving us 4 top 13 picks. However the MFC will use Pick 3 on Viney if they have to, there is no question about that. It isn't worth worrying about, we will use the pick we have to to get Jack Viney and come round 1 we will all be extremely glad he is playing for us. -

As a few have mentioned we will take him with the draft pick we have to, whether it is 3 or 2nd round. The club knows exactly the player we are getting with Viney, they know he will play round 1 and will most likely be favourite for the NAB rising star at years end. With our recent drafting history the club needs a safe bet, and this guy is a safe bet, we can't afford to have another first round flop. If we use pick 3, considering we have pick 4, it esentially if any be only 2-5 picks earlier than maybe he should be picked.
