  1. When Jack is ready to play Senior AFL against Hard Big Men, he should play. And not one minute Before.

I suggest Round 21-22 would be great-time to Reflect over summer & be ready for 2010.

There is certainly no hurry this year.

Remember the longer he waits the more Hungry for Games he should be.

  2. you're just sticking with your arguement for the hell of it now..

Ive seen 3 different scenarios where ablett jr absolutely selfishly ignored his teammates and then f**ked up the play.. robbos never even looked like being that selfish..

Nows when you should be humble and open to other interpretations. Im happy to admit when Ive stuffed up.

    you're losing face rhino

Fevola is a selfish player if you want to talk realities. Robbo is nowhere near his league.

What i have noticed with Robbo since he has returned is that his kicking lacks the penertration he once had. I hope he can work on that with strengthening.

I hope Russel sticks around for another couple of years. He puts "Bums on Seats", But at the same time I hope the team got stuck into him on Monday about his Goal Square Incident. That is not an example to set to a young eager side.

  3. ........ Not keen on today's game plan. Very happy with Jimma in control but had not so good comments on previous presidents; esp Gutnick and Gardiner...had forgotten Szondy but not much to remember on him anyhow !!!!. Apparently he helped set up the 'past players asscoc" and praised Jimma for asking all past players to a lovely night in the Long Room. (MCC) Anyway, as I was getting tried, he seemed to full of energy , reliving his past. A dear old fella, who simply still loves the Mighty Dees. Sees a future for us, but need to play 4 qrts.

Most People seem very Happy with Jimma at the Helm, all except Hazy it seems!

  4. Look, I see what you're saying, 'why you little', but it doesn't make it right. We've got too many of these soft 'supporters'. It's not even really about being passionate. It finished at 8.30 for christs sake! How early are we getting to bed in these parts? And as I've said already, we can't use the family thing as an excuse. I saw plenty of Hawthorn families. Granted they're doing well and won a premiership last year. Still, it's not acceptable. Get along to the games everyone.

Its not a matter of whether its right or wrong, These matches are part of Foxtels Contract. Hey I went, but if i had 3 kids who were going to school the next day i wouldn't have.

Its to hard to get them to sleep after food & Drinks & Hopefully Excitement.

Blame ch 7 for running there patheticly Drawn out Delayed Telecast, then they wouldn't need the twilight fixture.

The System is set so that no 2 games are on air at the same time (other than different states)

I know its frustrating but until we start winning consistently our crowds will be small, Too long between Drinks. Us Humans like to watch Winning & its been too long.

I do Believe this Board is getting things right, but our fixture will be quite ordinary for at least 2 years.

At least we are getting Positive Press now-Regulairly. It will turn around.

In 1964 the EH Holden was the new Model, a long time ago.....

  5. There are very few signs (none in fact) of the impending arrival of the Melbourne Football Club, very little enthusiasm apparent for GC17 and I can see why the AFL is throwing money at this initiative along with a year's supply of first round draft picks, advantageous trading conditions and salary cap concessions. I fear a monumental flop coming on with the creation of another artificial football club that will serve to further dilute supporter passions for the game. I mean if you try to engage a local here on important topics like how they think GC17's clash jumper is going to look when they come into the competition, they look at you as if you are a nutter.

It is so depressing to know that Victorian Clubs will probably die at the Expense of these 2 new Teams sometime in the Future. The whole thing leaves me chilled cold.

As Midnight oil sang 25 years ago...."Who can stand in the way when there's a $$$ to be made"

  6. And just on Sunday nights crwod. I was top of the Olympic Stand and there were plenty of Demons up there. When we're out numbered it always looks worse than it really is, especially if the team isn't doing much on the field to excite the supporters.

I would say it was about 30,000 Hawks and 9,000 Demons.

Still a disappointing turnout but not as disgracful as some on this thread have suggested.

When the team turns the corner, the supporters will return. Build it, and they will come.

Totally agree, These Twilight games are designed for Foxtel TV. When we are winning & kicking larger scores these timeslots will be hand balled to the Kangaroos & Tigers! Over the past 3 years i am amazed our crowds have been so large considering the type of football being played. Granted 2009 is vastly improving but we are still 1-9. (Imagine if the Kangaroos were on 1-9, & there games were twilight at the 'G)..Be Patient & the masses will Roll up. Those wearing a brand new scarf looking for the Gents!!

  7. He's making a few people around here look mighty stupid ...

Not at all. This is what we should have seen already. Great Game on sunday night. Colin Imposed Himself. He Can Do it. Good he has been well paid for a few years now.

I shall keep the microscope on him for the rest of the year, Well Done Col, maybe now you will believe in your abilities.

Would love to see a few 60 metre Bombs through the sticks in september Col. Just Do it, you know you can....

  8. Hi - anyone interested in being part of an MFC flash mob?

    What is this?

Idea is a text message/email goes out a few days beforehand nominating date, time and meeting place (e.g.. under the clock at Flinders Street).

Everyone meets wearing coats etc - then we all take our coats off to show our MFC guernsey's underneath and sing the MFC club song

    Is this weird? - yes

    Random? - definitely

    Would it be noticed? absolutelyf

We need to keep up the momentum - may seem weird, stupid - perhaps it is - but who is in....?????

If you guys make the news i will be seriously impressed. I think this stuff can be fun. Give it a crack.

  9. And my point is, get him up the ground a bit. Feeding our marking forwards, like I remember him doing Neitz. He's not even a second target in my opinion, but his strengths are his strength at outmarking most opponents and out-hustling them in space to win the ball and kick long to the teeth of goal. I've watched him do it, and he does it very well.

Trouble is if he takes those big marks up the Ground. Why does he then stand still & Handball to someone in a worse position?? Does he seriously have a problem with Kicking? I want to ask Dean Bailey Myself....He could be a Powerhouse....

  10. There was only one thing more disapointing than the demons performance today, and that was the lack of supposed 'supporters'.

From the 39 384 (??) people who were there, seriously, there would have been perhaps 1000 - 1500 Dees fans there.

What is it going to take for these 'supporters' to get off their arse and what the team that they supposedly 'support'.

I can fully appreciate that it may have been a little late for some who need to catch trains, get the kids of to bed etc etc, however, roughly 38 000 Hawthorn fans can do it.

After some impressive performances in the last couple of weeks, it was a very very poor turn out indeed.

We bang on about how commentators like Brian Taylor pay fans and the club no respect, well how about you rock up!

Look its simple. The Game was on at a very un family time (unless you were at Home watching Fox at Home with Dinner on the Knee)

We as a club have not won a flag since 64 & after 45 years are still on the Bottom. Not all supporters are as passionate as the people on here. Start Winning & the numbers will return.

There were 8-10,000 Demons there last night.

It was a [censored] to get Home so Connex take some blame.

  11. Personally i think Brock is injured & would look to rest him after the QB Game. List Management for next year.

Brock should not be traded, what would we be offered in return? Somebody far worse or a young recruit that is starting from scratch.

REMEMBER SEEING EARL SPALDING WIN A FLAG WITH CARLTON IN '95. WE GOT BUGGER ALL IN THAT DEAL-MADE ME SICK!!

Oh yes don't forget last years game against the Lions. Brock starred with a Busted Foot.......GUTS.

  12. My point was why you little, Miller still has to kick his set shots, and kick accurately. Which he has been unable to do, of late.

I totally agree with you, & i think that confidence will increase once the Forward line improves.

But yes anything within 40 metres must be kicked by Miller. After that Hand ball into the Goal square during the First Q that completely Stuffed Up I nearly committed Suicide in the Members!

  13. This happened before half-time, all over the ground. Why do our supporters think they will win a prize holding up the opposition sponsor's sign? Why would a hawthorn sponsor choose a demon supporter to win whatever prize is on offer? Why do we need to fund the Hawthorn revenue stream?

I wondered where all those Bloody sign all of a sudden appeared.

Hawthorn look like a bag of Twisties running around the Field. Putrid colours they are!

  14. I think JMac's game got better as it went on. During the First Q i said the same thing to my Dad. He made 2 Clangers right in front of me & was slow to move with the game.

But he got better, & tackled really well after Half Time.

  15. That's the point though, Miller is NOT a key position player.

He needs two other strong talls around him, and he needs to be the third target. I'd certainly have him over Bate as a third tall, because at least he is agile enough to pick the ball off the deck and run.

In the same manner that Rivers is not a key position player, and is a lot better as a third defensive tall, the same can be said for Miller.

Just because someone isn't suited to a KP role, does not mean they are a bad player. Miller handballs deep in attack too much due to a lack of confidence, but we have seen him nail some big goals, and he rarely gets beaten one on one.

Had Bate and Robbo both kicked those goals, he would have had 2 extra goal assists next to his name and everyone would be happy.

I Believe we will see the Best of Brad once Jack Watts starts playing. I do wish he would kick more though, Hand Balling 15 metres out is just NOT ON!!

  16. It was a good effort by the Boys,

But when the Heat was on in the 2nd Q we were murdered Through the Mid Field & Wings.

Miller would not impose himself or KICK!!!! IT DROVE ME BONKERS !!!!

We played some good Footy after half time & made Hawthorn earn it. That was good but we still lack elite Midfielders.

Jonesy & Brock really try but lack Pace.

Brad Green was Awesome, Col showed he can do it. (finally) will it continue??

Key Forward & Quicker Mid Field & september is attainable.

  17. Gee that team looks fantastic. I'd still have to give Long the evil eye over that GF hit,

Yes i would be giving Long a very Hard time. Never rated him after the GF. I waited till he got his medal, Gave him both Barrels & then Left. (an old bloke near me called him a "Coward" always remembered that.

  18. Since it's the Indigenous round in the AFL, and being an indigenous person myself, I thought I would post my alltime indigenous team.

(I say alltime, what I really mean is 'lifetime', since I've only named players I've actually seen play.)

    So here goes.....

Backs: Gavin Wanganeen, Chris Johnson, Matthew Whelan.

Halfbacks: Michael McLean, Darryl White, David Wirrpanda.

Centres: Peter Matera, Maurice Rioli, Byron Pickett.

Halfforwards: Nicky Winmar, Lance Franklin, Chris Lewis.

Forwards: Leon Davis, Michael O'Loughlin, Jeff Farmer.

Followers: Adam Goodes, Andrew McLeod, Aaron Davey.

Inter: Michael Long, Peter Burgoyne, Shaun Burgoyne, Daniel Motlop.

Emerg: Jim Krakouer, Phillip Matera, Phil Krakouer.

    So there you go.

What a team!!! The NT & Kimberleys have gotta get into the AFL F*&%#$%CK Nth Sydney!!!!!

  19. I still wear the Scarf i bought outside the MCC Members (Remember the Caravan) 1987

About 20 ft long it is, Red & Dark Blue. I bought it Round 1 when a mate told me our colours had returned. I disliked the light blue immensley.
